Cleansers -Origins - Checks and Balances

This is way too drying for my Combo skin. Even in summer time, my skin feels very dry after using this. Such a shame as the consistency, fragrance and price is very pleasing. This will be a good cleanser from Oily to Very oily skin types!

Cleansers -Shiseido - The Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam

I am on my 3rd tube for this. Previously I was using SK-II and although I love it, the price, I couldnt love. Anyhow this is a great alternative. I have combo skin and after cleansing with Shu Uemura A/O oil, I use this to feel extra-cleansed. I have sensitive acne prone skin but this is not stripping. I also like the comforting smell which is the usual Japanese cosmetic fragrance, slightly rosey. The consistency is good too. I can get quite a lot of foam out of little. Will continue to use this unless SK-II put their price down = ]

This product is great. I havent even touched my powder blushes since purchasing this last month. Gives a very natural TEEN glow on cheek and nice cherry lips. Love this product and got many compliments from this product. Its easy to blend so long as you dont leave it too long on the skin. Will definitely repurchase.

Treatments -Epicuren Discovery - 100% Aloe Vera Gel
rated 4 of 5
yeorib 11/3/2008 5:20:00 AM

This is the best Aloe Vera gel I have tested, and boy have I tried many... Usually Aloe gel tends to leave sticky residue, this does not and that is a major plus point for me. Also it calms my acne scars or any protruding ones and leave my skin moistured and well healed come morning. I have been using this for over 3 months and am very happy. Though, there are considerable down sides. The price is extortionate for what is essentially a pure aloe vera gel. The gel can water your eyes which isn't a nice sensation. Also the bottle, although travel-friendly in a plastic pump (screw close possible) refuses to pump out any more when reaches near the bottom. But the after-effect makes me blind for all these negatives so I will be repurchasing for a long time to come.

Cleansers -Shiseido - White Lucent Brightening Cleansing Foam
rated 3 of 5

A lot of ppl are duped into believing that all Japanese products, especially Shisheido stuff are very gentle and great for sensitive skin. Don't get me wrong, there are things that are great for sensitive skin in their line, but sadly this product isn't. I don't have extremely sensitive skin, just combination, acne-prone, slightly sensitive kind. And this foaming cleanser was enough to dry out and redden my skin in summer months. Generally speaking I think any line to do with Brightening/Whitening are not gentle. Although the creaminess and foaminess was perfect the after-effect was not. I will not be re-purchasing.

Cleansers -Shu Uemura - Cleansing Beauty Oil Light
rated 4 of 5

I like this cleanser. I agree with other reviewers that if you just wash this off by it self with water, it will make me break out. But I use kanebo clay wash with this and it is perfect. My skin feels very squeeky clean after. I have been using Liz Earl for a long time and I love the fact that its so easy to take makeup off in comparison. The other fomulas feel so heavy on my skin, I think this one is best for me. I love the rose scent and the light cosistency is great. Definitely buy this again.

Moisturizers -Aesop - Mandarin Facial Hydrating Cream
rated 4 of 5

Nice lightweight moisturiser. The SA recommended me Primrose but as I am using their oil free serum, I decided to go with this one. The fragrance is strong but I am ok with this: I think generally Aesop line has strong frangrance. But it is very gentle and doesn't cause any breakouts which is a plus. I think for the amount you get and how long it lasts (about 3-4months) the price isn't bad either. I will buy again if nothing amazing comes along.

Mascara -Kanebo - Kanebo Mascara 38*C Silk Performance
rated 4 of 5

I think its possibly the best mascara bar none for people with asian eyes like me. Doesn't smudge, lengthens and comes off very easily after few splashes of warm water. Only down side is that it tends to dry out abit so one lippy off, but this doesn't effect the appliance so much so its fine by me! love it by every sense of the word!

Liquid -Giorgio Armani - Luminous Silk Foundation
rated 3 of 5
yeorib 1/10/2007 12:02:00 PM

Oh, boy.... so much promises and it delivered! well, almost... I love the coverage; it covers well and I almost don't need concealers. The consistency is great as is the colour (no 4. almost a perfect match to my skin). However... and a BIG one at that, it causes breakouts!!! Alot of plp seem to suffer the same problem at MUA with this one. Such a shame as it could have been my HG.

