Eye Makeup Remover -Vichy - Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover for Sensitive Eyes
xyoru 7/17/2012 12:37:00 AM
Bought this because I was looking for a new eye makeup remover that would not leave a greasy feeling on my eye. It claims that it is a: Bi-phase waterproof eye makeup remover that protects eyelashes For women with sensitive skin and eyes that want to protect their eyelashes. I can't say much about it protecting eyelashes, I haven't been paying full attention to them but I do feel as if I have lost less eyelashes when using this remover. It's a nice remover, and can usually get all of my eye makeup (waterproof mascara and everything) with a couple of swipes. Price wise I considered this a tad expensive. Since there are cheaper drugstore removers that contain a bit more, they cost less. I believe it retails around $20CAD, but I got it on sale for around $15CAD. It also came with a sample of a face cream, so I thought it would be worth it to give it a shot. I use the cotton pads from costco to remove my makeup, and using it with this remover... something just irritates my eyes!! My eyes have become slightly swollen, and now the skin is peeling on my eyelids. I can't say what is in this that makes my eyes so irritated, but every time I use it my eyelid becomes extremely irritated. Because of the last issue, I would not repurchase. Given that there are other cheaper alternatives that don't irritate my eye, I'm sure I'll find something that will work the same.

Polishes -Revlon - Black With Envy
xyoru 5/21/2012 3:43:00 AM
Love this polish! I picked it up because I heard it was a dupe of Chanel's black pearl, and while it's not exactly similar, I fell in love with this! Application is smooth, 2 coats and it's opaque. My only problem is the product gunks up a little in my bottle and sometimes when applying it on the nail it doesn't apply nicely, also if I don't do it write it is prone to streaking. I can't say too much on wear, because I usually switch my polish every 4-7 days (whenever it starts peeling), but what I usually do is take this off, then reapply it! That's how much I love this colour on my nails! A definite repurchase if this is not LE (which I hope it isn't!), and for the price, I'm definitely willing to buy a backup!

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm in Pink Punch
xyoru 4/15/2012 7:59:00 PM
As a lip balm fanatic, I constantly reapply whenever so I carry a ton of glosses, lipsticks and lip chap with me wherever I am. The product itself I don't mind, it's actually quite moisturizing and really does feel like a lip balm on and it does not really dry out my lips. That being said the only thing I hate about this is the colour, one layer is not moisturizing enough, but two makes the colour pop out so much that it really clashes with my skin tone. That's also why I never use this just by itself, I do one layer then top off with a lip balm on top. Packaging is alright, just like a lip balm! But it does have a very strong smell... I've opened and used the product for 2 - 3 months now and it still smells nice! For a cheap tinted lip balm, it's a good product! However I wouldn't repurchase this colour. Maybe a different one, but I'm not much a fan of tinted lip balms anyway.

Shampoo -Dove - Refresh+Care - Invigorating Dry Shampoo
xyoru 3/28/2012 10:32:00 AM
Wow I can't even give this a proper review because I got one use out of it. Ridiculous! I originally bought this because I found blending in baby powder on my black hair didn't work too well. I was excited to use this the first time, thought it did a decent job but decided to give it another shot. 2 days later went back to use this and it doesn't work! There's liquid inside the can but nothing will spray out. Being in Canada and purchasing the product when it was newly released, I paid around $6 for this, and it ended up being a complete waste of money. UPDATE: I emailed Dove Canada about this problem and while they were friendly and responded to my email, in the end I received a complimentary coupon for a free product. While nice, I still would not repurchase this as there's obvious a problem with the bottle design. When I buy something like a dry shampoo, I won't listen to see if it's leaking out after the first use, I expected the product to be average quality as this IS a company that has produced many types of aerosol related products.

