I don't know how I lived before Milk of Magnesia. My skin is SO oily...seriously. I have lived in hot and humid Texas my whole life and have tried countless moisturizers, primers, etc to keep my face matte throughout the day and nothing has worked for me like MOM. Because my skin is so oily I HATE the dewy look. Lol. Give me matte any day. I buy my MOM from the dollar store--works the same as Phillips but for cheaper which is good for a broke college student/beauty addict like me. I take a cotton ball and put a layer on my face, let it dry then apply primer. I then use my cream stick foundation and follow with my usual makeup routine and my face stays matte for HOURS. I will continue to use MOM forever!
Got this on sale at Target the other day for $10.50. lol. So maybe that's why I love it so much. My favorite perfume is Gucci Envy Me so I wanted to get something completely different to change it up because I've become so attached to floral scents. Once again...the price I paid may be a factor but I do like this perfume. Took awhile because I'm not used to wearing scents like this but now I love it. Got tons of compliments the other day. As far as staying power...I think it's good. Lasted me a good 6+ hours.
Blush -Black Radiance - Soft Honey ] [DISCONTINUED]
yellowteal 1/1/2011 9:40:00 PM
SOO Black Radiance definiely discontinued their sheer blush line. They have replaced it with their new Artisan Blushes which are baked blushes. I AM BEYOND DEVASTATED ABOUT THIS. Soft Honey is my favorite blush of all time. I use it almost everyday unless my look goes better with a pink blush. I can't even count how many compliments I got with this blush. I've been searching for a dupe since I realized it was discontinued and nothing seems to satisfy me. I'm so addicted to this blush I think that I am going to resort to calling Markwins themselves and demanding they send me every last Soft Honey they have. These blushes are beyond pigmented. I think you can still find them on eBay...ladies (esp WOC) DO NOT sleep on these blushes if you can get your hands on them...especially this color and Spiced Ginger. GORGEOUS.
I love Neutrogena Products and was in search of a light shower gel to give me a refreshed feeling after I shower because I live in Houston so the summers here are not only scorching hot but SUPER HUMID. Bought this on a whim because it was on sale...I want to like this but I simply cannot get over the smell! I feel like I smell like a boy :\ The smell kinda also reminds me of the smell that you get from their acne liquid/bar soaps--but way more concentrated. I've never really been the kind of girl to let smell deter me from a product--especially bath stuff because I always wear perfume and body spray anyway, but I also don't like feeling like I smell like a man. In act-- I'll probably end up giving this to my boyfriend. lol. I give it 3 lippies for its ability to do what it says it will do but for me the smell really does bring it down 2 notches because now I can't even benefit from all its good qualities! :(
Primer/ Corrector -Unlisted Brand - Monistat - Chafing Relief Powder-Gel
yellowteal 6/14/2010 2:58:00 PM
This stuff is amazing! Does the exact same job of any of the higher end primers or even drugstore primers for much less! You get SO much more product with this as well. Most primers don't give you more than 1.0 oz yet you get 1.5oz with this. Not to mention the fact that unlike some primers that have a pump (e.g. Smashbox) this comes in a tube so you can really squeeze out every last drop! Sometimes I even cut it open and get a couple more days of usage from this as well! I use this EVERYDAY and have been using it for about 4 years now and it has never broken me out, never irritated my skin, never clogged my pores...nothing! And this is coming from someone who has very oily skin and used to be plagued by acne. There are very few things in my makeup case that I would tell someone I really cannot live without but this is definitely one of them. It keeps my makeup in place and keeps a barrier between my face and makeup so that my oils don't come through as much. Anyone who wants to venture into face primers but doesn't want to shell out all the money for an expensive primer should head over to Wal-Mart and pick this up--it's only $6 at Wal-Mart!
Powder -Fusion Beauty - SkinFusion Bio Active Brightening Minerals
yellowteal 6/13/2010 1:33:00 AM
Got this for a whopping $2.00 at TJ Maxx LOL. I love this powder. It's completely translucent and gives my face a nice warmth all over. I get tons of compliments when I wear this whether it be over makeup or on my bare skin. It just gives a beautiful healthy natural glow. I think that this powder has been discontinued what a loss.
