First, let me say I got this on sale for around $8 at Walgreens. I chose the shade Bare Buff 02. I'm usually the lightest or next lightest shades in foundations. This looks darker in the bottle, but goes on lighter. There should be a pump to dispense. I do like that the SPF in this is from zinc/titanium oxide, no chemical spf which irritate my skin. This goes on lighter than bottle color, like I mentioned. It spreads easily and isn't dry. Goes on pretty smooth, i've been using fingers and then dusting with powder. I do have to blot Tzone mid day, but that is with most. It looks decent as the day goes by, no oxidizing. I would say its light to med coverage, but can layer and doesn't cake up on me. No added fragrance, but does have a slight nutty, warm scent to it when applied. It gives me a nice glow without shimmer and its not flat matte. I have noticed breaking out more since using this, but am not sure if it is this or something else so that may be an issue. Pros: doesn't cake, no chemical spf, fairly inexpensive Cons: possible breakout culprit, wouldn't recommend for oily skin, can be difficult to match since it goes on much lighter than bottle looks all in all not too bad, catch it on sale and give it a try!
Foundations -Cover Girl - Natureluxe Liquid Silk Foundation
zahnpasta99 1/17/2011 7:46:00 PM
EL DW light is my go to foundation in the summer, but since my skin is drier in winter and a tad paler than usual (i'm pale anyway) I thought I'd try this. I have never had luck with CG foundations before, but saw this and thought, why not. First, I paid 12.99 for this. Not too pricey, but higher than other CG products. I like the tube packaging and the lightest color is a good match for my skin. This blends nicely and feels very smooth, I like that there is no sparkles and the finish isn't dewy or matte, but a nice happy medium. It covers, but isn't masky or fake looking, it looks like my skin, but better I am oiler in Tzone so I finish with powder. So far no irritations or zits. I'm not sure how it will work in the summer months controlling oil. I don't like the scent, it smells like bathroom cleaner to me, they could have left that out. I think this is a decent product, I was pleasantly suprised by this since I still have nightmares of CG foundations from my teen years being orange and smelling like Noxzema! If you are looking for something different, try this, you may like it.
Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Apple Pectin Concentrated Fortifying Shampoo
zahnpasta99 8/21/2010 3:46:00 PM
Perhaps my nostalgia for the 80s led to this purchase and memories of my childhood best friend and I using this on our hair and styling it. I noticed the smell is a tad different that i remember it being then, not bad, just a different type apple smell, I remember it being more tart like a green apple, but this smelled like apple/floral to me. Anyway, I got it for $10 at Sallys, pretty big bottle. I used it and noticed it cleaned well, didn't weigh my collar bone/kind of wavy/fine hair down. I didn't really notice the scent too much after showering. I did notice my hair started to look/feel a little dry, which was weird b/c its summer and I have been exercising outside and sweating. I kept using it and added a suave apple condidtioner to it, but my hair was looking a little weird and wouldn't fix like it usually does. This is probably a good clarifying shampoo to use 1x per week. it is also a great dog shampoo, I bathed my doggie in it and her coat looks great! I think I will leave my apple pectin in my 80s memory file!
Lip Gloss -Avon - Perfect Wear Extralasting Lip Gloss in Perpetual Pink
zahnpasta99 8/21/2010 3:41:00 PM
Well, I knew despite saying it would last for 8 hours that wasn't gonna happen. I bought this b/c it was like $4 in one campaign and my coworker was selling Avon. I think the gloss is somewhat tacky feeling on the lips. I do like the scent, its kind of sweet but not offensive. The color is a very lite shimmery pink that is sheer. I have used this alone and over l/s. The tube and doe foot applicator are fine. The only major think I don't like is the tacky feeling of it. This is an alright product, but I think I will move on.
