Skincare - Face -Deciem -The Ordinary Matrixyl 10% + HA

on 12/12/2018 11:13:00 AM

At my age, I should be seeing fine lines around my eyes, forehad, and mouth.

But no. I dont have any of those, thankfully.
I'm on my 6th bottle, and that says a lot. This is another gem from The Ordinary and I seriously love this brand. Matrixyl is a cocktail of peptides and hyaluronic acid to tackle the static and dynamic wrinkles. I dont have any-yet- but prevention is the key, as I've started my anti-aging regime since my mid-20's. It's a bit syrupy clear liquid with no distinctive odor, absorps quickly and leaves your skin hydrated. As for me, I always add a cream moisturizer on top since I have dry skin. It has been a part of my AM/PM routine, and it works well under make up.

The price tag is perfect, the packaging is simple and on point. And I will keep buying it.

Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2%

I'm on my 5th bottle and this is THE ONE skincare product I literally cannot live without.
In my mid 30's, my skin is constantly battling whiteheads, photodamage (i live in the tropics) where sun exposure lasts all year round, working indoor with the AC on, so my skin is also dry. I'm active and having small pores make them clogged easily, turn into cystic acnes or whiteheads.
I've tried to stop using this for a while since I was afraid of acid resistance -where your skin doesnt respond to acid treatment; but it was a mistake. My whiteheads, milia, and cystic acnes return, and my skin is so so dry and patchy it doesnt look good in the most hydrating foundationg either.
This is a milk-like runny liquid, and the pipette is brilliant. It has no smell, no sticky residue on my fingers, it doesnt make your skin dry. It is very soft but effective exfoliating product that helps your skin to regenerate faster.

I use this in the PM, along with my FTE and other serums, seal it with Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream for chronic dry skin, and The Ordinary Plant Derived Squalane. It absorps quickly, as I usually massage it into my skin and then do some patting.
When I add this back to my PM routine, my skin clears up, the whiteheads and acnes gone, and it is now plumped, and hydrated. I cant live without this. Happy skin, happy me. I will keep buying this as I recommend it to everyone who has the same problems with mine and they too are satisfied with the result. With very very affordable price tag, I cant complain and I am thankful for this brilliant, brilliant product.

Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%

on 12/11/2018 8:07:00 AM

I love Deciem products for their simplicity and effectiveness. Unfortunately I felt this serum has done nothing for my skin in any way. The formula feels sticky at first and will cause any water based treatments used before it to pill and flake even when you pat this into the skin. It’s moisturizing and sets quickly, however I will be trying another Vit C product from them when this is empty. (I might not even bother finishing this on my face, and just use it on the backs of my hands.) I had better and more immediate results with a crappy offbrand Vit C serum front winners.

Moisturizers -Deciem -The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

Nice basic moisturizer for layering over serums, but it's just a simple cream nothing more. It does not irritate my dry eczema sensitive skin but it could be a little more moisturizing, like if they brought out a rich version of this it would be better for me, but that's personal. It's a good product considering the price just don't expect to much from it. Would recommend!!

Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane

on 12/10/2018 6:39:00 AM

I tried the Ordinary Granative Retinoid 2% in Sqaulane for a few months (intermittently, about 30 out of 50 days). It was ok but didn't make any major changes to my skin (just minor ones, both good and slightly bad).

Interestingly, the Ordinary's website describes this product as such:
"This water-free solution contains 0.5% pure Retinol, an ingredient that can reduce the appearances of fine lines, of photo damage and of general skin aging. While Retinol has been studied extensively, it is irritating to the skin and newer technologies exist that mimic the visible effects of Retinol without causing skin irritation. For this reason, we generally recommend using Granactive Retinoid 2% or Granactive Retinoid 5% instead of this formula. The Ordinary’s portfolio of retinoids includes the following formulations:
Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane (Moderate Strength, No Irritation)
Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane (High Strength, No to Low Irritation)
Retinol 0.2% in Squalane (Low Strength, Moderate Irritation)
Retinol 0.5% in Squalane (Moderate Strength, High Irritation)
Retinol 1% in Squalane (High Strength, Very High Irritation)
--- Source : (12/8/2018)

So, even though the company desribes this as moderate strength but highly irritating, I decided to try this .5% Retinol formula anyway. I chose this .5% concentration because my skin is not particularly sensitive, is somewhat used to Aha/bha acids, and did ok on the Granactive Retinoid 2% product. I've never used Retinol other than Neutrogenas Wrinkle Repair, which I think might be less potent (AFAIK, they don't state the concentration). That product was in a heavy cream base that broke me out so I only used it for a month.

Night 1 and 2: Applied to test (chin) area after using the 7% AHA Toner. There was no stinging on application either time, nor irritation the next day (2).
