Eye Shadow -MAC - Soft Brown
rated 4 of 5
yoshiii 5/2/2013 3:43:00 AM

Random fact: this is the shade used on Christina Hendricks when she plays Joan in Mad Men, so you know it is a pretty, classic shade. It is definitely more of a transition color than one to use solo. I have paired it with Soba to tone down the orange if I feel like wearing brown shades (it sounds strange since Soba is a gold color with yellow undertones, but it really takes out Soft Brown's orange/red tones). This shadow also worked great as a transition color with Shadowy Lady (dark purple shade). Very versatile color and works with a lot of different skin tones.

Eye Primer -L'Oreal - De-crease Eyeshadow base
rated 4 of 5
yoshiii 5/2/2013 3:36:00 AM

Got this for 25% off + $1 off coupon, so came out to around $5. I've used the $3 elf primer as well, and I felt both did the same job. Actually, I like this one slightly better bc it is a bit less white than the elf primer I purchased in Sheer and it seemed to feel slightly less dryng. People probably rank this one low since the elf product is cheaper and very comparable. But if you find at the drugstore on sale, as I did, it's worth the purchase instead of having to purchase the elf product online + looking for coupon codes + waiting for delivery.

Hair Styling Tools -Remington - T-Studio Pearl Curling Wand
rated 4 of 5
yoshiii 5/2/2013 1:08:00 AM

Make sure to buy on Amazon; usually cheaper than in-store -- I found this for $15 on Amazon vs $39(!!) at Walgreens. It's great for either tight curls or wavier curls. The curls last all day, even without hairspray. It takes me about 20 mins to do my shoulder-length hair, and I have thicker straight hair that usually doesn't hold curls. I use it at 375 degrees. I have admittedly burned my hand a couple of times bc I didn't like using the glove at first. However, I STRONGLY suggest using the glove. You'll get used to wearing it. If you do burn yourself, remember to ice the burn and apply Vitamin E oil to prevent scarring and keep doing so in the days after (it really works!). Also apply petroleum jelly or Neosporin to protect the skin.

Treatments (Eye) -Superdrug - Superdrug Vitamin E SPF15 Radiance Eye Cream
rated 4 of 5
yoshiii 3/29/2013 2:05:00 AM

Aww, I really had not expected this product to have such low reviews. I mainly purchased to have a sun protectant during the day for my eye area. This product does take a tad more work to blend in, but it comes out invisible. It may feel a bit drying, but I personally liked how it is not oily or greasy at all, especially since I do not want eye cream running into my eyes. I actually never noticed the little sparkles until months later after I read another review criticizing the sparkles. I did a swatch on my wrist and saw the sparkles, but they never show on my face. Then I did read the tiny print on the back of the cream about the "light-reflecting pigments." If you have purchased this product on the whim bc it was only a couple of quid, don't worry -- it does its job.

Misc Beauty Tools -E.L.F. - Studio Makeup Mist & Set Spray
rated 2 of 5
yoshiii 3/29/2013 1:47:00 AM

I am not sure about this Makeup Set & Mist. I did like reading the other reviewers' suggestion about making this product work, such as using a different type of spray bottle or even spraying it farther from face (12 inches+) than 6 inches. However, I find this heavily runs my eye makeup instead of setting it. Also, this may admittedly make me sound like a total dunce -- but half the time that I have used this mist, I have accidentally sprayed it up into my nose despite spraying straight at my face, which was uncomfortable. The spray bottle is annoying bc the pump constantly sticks, and when it does work, a huge mist comes out (which may be alleviated by spraying farther from face). I am a bit disbelieved others wrote that they spray 6-8 times, bc I find that if I even just spray 3 times, my makeup starts running. It does leave blush and foundation on, but definitely is a disaster on eye makeup. Most likely, I will not repurchase.

Concealers -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles
rated 4 of 5
yoshiii 3/29/2013 1:22:00 AM

I really like this concealer, although admittedly haven't tried many different types. This one is way better than the Maybelline Cover Stick, which was too drying and cakey. This liquid formula blends a lot easier than the Cover Stick and feels less sticky on the skin. I have this concealer in Neutralizer, and I find that it hides dark circles without leaving a large white finish (although still a bit of whiteness).

Moisturizers -Simple - Kind to Skin Vital Vitamin Night Cream
rated 2 of 5
yoshiii 3/29/2013 1:15:00 AM

Similarly to a number of reviews here, also made me break out after the first night I used it :(. I have used a number of facial moisturizers without reacting and have not had a break out this bad in years. Definitely will not repurchase.

