A truly magnificent scent. Smells mostly very natural. I have the EDP. It's brilliant, cheering, emotionally cleansing. Top-heavy and totally devoid of any fusty, dark or "dirty" notes. It strikes me, stylistically, as being an intense "eau de cologne" in the sense of a citrusy Kölnisch Wasser; if, say, EAU DE ROCHAS were magnified threefold in intensity, this is what you'd get. This scent is mostly about tangy, sharp, nose-prickling citrus, and those who love citrus fragrances will want to note that the citrus qualities do not quickly evanesce, but rather linger well into the drydown, borne aloft by the classic aldehydes present. There are many notes other than citrus, but they are mostly "ghosted" and nigh-subliminal, and comprise a delicate chypre base illuminated with herb and floralcy. The lavender is very subtle, and BOUCHERON cannot be called a Fougère, because there is just not the foresty, spicy, barbershop-py, "Rondeletia" underpinning going on that characterizes the Fougère. Rather, I'd call the scent a Hesperidic/Aromatic/Chypre. In far drydown, the scent grows more powdery and papery, and reminds me of, say, freshly ironed white batiste cloth... or fine white cotton-rag stationery; basil and bergamot linger on with it. This is what the French would call a "Tonic" fragrance... as in: smelling it is an aromatherapy, as it puts your head into a more balanced, sane space, relieving fatigue, desperation, melancholy, nausea, headache, etc. Just as with 4711, you could douse a damp washcloth with this, and lie down with the cloth over your forehead, as the Germans do. This strikes me as the ultimate hot weather fragrance, as the brilliant, tangy, soapy notes are so refreshing and restorative. Nothing in BOUCHERON declares that the scent is just for men... it is very easily unisex, like any Kölnisch Wasser would be. BOUCHERON HOMMES is a gorgeous scent with a classical, timeless vibe. To say it is outdated is like saying "apples are outdated". In fact, I detect no trendy modern synthetic aromachemicals... no Calone, Cashmeran, Iso E Super, Cedramber, etc. So this scent could never be "outdated".

I am a fragrance junkie and own almost everything under the sun. I ordered Quatre on a whim; just loved the combination of notes. I was prepared to like this fragrance at best. My husband and daughters immediately complimented me, and my 23 and 20 year old girls were spraying themselves all week and receiving compliments everywhere they went. I had a friend’s husband say “you smell so good” after a quick hug. This fragrance is magical!

Top Notes: Pink Pepper, Orange Blossom, Rose, Tangerine. Heart Notes: Jasmine, Honey, Peony, Praline. Base Notes: Benzoin, Cedar. I love these notes, especially the orange blossom, honey, praline, benzoin, and cedar. This is a beautiful fragrance that is slightly gourmand and extremely feminine throughout its evolution from top notes to base notes. The only complaint I have concerns performance. It performs more like a body spray than an eau de parfum. It is light and almost ethereal but delicious. I use at least six sprays anytime I wear it. It has mild projection and sillage, and longevity is poor. I get approximately three hours wear out of it, but I adore it for those three hours. If these notes appeal to you, then I highly recommend it. Just do not expect great performance. I do not think anyone would be offended by it in an office setting, but it is a romantic type of fragrance, so one may wish to reserve it for after work. Given its lightness, I think it will work best in Spring and Summer. I think very cold weather would probably mute these notes, but I look forward to testing it in the cold weather this Winter. This is definitely a winner for Boucheron. If only it had greater projection, sillage, and longevity especially. The bottle is pretty and quite heavy in one's hand. The presentation is quite good compared to many of its contemporaries. Fragrance: 7.5/10 Projection: 5/10 Sillage: 5/10 Longevity: 5/10
