Powder -Cover Girl - TruBlend Minerals Pressed Mineral Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
yearoftheliger 11/23/2009 5:17:00 PM
This was my HG foundation, so of course it's been discontinued. I love its velvety texture--surprisingly smooth and moisturizing for a powder. I don't need a ton of coverage, but dampening the sponge gives the powder enough opacity to cover up blemishes and under-eye circles. The overall effect looks airbrushed-perfect without being too heavy. I'm still clinging to the last traces of powder in the compact (425/Buff Beige, if anyone wants to trade!) while I track down a comparable replacement product or pay too much for the no-longer-available real deal. Come on,Cover Girl! You took away an excellent product and gave us another trendy but useless "mineral" powder! Just one lippy off packaging here, because the holes under the place in the compact where the sponge is stored got powder all over my purse...

Gels/Soaps -Dr. Bronner's - Almond Castille Soap

I've been using this soap for years and would recommend it to anybody! My boyfriend says it makes me smell like a cupcake. I also use it to hand-wash clothes, and diluted with water in a spray bottle for cleaning around the house. Also, the bottle is a trip. . .

Primer/ Corrector -DHC - Velvet Skin Coat

It minimized my pores and gave my skin a smooth, silky finish. Unfortunately, every time I used it I would get a raging pimple the next day. Not so pretty.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - heavy metal glitter liner (in general)
yearoftheliger 2/8/2007 7:12:00 AM
My favorite glitter anything! It's the only product that has come close to the kind of sparkle saturation I've been searching for all my spangled life. The brush is precise enough to create a thin, discrete line, or sweep sideways to cover the entire lid like decadent disco trash. The tube itself is sturdy and compact with a cute guitar logo. All of the colors are surprisingly wearable--I love "Spandex", and "Mullet" is one of the few greens that look good with my blue eyes. The only very minor drawbacks are that it takes too awkwardly long to dry and damned near impossible to take off. Still, these are a small price to pay for glitter of this caliber!

It smelled like an intriguing suntan lotion on everyone else. It smelled like bugspray on me.

Fragrances -MAC - Nirvana

Synthetic Nirvana is my favorite naughty fragrance! It's just musky enough, with a nice herbal bouquet to take the edge off, and very long-lasting. The packaging for these oils was fun because they came in sets of three vials--which unfortunately led me to give away two before I found out it was DC.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Clear Pore Treatment [DISCONTINUED]
yearoftheliger 2/8/2007 3:52:00 AM
Neutrogena, you have broken my heart! This clear gel managed to keep my pores tiny and pimples at bay for something like seven years--until it was discontinued. I've tried their "replacement" product that costs twice as much for half as much and doesn't do a thing. I was hoping C&C's Invisible Blemish Treatment could replace it, but it's sticky and reeks of alcohol. My face looks like a Sci-Fi movie with all the craters and black-hole pores I've got going on now. If anyone knows of a comparable salicylic acid gel treatment, please let me know!