Mascara -Kiss Me - HEROINE MAKE long and curl mascara (black)
rated 3 of 5
yoshiii 3/22/2013 10:34:00 PM

In the US, you can probably find this product at any Japanese supermarket chain -- Mitsuwa, Nijiya, Marukai; check to see if one is near you. I found mine at Nijiya for $22. This mascara did a pretty good job lengthening, but nothing more significantly special than drugstore mascaras. Overall, I was a bit disappointed in this mascara considering the reviews and higher price. It definitely took me a couple more minutes than usual to remove than other mascaras, but it was not that bad. I used Body Shop Chamomile Eye Makeup Remover. I only give three lippies, bc even though it doesn't flake as much as other mascaras, I don't think it's worth $22. I would rather experiment with another Japanese mascara than repurchase this one.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle
rated 4 of 5
yoshiii 3/22/2013 10:14:00 PM

Very pretty pink-brown color (on me, it is almost red). Feels the same when applied as the rest of the LipButters. PF, however, looks less sheer/sparkly in color.

Powder -Clinique - Superpowder Double Face Makeup
rated 4 of 5
yoshiii 3/22/2013 2:15:00 PM

I have this product in Matte Cream. I mainly like this powder because it is not white at all and does reduce oil on face. I do have to apply after a few hours but I don't mind since most powders don't really stick to me anyway (unless they are super heavy, which I don't like). I don't really use the sponge, since I think it absorbs too much product -- I use a powder brush. I also agree that it is not useful for people to give low reviews for this product not doing enough for oily skin. This product is a lighter product made for those with less oily skin. If you are looking for a Clinique powder that is a better shine reducer, you should be looking at Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder or Almost Powder.

Moisturizers -Boots - Simply Sensitive Day Moisturiser SPF15
rated 5 of 5
yoshiii 3/22/2013 3:09:00 AM

Love this product! It works well under makeup, as it absorbs clear and leaves no white residue. Very gentle and subtle, pleasant scent. I don't break out with it at all with it, and I have combination skin. The product is also an amazing value. You don't need to use a lot of product. I have used the same bottle on a near-daily basis, and it has lasted over six months. Purchased in the UK, so no idea how I will find it in the states. Womp :(.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - MUA TrioEyeshadow Pink Sorbet
rated 3 of 5
yoshiii 3/22/2013 2:50:00 AM

I dumbly purchased this product by looks, and not looking on the back realizing its name is "Pink Sorbet." If you are looking for three bright and shimmery bright pinks, you have totally found them. Yet, I had expected the darkest shadow to be more of a purple (even when I did a swatch at Superdrug, I thought it was a sheer purple). I also expected the highlighter shadow to be less pink. I did find the shadows quite pigmented and easy to apply (hence 3 lippies), but was just so, so pink. I didn't really find fall out with the shadows though. I rated poor packaging, bc I think the colors have changed and turned very pink due to the eyeshadow dust from all three mixing up with each other, so now all three colors have significant color from the other. Also, I feel the cheap plastic will easily break -- but I shouldn't complain when this trio only cost a couple quid.

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Eye Studio Eye Enhancing Eyeshadow - Brown Eyes 2
rated 1 of 5
yoshiii 3/22/2013 2:37:00 AM

I sort of want to high-five the reviewer below me, bc their review is exactly how I felt. Super cheap shadows, all the purples came out way pink, and when I hit the brush to the pan, the eyeshadow kept crumbling. I had a lot of high hopes for this shadow kit too. Felt like little kids' play makeup. Sigh. Definitely not repurchasing.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Print Eyeshadow
rated 3 of 5
yoshiii 3/22/2013 2:30:00 AM

I only purchased this for the outer corners of my eye for smokey eye look. I do agree that it comes out with green/blue tones when applied, but only a little amount should be used. It does its job for that (hence 3 stars), but I wouldn't use it as an all-over shadow. I certainly would NOT use it on my eyebrows, bc of the blue/green tone. I probably will look for another grey colored MAC shadow after this one (but will probably take me forever to finish this one bc I admittedly don't really turn to this shadow often). I rarely dislike any MAC product that I purchase, but I am half-regretting this one.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Color Surge in Daybreak
rated 5 of 5
yoshiii 3/22/2013 2:22:00 AM

Daybreak totally deserves its high ratings. It works well with a variety of different shades and gives a natural look. Very pigmented -- isn't chalky white, unlike a lot of other highlighters.
