Eye Shadow -LORAC - Eyeshadow - Mesmerize
rated 4 of 5
yelsel 1/14/2010 11:03:00 AM

I bought this as part of a set from LORAC's website and this is my favorite shade of the bunch. Soft, high quality and a beautiful, easy to wear color. Kind of a cross between MAC's Jest and Motif. Has more sheer/gold than Jest, but no purple/green undertones like Motif. I'm NW20 in MAC (fair and cool) and the color works well for me. Easy way to brighten up my face - perfect for work :)

Pressed Powders -Lancome - Color Ideal
rated 4 of 5

I really like this powder. Though a bit on this expensive side, it lasts for a long time and is of high quality. I use Alima mineral foundation in the morning and use this Color Ideal to touch up throughout the day. I swear it really does adjust to the color if my skin! I am neutral/cool and use N2 and C2 in Alima and am about an NW20 in MAC and I have this powder in Medium 10N. I highly recommend it!

Makeup Brushes -The Body Shop - Mineral Foundation Brush
rated 5 of 5
yelsel 10/8/2009 11:30:00 AM

I have used many mineral make up (MMU) brushes before and have liked most of them - but this one I LOVE. Very dense, and slightly stiff, but the bristles are so soft! I tend to push more firmly on the brush when applying my MMU (I use Alima), and this brush allows me to do that without falling apart, like some of my past brushes have. Highly recommended!

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Skin Appetit Detoxifying Nutri-Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
yelsel 3/23/2009 10:58:00 AM

I have been using this cleanser 1-2 times a day for the past month and love it! It's gentle and smells great. It doesn't foam, so sometimes I'm not sure if it's taken all of my make up off (which is why I always use it in the morning but just sometimes at night). It's more of a lotion consistency. I bought it on sale for $7.50 at Walgreens, but it would have been worth the $15 retail :)

Lip Treatments -Yes To Carrots - lip butter
rated 4 of 5
yelsel 2/16/2009 5:58:00 PM

I really like these lip butters. They are "creamier" than Burt's Bees, but do not last as long on your lips (hence the "4" rating). They do feel really soft though and I enjoy the flavors. I have Mint and Melon.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Relaxing
rated 4 of 5
yelsel 2/12/2008 6:48:00 PM

I don't think I've ever seen a product with so many ratings from us cool-toned ladies! (I'm an NW20 / blue-gray eyes for reference). Yay. I received this in a swap and love it. I often wear it with Trax, Memorabilia, Mulch or even Expensive Pink. Can be worn for day or night and it a great "non-boring" color for work.

Eye Shadow -Alima - Pearluster Eyeshadow in Grace
rated 4 of 5
yelsel 1/25/2008 12:26:00 PM

I received this as a free sample with my Alima order (foundation, primer, finishing powder and brushes - by the way) and absolutely love it! I've had it on for about 3 hours and have already received several compliments on it. Definitely buildable and makes my blue-green-grey eyes really stand out. I can wear it to work, or out at night. I love it and will definitely purchase the full size!

Blush -Alima - Satin Matte Blush in Mimosa
rated 4 of 5
yelsel 1/4/2008 3:53:00 PM

I'm an Alima C2/N2 and a MAC NW20... meaning, I'm pretty fair with pink undertones. I love Mimosa. It shows up as a slight pink flush on my cheeks, looks natural and blends well with my Alima foundation (which I also love). Not a huge fan of any mineral make up package, so that's the only reason this gets 4 lippies. It's a little messy. But tap your blush brush well and you won't get too much product.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Fertile
rated 4 of 5
yelsel 12/26/2007 3:51:00 PM

I was lucky to swap for this eye shadow as it was a limited edition. I LOVE MAC Trax and Sketch eye shadows, and Fertile works very well with both of them. Kind of makes them more smoky. The color definitely brings out my blue/green/grey eyes as well. Fertile works great as an eyeliner too - doesn't look black, definitely shows us as purple. Very glad I got this!

Powder -Alima - Satin Matte Mineral Foundation
rated 5 of 5
yelsel 12/15/2007 2:12:00 PM

After being a MAC Studio Fix girl for several years and attempting to switch over to a mineral make up, I have found my HG with Alima (I've been using it for about 2 months now). I tried Everyday Minerals, Merle Norman MMU, BE, Mineral Fusion, Lumiere, and a couple others. But for some reason (I wish I knew why), Alima works perfectly on my combination skin. Doesn't itch, doesn't break me out, doesn't sink into my pores, but does give my skin that air brushed, but natural, look. I'm an NW20 in MAC and am using a combo of C2 (appx. 75%) and N2 (appx. 25%). I highly recommend giving this a try... I also LOVE the Alima flocked sponge. I use Alima's #25 foundation brush for my entire face and follow up with the sponge on places that need extra coverage. By the way - they've come out with new packaging and it's super cute!

Bronzers -Merle Norman - Sunsense BronzingPowder in Gilded
rated 4 of 5
yelsel 12/9/2007 1:24:00 PM

Simple, slightly shimmery bronzer. Not too pigmented, not too sheer, adds slight glow to my (NW20) fair skin. I can use it year round, with blush or without. It's my favorite bronzer.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Trax
rated 5 of 5
yelsel 11/10/2007 12:46:00 AM

Hands down, my favorite eye shadow ever. A beautiful purple with gold flecks, it brings out the green in my blue-green eyes. (For reference - blonde, NW20). I wear it alone, or with Sketch and Nylon. The color is definitely buildable.

Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - Shimmer Eye Color - Antique Gold
rated 4 of 5
yelsel 9/27/2007 5:01:00 PM

Although this isn't a color that I would normally choose for myself (Blonde, blue eyes, NW20), it's really flattering. I usually choose purple shadows (think MAC Trax) because it brings out the hint of green in my eyes, but this shadow really brings out the blue. I can wear a base (MAC Vanilla) and use Antique Gold in the crease, or I can use it as a base and use a Amber Lights in the crease with Embark as a liner. Great staple!

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash
rated 5 of 5
yelsel 7/19/2007 2:30:00 PM

I love this cleanser. It's very gentle, great at taking make up off (even eye make up) and doesn't dry my skin out. It's also very inexpensive (about $5) and the bottle lasts for a long time. It also comes in a very simple pump dispencer. I would definitely suggest this cleanser to anyone who needs something gentle and easy. I use the redness reducing lotion made my Purpose as well. Great stuff!

Powder -Merle Norman - Luxiva Purely Mineral Makeup
rated 4 of 5
yelsel 7/1/2007 1:54:00 PM

I'm a 24 year old with slightly dry, slightly acne-prone skin. I have a very hard time finding foundations that match my skin well, but can can qualify myself as an NW20 in MAC. I chose to buy this product in order to wear makeup that's a little better for my skin and a little more natural looking. In regards to the product, there are some pros and cons: PROS: I really like the natural finish of the product and its slight "shimmer" that makes your shin look luminous, but not glittery. It's also easy to apply and tough to put on too much or have that awful line across your jaw. CONS: It was very difficult to find a color match. I had to buy two (L60 and ML40). And the two mixed together match my skin just okay. Another con is that it's kinda messy (the powder gets all over my bathroom counter) and that it's not portable. I wish I was able to bring it with me in my purse. The price is decent ($25.50), so if the product works for you, then it's well worth it.