I like the purple chubby tube on this mascara. What led me to purchase was a magazine article comparing it to Dior Show. I haven't used that and didn't really expect it to compare anyway, but it did make me want to buy it. I think this is an OK mascara. I do like that it seems to dry quickly and stay on my lashes rather than smearing above my eye, etc. The brush is OK, sometimes it feels a little rough on the lashes. I do like that it doesn't flake during the day, its easy to wash off. I didn't really notice major wow lashes but they look fine, I usually do 2 coats. My lashes are about average without mascara, I did notice that look a tad straighter when I use this. Overall, this is decent mascara. No miracles, fairly low price, it works, but for me it wasn't earth shattering :)
Moisturizers -Olay - Total Effect 7X fragrance-free
zahnpasta99 8/21/2010 3:32:00 PM
I was noticing my skin looking kind of dull and dry in places. I don't like using several products so I thought a "7" in one moisturizer was a good idea. I got this on sale at Walgreens for $17. I like the pump and the packaging was OK. Pros: Fragrance Free, contains niacinamide high on the ingredient list, not too expensive, made my skin soft Cons: I applied at night at by morning it did not seem it had sunk in, I felt like I had a greasy mask on my face and it felt suffocating. The first few days I used this it stung in some places when I put it on, after continous use I noticed that my cheeks were irritated and I had little red fluid bumps on them which is my skin's signal that it doesn't like what I am putting on it, I also got some bad breakouts elsewhere, now I was near my period so I am not blaming it all on this, but still Overall, this product wasn't terrible, I think its a good idea, but my cranky skin was not happy. if your skin is normal and not too breakout prone it may work wonders, like I said I did notice my skin was soft, but that was about it!
I found a sale at Walgreen's and decided to give this a try. I bought it in 002 the second lightest shade. I am fair and in the summer may even be able to go to the next shade up which is unusual b/c usually most lines the lightest color is too dark On to the product, I have sensitive, combo skin that gets oily in the summer. I am prone to breakouts and have some redness on my cheeks. The bottle design/pump on this is great. I was worried that the sparkles that others mentioned would be an issue so I shake the bottle before applying. I used my fingers to appy. There was sparkles on my fingers but not visible on my face. I am very impressed by the foundation. It gave me a soft, even finish, did not feel like a heavy mask and it blended well. I did have to blot my nose after a while but that is with anything! My face looked awesome all day. It did not smear on my phone and it was not glittery. It was still on 12 hours later. My skin did not look masky, but even and finished. I really like this stuff, I was afraid I would glow like a Cullen, but even in the work restroom's crappy light my skin looked good. I am impressed by this and plan to repurchase as long as I don't have some weird breakout from it. I did use Mayb dream matte powder to set. Thanks Revlon! Edit: I suspect this may be causing breakouts, I am on Differin and my skin has cleared by since starting this I have some weird bumps on my chin. Will see what happens. Also, I noticed sometimes it looks like I am wearing a lot of foundation with this. Also, in addition, I started to notice that despite shaking the bottle well, the sparkles/glitter were too much, Revlon did do a nice job on bottle/pump design!
Powder -Physicians Formula - Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder Foundation
zahnpasta99 5/11/2010 8:03:00 PM
First off I got this at Walmart for $12.95 usd and got a bonus compact of the bronzer. I bought this in translucent light which is the lightest color. I like the orange compact with the little pink ribbon on top and that the puff is separate from the powder. It is a great color match for my fair skin and love the high SPF for summer. However, I am a bit annoyed that it contains talc since I think that may make it chalky. The first day I wore this by itself, it did not cover much and seemed to make my nose pores look larger, it didn't make me greasy, but it was a bit chalky on my face. I then wore it over a tinted moisturizer and it did OK as a powder, but didn't hold shine and didnt really make me look much better. I think it has its good qualities, but for some reason it just didn't look too hot on me. I will finish what i have and probably wear it on weekends, etc but won't rebuy. The bronzer is nice and looks natural on, very minimal shimmer. I like it more than the powder.
