Cleansers -LUSH - Dark Angels
zomgblah 7/14/2012 5:29:00 PM
This is such a lovely product. It's basically a sugar and charcoal scrub, so it's really great if you have oily, dull, uneven skin. First time I used it, I was skeptical since the scrubs I've tried didn't do much and instead left me with red, irritated skin. My face randomly gets splotchy throughout the day and the scrubs I previously used just made it worse. But as soon as I washed Dark Angels off, my skin was glowing and soft with NO RED SPLOTCHES! It was like a miracle! Yes this can get messy, so what I do is scoop some product into the palm of one hand then use the other to apply it to my damp face. Haven't had a problem with it getting everywhere so far. I've been using a sample of this for the past month or so and went out today to get a larger pot because I love it so much. The SA told me that the $12 pot I bought could last me two months max but the small sample I got has lasted me through a month with daily use, so I guess it's really up to personal experience. Love this and definitely recommend if you have oily and dull skin!

Gels/Soaps -St. Ives - Triple Butters Intensely Hydrating Body Wash, Creamy Coconut
zomgblah 7/2/2012 12:45:00 PM
I am seriously in love with this! After just one wash I could notice the difference. It made my skin soo soft and moisturized that I didn't even need to apply additional lotion afterwards. Shea, cocoa, and jojoba butter as well as coconut fruit extract make this the real deal! I love this and will for sure repurchase!

Mascara -Jordana - Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara
zomgblah 5/3/2012 1:43:00 AM
This is such a surprise find! Who knew that a $3 drugstore mascara could be so good?? I love the brush: it's dense but not obnoxiously huge like Lash Blast. I can get super dark lashes in just one coat, but I prefer to apply a second to build more volume. This is definitely a veryvery voluminous mascara and can easily be too good at what it does, so watch out when applying two or more coats. The only con I can see with this is that I started to notice an intense burning in my eyes when it starts to flake, which only happened when I've had my tube for a couple of months. Hopefully this problem can be fixed by buying new tubes, which is easy since it is so inexpensive! Would definitely recommend this!

Cleansers -LUSH - Angels on Bare Skin

I do like this product. It makes your skin so, so soft. However, I would not recommend this as a makeup remover or acne wash. It's not sold as one, so I didn't expect it to do much in either department anyway. Butttt if you're looking for something that makes your skin amazingly soft, get this!!

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Powder Brush
zomgblah 4/27/2012 6:11:00 PM
I seriously LOVE this brush. It is extremely versatile; I use it for foundation (both liquid and powder), powder, blush, and bronzer. It's just that awesome! And at $3 a pop, why limit yourself to just one? I actually prefer this over my beloved EDM Flat Top Kabuki when applying my Lucy Minerals foundation. I highly recommend and will repurchase in a heartbeat!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Stylish Smokes in Natural Smokes
zomgblah 4/18/2012 4:00:00 PM
Like what Blair said to Chuck (just finished watching an episode of Gossip Girl lolz), I love this quad but am not IN love with it. I definitely see it as a staple for everyone's mu bag simply because it is such a steal for the price, but if you're looking for a natural smokey eye to wear out during the day I think you're better off getting something else. This quad has a matte vanilla highlighter shade, a silvery taupe, a copperish orange crease color, and a dark matte brown-black liner shade. Hands down the most unique shade of the four is the copper crease shade.. it's such a lovely color! The matte vanilla shade is chalky and the silver taupe is very sheer. Some say that the taupe lid shade is a dupe of Satin Taupe, but I have to disagree. I have Satin Taupe, and it is far superior in terms of color and quality. The texture of the taupe in this quad is very gritty, and it has a cool undertone whereas Satin Taupe is more plumy. The brown-black shade is a bit too dark for the crease, but is lovely as a liner! I love applying it wet. Overall, I would repurchase this quad because I loveee the darkest shade and it's nice to have if you're traveling. Go get it!

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Lucy Minerals Foundation
zomgblah 3/28/2012 7:27:00 PM
I lovelovelove Lucy Minerals!! I recently got back into a mineral makeup mood and went ahead and placed a huge order for Everyday Minerals. I had used their stuff before and loved it, but BOY was I disappointed! My favorite formula, Intensive, was discontinued and their Semi-Matte formula was lacking coverage. So my search continued... until I came across a small independent brand called Lucy Minerals! I ordered sample sizes of OCC Creamy Bisque, OCC Creamy Olive, OCS Light Medium, and Snow White. Creamy Bisque and Creamy Olive both fit my NC30 skin reasonably well, but I decided to use a 50/50 blend of the two because Creamy Bisque was a bit too yellow while Creamy Olive was a tad green. Light Medium was wayyy too pink for me. The OCC formula is great! My combination skin gets a little shinny around 6-7 hours, but it's more of a glow than an oil slick. I can't say much about the other 3 formulas, but if you have oily skin I highly suggest their oil control formulas! Application can be a little tricky since the texture of the product is so different from other mineral foundations. I use a very light hand to get a TINY amount on my EDM flat top brush and stipple it on my face. I apply a single light layer first, then go and move on to my eye makeup. By the time I'm done, the foundation seems to have melted into my skin and, if needed, I apply a second light layer. I find this method gives me full coverage. If there are any small spots sticking out, I just take a stiff concealer brush and pat a little bit of powder on it. That's it! The first few times I wore this I made the mistake of not waiting after the first layer, and my face looked super cakey and fake. Beside the product itself, I absolutely admire the company for their customer service. Shipping was very prompt and reasonably priced, and my package even came with a free eyeshadow sample and a hand written thank you note! Thank you so much Annie (and company) and I will definitely repurchase!! **EDIT** So sad to have to knock this down to a 2, but my skin just seems to react badly to this periodically. Somedays it works great, other days it causes me to break out. Once it caused part of my face to burn badly. At first I wasn't sure whether or not it was this foundation but after finding a regular cleansing routine and keeping the rest of my makeup the same, I am almost positive this is what is causing the reactions.

