I'm old enough to have been a Clairol "Long & Silky" fangirl, and I remember one of the great benefits of that product was that, just as advertised, it made split ends appear to be "mended" and your hair looked like it had just been cut. (Google the product's old ads -- it's mentioned in most of them.)

They changed the L&S formula in the late 70s and most of us switched to Agree or other mass market products targeted to young women. I have looked periodically for a similar product ever since, but it's been difficult since there were no ingredients on the L&S bottle (or I don't remember them, anyway).

Well, this is the stuff. If it's not the same formula as Long & Silky, it's close enough for me -- it does exactly the same thing. I'm delighted.

I wish the fragrance was the same -- L&S had a clean, balsamic/herbal smell and this is more like today's vanilla fruity scents -- but at this price point and with this great performance, I can't complain. The performance is likely due to a number of silicone-based ingredients, but I don't mind silicone in my conditioner as it's the only thing that can tame my frizzies.

Would recommend this for anyone trying to get their hair to grow -- it eliminates tangles and breakage almost completely, even after the hair dries. I thought it would weigh my fine, thin hair down, but it doesn't -- just smooths it out.

Shampoo -Mane 'n Tail -Shampoo

This is a pretty average shampoo which is disappointing, considering all the rave reviews it seems to get all over the internet. I really didn't like the scent of it - it smelt like cheap soap - and it had a weird consistency, like partially set jelly. Credit where it's due, a little did go a long way which meant it latest me about 2 months (using it every day), but it took quite a bit of work to get it to lather and it didn't do anything great for my hair. I'm glad I tried it but I'm not sure I'd repurchase it as it just didn't wow me.

I can’t praise this product enough! My feet sometimes have dry patches and this does help A LOT with that. After a couple uses, the dry patches are gone.

My first time using this product and I have been using it now for 3 weeks, and I absolute LOVE it. At the moment I am only using the shampoo, as i use different conditioner from my hair dresser, cause my hair is very damaged from dying it and straightening my hair to much, but maybe in time I will start using the conditioner.
I wash my hair 3 times a week, as my hair gets very oily and dirty very quickly, and i use Mane 'n Tail twice a week to wash my hair and in between i will wash my hair with my normal shampoo.

Every time i use the shampoo, my hair comes out wavy, shiny and my hair feels very soft afterwards. The smell of the shampoo isn't bad at all, it actually smells nice. As per my scalp, i have a very sensitive scalp and i have dandraft on my whole scalp, and the shampoo hasn't affected that at all, it actually has reduced my dandraft from pealing. Before using this product i cut my hair very short (shoulder length) and as i can see my hair is growing much faster than what it used to. Everyone's outcome with this product will differ, because everyone's hair isn't the same, so if you planning on using it for the first time, first read up on the product and read some of the reviews... But from my side the product is working well for now.

Treatments -Mane 'n Tail -Moisture Enriched Hair Strengthener Daily Leave-In Conditioning Treatment

First Mane 'n Tail product I've ever used and overall, it was a good experience. My hair seemed to like this product with no crustiness or lankness which I've often experienced with other leave-in treatments. My hair felt soft and manageable after use and it seemed to work well as a pre-styling spray (I would apply this before blow-drying and straightening my hair) or as a simple leave-in product on the days I left my hair to air-dry. The spray bottle worked fine too; a good mist on it without drenching your hair, your clothes and/or any porous material within arms reach.

As with other reviews here, the only slightly offputting factor was the scent. To me it smelt a lot like cherries - reminiscent of the 'perfumes' I would get as a kid at Christmas. Very sweet and artificial, a bit sickly if you apply too much, but thankfully didn't linger once it was applied.

I'd probably repurchase at some point in the future, but I've got a few others on my list I'd like to try first.
