Nails -OPI - Pure Lacquer Nail Apps

I'm pretty surprised about the last review, *especially* the part about how long these lasted. I thought the designs looked really neat as an alternative to a solid polish. Unfortunately, that is where the attraction ends. Starting at the cash register. I tried one on each hand to start out with and put 2 coats of polish on my remaining nails. The first thing I thought while I was putting these on was, "damn, I just wasted ten bucks". I polish my nails regularly and I will say that normally I can only get 4-5 days with a normal 2 coat manicure before the chipping begins. First of all, these are sealed in a package and apparently once you cut it open, you have to use all of them (which I didn't want to) or they will "dry out" according to the instructions. A definite minus. I would like to be able to use them whenever I want to use them. Most of the peel and sticks are too wide for my nail beds, and I don't have small nail beds, so plan on having to trim the sides. This is additional work and may cause them to not fit correctly it you don't cut them straight. On the ends of these, you are supposed to file the edges to your nail. Well, there's no way to do this without filing your actual nail, which I didn't want or need to do. The edges of these never laid down properly, they didn't adhere to the nail at the edges, causing a very annoying peeling from day 1 on. I even tried to put some clear polish on the edges to help hold them down. I put a coat over the top, too. No help. The edges of the adhesive tore the very first day. By the 3rd day, I had to peel them off entirely. And I wasn't doing any work with my hands that might cause them to wear quickly. Just a huge waste of money. I would like my money back. Very disappointing. Do yourself a favor and PASS on these!

Moisturizers -Nuance by Salma Hayek - AM/PM Anti-Aging Super Lotion
ylrebmik7 1/26/2013 1:50:00 PM
I am a product junkie, except when it comes to skin care. I've used the same cheap moisturizer (Skin Milk) for years. When I saw the intent Salma had - to provide the products with the very best ingredients for everyone, I had to try them. Plus I'm getting older and I want something great for my skin. I have oily skin that flakes with some irritation on my nose and cheeks. I've used this for 2 days - morning and evening, and I really like this lotion. It is simple, not heavy, absorbs readily and makes my skin feel like skin. I got this buy 1, get 1 for 1/2 at CVS. I like this well enough that I'm going to check out the rest of the skin care line. Thanks Salma!

Styling Products -Kenra - Platinum Blow-Dry Spray
ylrebmik7 12/8/2012 8:56:00 PM
I'm pretty sure this product caused my hair to break off. I got this in a sample size from Beauty Brands and I certainly do have breakage now. I mainly notice it on the crown of my head, which is where I sprayed this on. I thought I had thrown it in the trash, but I had to write a review since anything that breaks my hair off is cause for a bad review. It's possible it could have been another product, but I haven't noticed this problem with any other of the products I use and I haven't noticed it since I promptly quit using it. If anyone else has this same problem, I'd love to know about it. I initially liked this spray, but I am interested to know if anyone else has had the same issues.

Treatments -Joico - K-Pak Color Restorative Styling Oil
ylrebmik7 12/7/2012 6:21:00 PM
When I read everyone else's reviews, I couldn't wait to try this. It sounded like a match - longer, highlighted, dry, blow dried, tangley and sometimes flat ironed, older (43, really?) hair - and I've tried many, many other leave-in shine, conditioning oils. I purchased this on Ebay on Sunday and by Thursday morning was trying this out after I washed my hair. I added a squirt when my hair was half dry and then maybe a squirt more before flat ironing. You girls were right - this is great stuff and maybe becomes HG for me! It made my hair feel like normal, healthy hair. I couldn't stop touching it. The best surprise was waking up day 2 to find that my hair still really looked great - no greasy build up or kinked ends from sleeping on it. I really just brushed it a little and went to work. Pretty pleased with this! This may replace my old stand by - Redken's Smooth Down. I also like Redken's Outshine, which is more of a cream, but a great leave-in conditioner - I may try this oil with the Outshine. I've also tried Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum, Chi Silk Infusion (eh), Moroccan Oil, Biosilk Silk Therapy, AG Fast Food, Kerastase Oleo Relax (I've gotten less thrilled with this) and a host of other such products. This is a good one. I can't wait to experiment more with the amount and in conjunction with other products. I suggest trying it out!

Shampoo -TiGi - Bed Head Urban Antidotes Level 2 Recovery Shampoo
ylrebmik7 11/15/2012 8:20:00 PM
Man, you gals were *spot on* with your review on this stuff. I have similar issues, thin, past the shoulder, hair with highlights/lowlights that I like to flat iron or curl. My skin and scalp are oily and somewhat sensitive with some dandruff - love the combination, ick. I have tried a ton of different shampoos and conditioners, trying to get the best for my hair type. I was using Biolage Color Care which is a good basic shampoo plus L'oreal conditioner. But when my hair dries it is a nightmare frizzball from the ends down. I usually use either/both Redken Smooth Down and Outshine for condition and shine before styling. When I saw all of the great reviews from girls with hair that sounded like mine, I had to give these a try. Although I've only used these one time, I'm excited enough that I had to add a review. I shampooed 2x and conditioned with the matching product. I dried my hair and curled it with a big curling iron. I was in a hurry to get to work and the only styling product I added was some cheap hairspray at the end to hold it. My hair was shiny, bouncy and felt great. The best results I've gotten in quite some time. I can't wait to see if I continue to get these great results from this shampoo and conditioner. I will add an update. Very impressed! Thank you for the reviews girls!

