Moisturizers -L'Occitane -Shea Butter Ultra Rich Face Cream

on 11/9/2018 1:16:00 PM

This thick white cream spreads easily. It's rich and works just O.K. for my dry-very dry skin as a nighttime moisturizer. I use it over Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum. The first two ingredients are water and Shea butter. (It contains 25% Shea butter.)
It has a relatively short ingredient list. It doesn't seem to be quite moisturizing enough for my skin. In the morning my skin looks a little dry.

Gels/Soaps -L'Occitane -Amande Cleansing and Soothing Shower Oil

on 11/4/2018 7:22:00 PM

I love the scent of this l’Occitane range so much but I’m not completely wowed by this shower oil. I first used it on a sponge but the lather was non existent and I don’t feel my skin was cleansed. Reckon it was just absorbed into the centre of the sponge. Then I tried applying it directly to my skin, which sort of turned to a milky liquid and probably cleansed my skin ok. I’m really a sucker for lots of foam and bubbles. Lastly I used a bath puff and finally some lather and a feeling of decent cleansing with a lovely soft fragranced skin. Think I should have purchased the body oil instead of the shower oil. Not a bad product but not what I was expecting. I suppose shower oils aren’t for me!

Fragrances -L'Occitane -Neroli & Orchidee Eau de Toilette

on 11/4/2018 4:06:00 PM

A light and pleasant floral from L'Occitane that kept me quite interested with its interplay of notes despite its surface simplicity.

It opens with sparkling, slightly sweet citruses that are cheerful but never screechy. Citrus notes are present on my skin from the beginning to the drydown. Although I'm not a big fan of citrus, what I like about them here is that they show different faces through the life of the fragrance and are never boring. A very prominent, clear neroli emerges as the scent develops. At one point, florals tend to fade and Neroli and Orchidee reminds me of Houbigant's sweet and sparkling Orangers en Fleurs - which I like a lot. Everything else in Neroli & Orchidee happens on this citrus playground for me.

The floral part is more confusing for me. Not all notes develop well on my skin and after the top notes, I get this lush, almost humid but plasticky smell. Nothing dirty, like a doll's head smell. This is got to be the peach as this has happened to me with other fragrances. Or maybe it's the fig milk note, no idea. It adds an experimental interest but I don't think this is what Neroli & Orchidee intends to do. Other than that I get mostly LOTV, which eventually turns into a light, clean powder - more creamy on humid days. The LOTV is clean, fragile, sheer but I get a bit of that lovely stem note which I love in this flower.

Altogether it is a pleasant fragrance, that may feel too aquatic and maybe a bit synthetic to some noses but I think it may get a lot of love from those of us who like that clean, out of the shower feeling.

It has a soft sillage but unexpectedly good lasting power on my skin - over 6 hours.

Fragrances -L'Occitane -Arlesienne Eau de Toilette

on 11/4/2018 3:34:00 PM

This review is for the 2016 release, which is said to be lighter than the 2014 release.

This is worth giving a try if you like rose, violet and powder. On my skin, it is equal amounts of rose and clean powder, with violet playing second fiddle until - interestingly- the very deep drydown. My nose tends to skip the other notes - such as saffron- and Arlesienne quickly settles into a rose-powder scent. It brings to my mind Teint de Neige - with less musk and for me less of that fuzzy feel and instant craving. Arlesienne may not be groundbreaking or anything, but it is a solid, reliable member of this pleasant genre and will have many lovers.

It has good sillage. With one spritz, it wears close to skin. But more spritzes and heat amplifies it, and you can leave quite a trail behind. Lasting power is amazing on my skin - 10+ hours and I get more of a slightly smoky violet after 5 hours.

Fragrances -L'Occitane -Verbena

on 10/28/2018 7:41:00 PM

A naturalistic, spiky-green, vegetal citrus fragrance without a single drop of foo-foo perfuminess or sweetness. it’s exactly like rubbing a verbena leaf between your fingers. It also smells like an israeli fruit called etrog, which is similar to a large lemon but lovelier by far in its scent.

.I sniffed the Eau de Toilette at an airport duty free shop & was smitten, but told myself to hold off and see if I still wanted it after my trip. I did :^)

I haven’t tried the body care products but I imagine they’re nice quality and smell great. For me, the EDT is lovely to carry in my purse to freshen myself during a stressful or hot day. For a citrusy unisex cologne, it’s actually pretty long-lasting, especially if sprayed on clothing as well as skin. I use about 6-8 sprays total and I can still smell it at the end of the day, and on my coat.. It’s a welcome olfactory change from heavy synthetic perfumes and just makes you feel fresh and good in a classy way!