Blush -Everyday Minerals - SoCo
zomgblah 3/3/2012 11:49:00 AM
This is a gorgeous plumy rose blush that gives the illusion of a natural flush. I really like it since it's super easy to blend and just brightens up the face. Be wary though, this is not a bright pink blush. Previous reviews have stated their disappointment and I would have to blame it on the website's description. But if you like mauve blushes this is definitely up your alley! The only problem I can see with this blush is that it is EXTREMELY pigmented and needs caution when applying. Other than that, I love this!

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Hot Tools - Curling Iron Spring Grip
zomgblah 2/29/2012 8:37:00 PM
I really adore this curling iron. I recently got this in 1 1/2" and the curls that it makes are sooo gorgeous! The iron itself is very aesthetically appealing with its gold barrel and sleek black handle. My only gripe with this is that I find it hard to curl the top of my hair the same amount as the ends. Like no matter how long I leave it, the curls at the top fall flat. Other than that, I love using this to curl my ends for days when I put my hair up.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Designer Chocolates Quad
zomgblah 2/29/2012 8:29:00 PM
Surprising enough, I reallyreally like this quad. I've been wearing it everyday for the past two weeks and it's gorgeous. What I do is blend a mix of the cranberry and liner shades into my crease, then pat the lid shade on my lid (obviously). Idk if it really makes a difference though, because the lid shade is so nude and chalky that it doesn't really show up. The sparkly white shade I could do without, but I occasionally put a tiny bit on the center of my lids. Overall, these are super cheap shadows that stay put with primer and are perfect for a casual day look!

Brows -Rimmel - Professional Eyebrow Pencil
zomgblah 2/29/2012 8:19:00 PM
LOVE. Seriously, this is THE best brow product I've tried so far. Granted, I've only tried a few (Revlon, BE, UD), but my search has come to an end thanks to this little gem. Being Asian, I was cursed with sparse brows that are basically nonexistent so a brow product is a must. I love the ease of pencils and the fact that this one not only has a great formula that lasts all day but also comes with a handy dandy brush on the end! I've been using the same pencil for about 4 months and I'm not even halfway through. Lovelovelove this and will repurchase forevaaaa <3

Styling Products -Garnier - Sleek & Shine Flat Iron Perfector Straightening Mist
zomgblah 2/29/2012 7:17:00 PM
Meh, this was alright for me. I was in an argan oil stage where I literally bought everything argan oil, so when I saw this I immediately snatched it. In terms of performance, this is decent. I felt like there wasn't any heat protection, and if there was it was mediocre. Also, it smelled overwhelmingly like alcohol so that was a big no-no. I guess I'll finish the bottle but will def not repurchase.

Hair Styling Tools -Goody - Spin Pin
zomgblah 5/12/2010 8:48:00 PM
These are so cool! On days where I don't have time to do my hair, I like to put it up in a bun that's nice and polished. These make it so easy to do that! I got them in Brunette and they are surprisingly really sturdy (for some reason I was expecting them to be flimsy like bobby pins). I simply twist my hair into a bun shape and then twist a pin on each side-- clockwise going in, counterclockwise coming out. They become practically invisible and hold up all my hair nicely (I have thick Asian "mermaid" hair that goes half way down my back). $6 is a bit steep for just two pins but they are sooo worth the convenience.

I love love love this lipstick! The color is a muted peachy coral and is perfect for spring. The Lustre formula is divine and is very smooth and buildable. This may be my first MAC product I buy a back up for!

Mascara -Maybelline - XXL Pro Volume Waterproof
zomgblah 4/15/2010 8:19:00 PM
Woww this came as a total surprise! I bought this on a whim while at Ulta (they were having a 40% off sale and I had an extra coupon) and honestly, I wasn't expecting much. However, as soon as I got home and tried it, I was amazed! My itty bitty lower lashes were visible! The amount of volume isn't insane but I love how it makes my lashes super dark and way longer. I really like this stuff and as of now it only comes second after my Full 'n' Soft (HG stuff!).
