Laila 2 Eyeshadow Palette

I have been a fan of Blush Tribe for awhile now and also on a green palette kick this year. When I saw this palette announced I knew I had to have it! It is reasonably priced at £23.99 (about $32). Firstly, the color scheme of the palette is stunning for anyone who wants a good green and yellow palette. Unfortunately, that is probably one of the few pros of this palette. From prior experience with this brand I expected highly pigmented and blendable eyeshadows. This palette has nine mattes and they are very inconsistent in performance. Some of them have a lot of kick up, some have a little. These are not one-swipe colors, you absolutely have to build them up if you want to see color payoff. I did not find the applications to be particularly smooth. Despite the good color scheme I had trouble creating depth with these shadows. Building many of the shades in the crease, particularly the shade Maryam, was a difficult task. The metallic shades were very disappointing. All of them were difficult to pick and up apply. I actually found a dry brush worked best to apply, but application took a lot of work. Trying to use a wet brush or my finger really did not pick up the metallic shades at all. Once you actually have a final look the shadows do seem to stay in place. However, the formula inconsistency makes the palette difficult to work with. While the color story of this palette is beautiful, I do not recommend this palette. There are many other green palettes with significantly higher quality and with much lower prices.

I decided to try this palette after hearing positive reviews. At £23.99 (about $30) it's a reasonable price for a 15-pan palette. The most notable aspect of this palette is how pigmented and bright the colors are. In my opinion the colors appear brighter on my (very fair) skin than they appear in the palette. The majority of colors are warm and bright pinks and oranges with a few browns and reds. The shimmer shades are fairly neutral. The mattes are mostly soft, but some have a drier texture. Most of them are very pigmented and easy to blend, but some of them do take a little more work to blend. The three shimmers are very soft and pigmented. They are so pigmented and easy to apply that you can apply them with a dry brush and expect a lot of impact. They do not need to be applied with a wet brush or finger in order to pop. There was very little fallout with any of the eyeshadows and a little product goes a long way. The shimmer shade, Malika, also works very well as a highlighter. Overall I found that I had to get used to this particular formula. The eyeshadows are mostly drier than I had been used to, although this is not a negative. It just takes some getting used to if you are used to super buttery formulas, like those of Anastasia. I also found that setting eye primer was unnecessary for using this palette and that the shadows would blend just fine without it. The eyeshadows lasted well throughout the day and I would highly recommend this palette to anyone, but particularly those who love pink eyeshadows!
