Fragrances -REVLON -Charlie Eau de Toilette

Lately I have been taking a walk down memory lane, nostalgic for the bad perm days of the 80's when we must have been oblivious to how many people inhaled our noxious fumes. I wore Charlie sometimes. I wore acid washed jeans and liked mullets on guys. I don't anymore. Charlie is a floral that smells on me as if I was taking a 3 day binge drunk in a dive bar. In a satin jacket with my name on it. Bouffant hair. If that were me, Charlie would fit right in. I think it would smell at home mingling with a gun and tonic.

Foundations -REVLON -ColorStay Full Cover Foundation

Revlon Colorstay Whipped was my HG for years. I'd been scared out of my wits when I'd heard it was being "repackaged". Though they say it's the same thing under different name and new packaging, we all know that it might not necessarily be the same thing. I just dreaded the whole hullabaloo involved in looking for a new HG.

I'm happy to report that despite some alteration in the ingredients (hence it's a reformulation, not merely a simple repackaging), this performs even better than Whipped. It lasts longer on my face and less prone to flake or patch even after 15 hours of wear. At the moment I live in a very humid country with summer all year round and I have oily dehydrated skin.

Two criticism though:
1. Colour Buff is about one shade darker than Whipped's Buff. I think I can still get away with it but some of the old users of Whipped's Buff will be very disappointed.
2. Dear Revlon, please don't use the word "repackaged" when you also alter the formula and the shade(s). At least for Buff.

Eyeliner -REVLON -ColorStay Exactify Liquid Liner

I bought this in Mulberry to match the burgundy L'Oreal Voluminous I'd gotten to change things up this fall/winter. Normally Revlon products are disastrous for me (and have been since I first tried them in the 70s), but this is not bad, relatively speaking. The shade is more brown that reddish, and the roller component is surprisingly sturdy and well made. Yes, there is a learning curve with this, but after using it a couple of uses, I got the hang of it. I find that running the roller on the back of my hand once or twice before applying helps enormously by removing excess liner (which will end up glopping up the base of your lashes). Angle it down, use a light hand, and roll it right along your lashline. Boom--a straight line at the base of your lashes, although I can't imagine doing anything like a winged liner with it. It sets quickly, it's easy to adjust the thickness of the line by the amount of pressure you apply, and looks great, but this is for short-time use only as it tends to peel off in a strip (try it on your hand). I haven't worn it for a full day so I can't complain, but I can't imagine this working on hooded lids or lasting a full day. If you really want to try this for fun and you can get it at a good price, I'd say go for it. But if you need it to stand up to a full day's activity, you'd be better off with another liner. I'll use it a while longer, but I would not repurchase.

Hair Styling Tools -REVLON -One-Step Hair Dryer & Voluminizer

I wish I had one of these sooner in my life, it would have made me save so much money on flat irons and creams to make my hair straight and good looking.

It takes less time to do my hair (around 15 minutes), and it looks shiny, straight and voluminous afterwards. My hair looks less frizzy and with less flyaways - I don't need to apply extra products to solve these 2 problems. On second and third day hair, I can use this brush and my hair instantly looks so much better!

It's very intuitive to use. It looks heavy and bulky but the shape and size make it work so well, and it's easy to get used to... I will definitely be using my flat iron less and less. Plus, I can take it with me when travelling without having to worry if the hotel has hair dryers.