Deodorants -Kiss My Face - Active Enzyme Deodorant
zahnpasta99 5/11/2010 7:57:00 PM
Why didn't I read the reviews for this product bfore I bought it? I have been looking for more natural alternatives to deo and have been using one of those crystal deos for a few weeks. I thought why not try this. well, this worked for exactly 3 days. I didn't really sweat a lot, and I am a pit sweater, something I have noticed has decreased since doing natural deos. Anyway, after obsessively sniffing my pits, I thought OK this is working....yeah right, today in a meeting I was like what is that weird, skunky smell? It was ME! I put this on after my AM shower and it just stopped working. I smelled so bad I thought I was going to have to go home and change, luckily I had an emergency dove deod in my file cabinet. I swear this stuff caused BO, I never smell that bad, even at the gym. I love KissMyFace usually , but stay away from this deodorant. I will use chemicals if I don't have to smell like a skunk! This is hazardous to your social life!!!
I have this in Facade, but I think they recently changed the shades so I am not sure what Facade is now. I paid $35 for this at Sephora. The packaging is a tube which is nice and it squeezes out, but the lid can be a pain to open at times. I had written in another review that this was making me shiny, but that was a cleanser issue NOT this product. This fdn provides sheer to light coverage. It blends well and does not look masky. I have noticed a slight shimmer, but nothing bad. It does not make my face greasy and gives just enough coverage to blemishes, etc. without getting cakey. I like that it doesn't have too many chemicals, my skin likes this. It also doesn't seem to settle in lines and doesn't run down my face if I sweat. All in all, a good foundation, not if you want a lot of coverage, but I finish this with mayb dream matte powder and i like the look. it is worth a try. I plan to buy again.
Cleansers -Neutrogena - Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes
zahnpasta99 2/13/2010 1:49:00 PM
These towels took my m/u off, but my skin did not like them. It caused irritation and strange new breakouts and redness. I did not care for the fragrance. They are cheap, but if you have cranky skin be careful.
Liquid -Rimmel - Stay Matte + SkinPure Complex Clarifying Matte Foundation
zahnpasta99 2/13/2010 1:46:00 PM
I bought this at Walgreen's for under $7. I have been using Tarte smooth operator, but it does not control the oily shine. I have only used this fdn twice, but so far I am very impressed. I am very fair and bought the lightest shade ivory, I think it could be a tad lighter for us pale girls, but it blends OK. I have had only minimal oily shine and my skin looks fresh. The coverage is kind of sheer, but I layered it where I needed more coverage and finished with mayb dream matte powder. It is worth a shot, as long as it doesn't break me out i will buy again!! Edit: no problems with the fdn, but it I noticed it is kinda orange on me. I still wear it I just really blend and it is good for work.
I stumbled on this lippie on a Sephora trip and it may just be my HG. I have fair skin and this color looks wonderful. I like the texture, it doesn't dry out my lips, but isn't too glossy for work, it lasts fairly well, no funky taste and brightens my whole face. The color is kind of a mauvey, shimmer, neutral but not muddy at all! I will repurchase and am in love with peony!
Well, I do give this marks for smelling nice, adding a few natural ingredients, but that is where it ends. I washed my collarbone length fine wavy hair with this and it made it smooth, so smooth i did not need a product to blow dry, and it was shiny, BUT it left a strange film that by the end of the day I looked very greasy, if I didn't wash it at night again, the next morning it was even more coated and looked very gross. Sorry Pantene, but this did not work for me. I think maybe for girls with coarser, drier hair it might do better.
Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Daisy Fuentes Style Pro Smooth & Straight Shampoo
zahnpasta99 10/27/2009 8:11:00 PM
I bought this at Walgreen's and thought it might be good since the colder weather is drying out my hair which is just past my chin and highlighted. I like that it didn't have SLS which in some 'poos makes my head itch. Anyway, this shampoo is OK, my hair wasn't tangly after washing and there was a decent amount of lather. The main problem I had wiht it is the smell, it is like magnolia or gardenia. Luckily it isn't too strong after my hair is dried. I will see how it does using it regularly and how my scalp reacts. For 5.99 and no animal testing not too bad a deal.