Loose Powders -Sonia Kashuk - Brightening Powder
ylrebmik7 10/20/2012 4:44:00 PM
This is just not what I was looking for. I wanted a highly pigmented white powder that would work under my eyes to brighten them up. This is not it. This is basically a finely milled sparkley powder that goes on almost sheer. Really nothing white about it. For $10 on a nonreturnable product, sadly Target won't allow a return, just a waste of money for me. I'm surprised there were so many good reviews, but perhaps it has other good uses. Seems like a quality product, just not for me and too pricey.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Angled Blush Brush
ylrebmik7 10/20/2012 4:40:00 PM
I normally used a round blush brush, but I found this irresistible at $3 to go with my ELF fuchsia fusion blush - also $3, both from Target. I do wish the bristles were a little looser, not so tightly packed, but I think this will happen as I use it more. I kind of like the angle, so I can deposit more product below my cheekbone. Go to Target and check out their ELF selection. (No, I'm not an employee either)

Blush -E.L.F. - Fuchsia Fusion
ylrebmik7 10/20/2012 4:37:00 PM
I just love this blush! I wear pinks and purples and I have been looking for a replacement for the Smashbox Beechwood that they discontinued. Mind you, that blush was $24 and this one is a meer 3. It is very pigmented, but I don't agree with other reviewers that say it is super sparkley. I barely notice the sparkle, but because it is so pigmented, I use a very light hand with it. I also go over my makeup with a layer of loose powder, so that might make a difference, but really, I think the sparkle is just the right amount of subtle. I would call this color a dark cotton candy pink. I like blushes that have no hint of orange or brown and this fits the bill. For $3 for the blush and another $3 for the ELF contoured blush brush, I can afford a set at home and on the go. Love it!

Cleansers -Bliss Labs - Fabulous Foaming Face Wash
ylrebmik7 8/4/2012 9:55:00 AM
I have sensitive oily/combo skin that I also needs spot moisturizing to eliminate flakiness. I also have some dermatitis (itchy skin) around my upper cheeks/nose, so I need something that will clean gently but is soothing, as well. I liked this as soon as I tried it at the W hotel - it smells like bubble gum to me. It is fairly gentle and while I don't like products with cleansing beads in them, there aren't enough to bother me. So I took the 1 oz. sample home and I just use a pea-sized amount for my face so this will actually last quite awhile. So far, I like it - my face feels clean but not irritated. And I do like the lightly sweet smell, as well.

Conditioner -A/G - Fast Food Leave On Conditioner
ylrebmik7 7/15/2012 7:29:00 AM
I bought 2 sample sizes on Ebay based on reviews here. I have longer, highlighted, dry hair with an oily scalp and I always need a leave-in to make my hair manageable and nonfrizzy. I have yet to find anything better than Redken's Outshine including this. I really wanted to like this, but it just did nothing for my hair, no increased condition or shine - maybe a *slight* conditioning. If you like this or are considering buying it, I'd advise trying Outshine instead or as well. My sister and I both swear by it.

Styling Products -Paul Mitchell - Super Skinny Serum
ylrebmik7 5/7/2012 12:02:00 AM
Man, I want to like this. It is lighter weight than the Redken Smooth Down Leave In that I use prior to flat ironing, which I like, but it just doesn't cut it. I've tried adding more, but it just doesn't get rid of the frizzies on my blonde, color treated hair. I want smooth, glassy hair and this just doesn't do enough. If you want to try this, I recommend going to the Salon in Walmart and buying the sample size for around $7 which is what I did. Unfortunately, I will not be repurchasing. I really like the AG oil that I got from Beauty Brands (also $7 for a very, very small pump) on the other hand, so I'll write a review for that.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Teflon Tuff
ylrebmik7 4/1/2011 7:04:00 PM
I've had this clear coat polish for a long time, so long that it started to turn colors. I decided to do my own pedicure and used this as a top coat and I'm really impressed with how it worked - my toes are shiny and pretty and it lasted well over a week without chipping. I think if I had coated the tips of my toenails it would have lasted longer. Great, great looking top coat!

Lotions/ Creams -Curel - Sensitive Skin Remedy
ylrebmik7 3/14/2011 6:30:00 PM
I have seborrheic dermatitis (itchy, flaky skin) on my cheeks and nose plus flaky skin that gets oily, ugh. Skin Milk was my go-to moisturizer until it got discontinued. I won't buy Olay or any Proctor and Gamble product because I don't want to support animal testing. I got this in a sample size and it's been enough to use for several weeks. I find that this absorbs well, doesn't feel heavy and works well as a base underneath my powder foundation. I do plan to buy this again. I frequently find myself itching my face, but I haven't noticed that while I've used this. Ingredients: Water, glycerin, isopropyl palmitate, cetyl-pg hydroxyethyl palmitamide, polysorbate 60, dimethicone, stearyl alcohol, allantoin, eucalyptus globulus leaf extract, cholesterol, cetyl alcohol, sorbitan stearate, polyglyceryl-2 diisostearate, citric acid, sodium methyl stearoyl taurate, butylene glycol, bis-methoxypropylamido isodocosane, dmdm hydantoin, methylparaben, propylparaben

Conditioner -Matrix - Biolage Full-Life Volumizing Conditioner
ylrebmik7 3/14/2011 6:15:00 PM
I got this in a sample size package. I generally need more moisture than this conditioner (and shampoo) provided, but I do think it gave me volume, so overall I'd recommend this conditioner if volume is what you're looking for.
