Lip Treatments -Carmex -Moisturizing Lip Balm

I don't think Carmex should be marketing itself as an everyday balm or even a balm for people with dry lips when it's pretty intense stuff, but I suspect they don't want to make themselves look like a niche product. Yes, it does fix very dry, cracked, chapped lips well through its formula, which is something not a lot of balms can do. But it is too harsh to put on okay lips with the expectation it will make them look and feel better- it can actually be drying/damaging. A lot of people are jumping to its defence is fine enough because it clearly does A Job really well, just not what you would expect. The packet recommends slathering it on "liberally" and often (even though the formula is thick, just so you use up the tube faster and get another one...) and recommends it for general moisturisation and lipstick prep, neither of which sound too appealing. The distinct tingling, numbing sensation is probably, as others have pointed out, to create such a difference between application and the drying of the balm to make you feel like you need to apply again.
I may keep a tube around for when my lips have a really bad moment but I would use this stuff carefully and don't really like how it presents itself misleadingly, and have decided on a low-ish rating because of that even though it's a decent balm for very damaged lips.

Lip Treatments -Carmex -Comfort Care Colloidal Oatmeal Lip Balm

This is my new favorite thing. It’s super cheap—I got a 2-pack of the Watermelon Blast (which is delicious) for about $5. The other 2 flavors are Sugar Plum and Mixed Berry.

This is Carmex’s “natural” offering and the ingredients list is pretty good tbh. It’s really emollient & comfortable, a little heavy but not in a bad way. It sticks around, too. I have very dry lips in the winter and this 100% works with them. Normally only heavy-duty lanolin products help my winter lip situation but I heartily recommend this stuff.

The watermelon is like…really yummy lol. It’s a good thing I got a 2-pack because my 6yo daughter stole one.

ricinus communis seed oil (castor oil), cera alba (beeswax), theobroma grandiflorum seed butter (cupuacu butter), raphanus sativus seed extract (radish seed extract), flavor, astrocaryum murumuru seed butter (murumuru butter), rhus verniciflua peel cera, rhus succedanea fruit cera, vaccinium macrocarpon seed oil (cranberry seed oil), ascorbyl palmitate (vitamin c palmitate), tocopherol (vitamin E), copernicia cerifera wax (carnauba wax), avena sativa kernel flour (colloidal oatmeal), stevia rebaudiana extract (stevia extract), helianthus annuus seed oil (sun flower seed oil)

Holy grail status....forever and always. I remember my first foray into Carmex when I was a little kid when my parents got me the pot for my severely chapped lips (it was the only form around then). So soothing and I loved the scent. Flash forward many, many years later...and I still love it. I've moved onto the tube (more hygienic, imo) and always keep several on hand. I've tried the sticks but found them weird and too different from what's in the tube. I find the product makes a nice lip balm - I've had several people like the color as it's on my lips and asked what I have on. I apply this more than directed, especially in the winter - but never had a problem with that. Nothing works quite like this.

Lip Treatments -Carmex -Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Tinted Lip Balms

This is a creamy tinted lip balm with reasonably good color payoff in a cute slimline tube. I have it in peach and pink (just finished the peach actually), and I enjoy both. Feels comfortable on the lips, adds soft shine and color, and has that great classic Carmex scent and flavor--what's not to like? I haven't seen these in a while, so they might have been discontinued. Ah well, beyond the classics (such as regular Carmex), I rarely buy the same lip balm twice anyway--so many lip balms, so little time. But I would buy this again if I weren't so greedy for the new.