Liquid -La Mer - Skincolor De La Mer The Treatment Fluid Foundation SPF 15
rated 3 of 5
yeorib 1/10/2007 11:55:00 AM

Everything was pretty promising until it was time to face the colours.......they are too YELLOW!!! seriously.. I have light asian skin but this was way too yellowy. The texture's very nice though, it gives a very nice glow without being greasy and it didn't cause any breakouts. However its quite sheer. Giorgio Armani liminous silk type of coverage is what I am looking for but this didn't really cover anything except giving a nice overall sheen. Also the nice glow thing turned border-line greasy by the end of the day on my combo skin. I am now mixing this with makeup forever violet base to lighten and soften the yellow-ness. I decided I have to use this as I feel guilty spending rather alot on this very sporadically in selfridges. so my search continues...

Scrubs -Liz Earle - Liz Earle - Gentle Face Exfoliator
rated 4 of 5
yeorib 12/20/2006 11:05:00 AM

I have been searching for a mild yet effective exfoliator that wouldnt break the bank. This fits the bill. Its quite gentle yet scrubs off dead skin well. I use this in the shower and it comes off very easily with a splash of water. The skin doesn't feel dry or sensitive after use. The grains, I must say, aren't tiny but they are small enough to be fine for sensitive skin. Sometimes when I use very tiny beaded scrubs, it over exfoliates which is bad for my sensitive skin so this is fine for me. The price is very reasonable and the packaging is great! Unless I come across anything better which seams unlikely, I will continue to use this.

Moisturizers -Cellex-C - Hydra 5 B-Complex
rated 2 of 5
yeorib 12/19/2006 5:23:00 PM

Unlike the High Potency Serum, I think this product is very over-rated. Although it didnt cause any break-outs, and it did add moisture, it was not enough for my oily-combo skin. I still needed my trusted calendula cream. Also the consistency is very sticky and basically not pleasent. I have a very simple glycerin moisturiser from my dermatologist which cost almost nothing and it does exactly the same job. So although the serums in Cellex-C is very good, I would definitely say no to this one. Too expensive for what it is!

Treatments -Cellex-C - High Potency Serum
rated 4 of 5
yeorib 12/19/2006 5:17:00 PM

I have been using this for the past 3 months now(I still have some left so it actually last longer than I have expected!). I bought this in duty free with Hydra 5 B-Complex but I think the serum is way more effective than the latter. I keep mine in the fridge and use 3 drops every night before my moisturiser. It's not an instant miracle product but my skin is alot more supple and even toned now after 3 months usage. It can be stingy especially after I use a mud mask and my skin is drier but it isn't anything painful, slightly stingy (I almost like this sensation as it feels like its doing something). The price wasn't that bad as I bought it in duty free. My acne scars have faded and my complextion is more brighter, so for these reasons alone I would definitely re-purchase. I think its safe to say, after using Creme de la mer for a long time, this serum has done more to my skin than la mer has ever done!

Skincare - Face -Jurlique - Moor Purifying Mask
rated 2 of 5
yeorib 12/13/2006 7:59:00 PM

This is an ok mask. It works on a certain level that it calms the skin however it can be harsh on skin also due to its rapid drying action. The fragrance is also very strong for me. And similar to all Jurlique masks, I dont like the fact that I have to water it down and make a paste. When I feel like a mask, I dont want to dish out for a bowl and do all the work. I can't be bothered half of the time and just want to slap something on so complication is also a big no-no. All in all, I have used better Jurlique products and I don't think its worth folking out my money on.

Fragrances -Hermes - Elixir des Merveilles
rated 4 of 5
yeorib 12/13/2006 7:47:00 PM

I usually hate those fragrance ads in magazine. Makes magazine pages bulky and hard to stay flipped. However whilst reading Vogue, this waft of smell came over me which left me sniffing the pages until I found out it was Hermes. I threw out 5 sample bottles I got from Hermes last week after I bought somethings thinking they weren't any good. Bad judgement, I'd say! Anyway dashed to buy it two days ago and now loving every moment of wearing it. Its very festive and slightly masculinm which I love. I usually wear Coste (the black one) which is sometimes too masculin so this is perfect. The bottle is a let down. Its too playful and young for my taste. It would have been so much better if it was a clean understated bottle. Anyway I wear it to bed also which makes me very happy. As Marylin said about her No.5, I could literally only wear this to bed and feel happy!