Polishes -New York Color - Long Wearing Nail Enamel
yellowteal 6/12/2010 2:31:00 AM
I LOVE these nail polishes. NYC has such a great color selection and these polishes are only $1! I know that a lot of these polishes are not true to color/too sheer. I agree--this is why I only gave them 4 lippies. I HAVE FOUND A WONDERFUL AND CHEAP SOLUTION TO THIS THOUGH! If you just take any generic white nail polish (I use Wet N Wild's white polish--another $1 steal) and put it on first, let it completely dry, THEN put on the NYC nail polish you will get an opaque looking color! Amazing! I do this all the time with their sheer nail polishes because I only like opaque colors. I actually did this today with their yellow nail polish because yellow is my favorite summer nail color. I went out today with these nails and got tons of compliments! If only they all knew my nails cost $2 muahahaha
Mascara -L'Oreal - HIP High Drama Volumizing Mascara
yellowteal 6/10/2010 8:41:00 PM
WOW! I can't believe how many bad reviews this mascara gets because this is one of my favorite mascaras! This plumps up my lashes amazingly. It looks like I am wearing fake lashes. I usually wear at least 2 different kinds of mascara on my lashes but with this I feel I could only use this and still get the effect of long voluminous dark flirty lashes that I love. This works better than my high end mascaras. The texture of this mascara is really creamy too so yes it may clump very easily BUT I have found that this can be avoided more if I wear just a little bit more primer than usual. I always stock up on this when CVS has its semi-annual beauty clearance sales because for some reason (judging by the bad reviews low sales performance) this is ALWAYS 75% off at my local CVS so I end up getting it for like $2.50. STEAL!
CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT THIS BLUSH. Seriously. This color is BEAUTIFUL on my dark skin. I own about 10-15 ranging from cheap drugstore blushes to some expensive high end blushes and this is the one that I reach for I'd say about 85% of the time. Can't go wrong with this blush if you are darker complected. I always joke and say this is my version of orgasm (orgasm comes off way too light on me, this blends beautifully with my skin tone and the gold flecks in it make it even more gorgeous!). Ah, seriously am obsessed with this blush. I hope they never discontinue golden pink! [knocks on wood]...hehe
I LOVE this bronzer. I am not sure exactly which shade I have but it's a very warm bronzy gold that compliments my dark skin beautifully. Sometimes I wear it alone on my cheeks and other times I'll just swipe a little over my blushes. I get SO many compliments with this stuff it's crazy. I bought it on clearance at CVS a couple of years ago and the other day I went to go and try to purchase another, but couldn't find it. I hope it was not on clearance because it was discontinued :( Oh yeah, it does have shimmer to it, but on me it never looks too shimmer/glittery appearance. It just gives me a gorgeous glow. Sometimes I will even put some on my shoulders and decollete to give me a beautiful (fake) glow.
Stick -Black Opal - True Color Creme Stick Foundation
yellowteal 6/10/2010 5:41:00 AM
I had high expectations for this foundation after all of the amazing reviews I had seen on the internet--especially on YouTube. While I do think this is a phenomenal foundation when it comes to quality, coverage, and price it is a terror for my oily skin--especially now that it's summertime. I wish my skin weren't so damn oily or I think this would be my absolute favorite foundation honestly. I'm ALL about full coverage and I've never come across a foundation that gave me better coverage. I have lots of faded scars left over from my acne days and with this foundation you would never know I had any flaws whatsoever on my skin! Amazing! It's also super easy to blend because of the creme consistency. No fears of streakiness like with liquid foundation. But like I said earlier, it is a definite horror for women with super oily skin like me. Even with the use of a face primer, my skin gets and feels super oily after awhile with this foundation and the look of my oils beginning to mix with this creme formula isn't always the best look lol. Don't be fooled like I was--it says that it's non-comedogenic, but it does still contain oils in it (I think I saw sesame oil on the list of ingredients). Such a shame. I wish Black Opal made a formula to suit those of us who have oily skin, but until then I will use this foundation very cautiously. PS - I put that I would purchase this again because I do feel like it's something I would like to have in my makeup case at all times just incase.
I love this nail polish so much! Black has always been a color staple for me as far as nail polish goes, especially with my toenails, and the quality of this polish + the price is unbelievable! I've been using this particular polish for years now, but before that I spent a long time looking for an opaque, cheap black nail polish and this is definitely it! You can find this at Wal-Mart for no more than $.99! Awesome. Any woman wanting a cheap, awesomely opaque and long lasting nail polish needs to skip the Sally Hansens and OPIs and pick up this bargain!