Masks -Freeman - Feeling Beautiful - Facial CLAY MASK Avocado & Oatmeal
xyoru 3/18/2012 2:22:00 AM
Since I was not able to find the mint julep mask in my area (was not sold ANYWHERE, even at my Sallys!), I decided to pick this up since I've heard that it's somewhat similar... and wow! I bought this one a whim when I saw it on sale for $4, for the price I figured why not! I read reviews on other freeman products and there was nothing but raves, so I decided to get this, and I am so glad I did! When I first used it, I applied a slightly thicker layer on the area where my pores are bigger, and on my t-zone. After leaving it on for 20 min or so I rinsed it off and immediately noticed that the dirt from my pores were coming out. After lightly exfoliating I applied the mask again in two days and the same thing happened. After using this every couple of days for the past 3 weeks, my pores have disappeared and slightly shrunk. Along with exfoliating regularly and using my clarisonic every night, it's significantly helped my pore area. It also has a nice cooling effect when you apply it, which I love because it's very calming on my skin. I don't worry too much about the moisturizing properties since I have extremely oily skin. Would definitely repurchase, and especially at the price it works fine!

Mascara -Revlon - Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara
xyoru 3/15/2012 9:49:00 PM
After trying the original grow luscious product, I wanted to try the plumping version to see if it's better. In my opinion, it's just about the same. While it adds decent volume, and even though I'm using the waterproof version, it doesn't seem to hold my curl. Definition and volume are mediocre at most, it's nice but nothing that another drugstore mascara can't do. The formula is like the original, slightly wetter in formula but became dry really quick. Once it got dry, it also began to flake more and smudge under my eyes. Also after a month of using this, I haven't found my lashes grow at all. Decent product but I'm sure there are better

Treatments (Eye) -Clinique - All About Eyes
xyoru 2/26/2012 1:58:00 AM
I had wanted this eye cream for so long, so when I finally saw this in a set with other products on sale for $50 at winners, I jumped right at that opportunity. After using it for months, I can't say I've seen a difference. I have dry undereyes, dark circles, and fine lines. I've seen no difference with this eye cream, and I'm disappointed since there was so much hype around the product. I don't mind so much dark circles, but I do want to help reduce my fine lines, so I won't be repurchasing this in the future. It does great for moisturizing, but not worth the price. Also I've found that when I use this under concealer, nothing happens. In fact, I've found that it kind of makes my concealer 'patch' together when I try to apply it. I've tried with many different concealers (even after letting it sink in for a long time), it does not make any difference.

Mascara -Revlon - Grow Luscious - waterproof
xyoru 1/26/2012 7:02:00 PM
The formula is... rather dry. Not that I really mind, but I've found that after 2 weeks it's turning dry very fast. Also the smell of it when I first used it smelled like older mascaras that I've used. I've been testing this and maybelline colossal at the same time, colossal on one eye, this on the other. I've found that they both lengthen my lashes and add a bit of volume, but this one flakes and smudges A LOT under my eyes. The past couple of days whichever eye I've worn this on irritates my eye. As a contact wearer, it's extremely uncomfortable! Not to mention whenever I take it off, I wash my eye makeup off, and hours later I find there's still residue under my bottom lash line. As for the brush size, I don't mind. I like how it's slightly tapered at the end, so it's easy for me to coat my smaller lashes on the top (not the bottom, I still suck at coating my bottom lashes). Also I don't know if it's helped my eyelashes grow any longer, I'd have to try it longer but I feel like it's going to dry out soon. Overall, decent, but not worth the price. I wouldn't repurchase.

Eyeliner -E.L.F. - Cream Eyeliner - All Colors
xyoru 1/7/2012 12:17:00 PM
You get what you pay for. I bought this a long time ago, when I was first experimenting with gel eyeliners, so mine doesn't come with a brush. For a while it sat in my drawer because I forgot that I had even bought this! A year later I finally opened it up and it dried out a bit (even though I had never used it), it was still creamy, worked well, and after using it another 2-3 times, it's fairly dry now and doesn't apply as nicely. At the beginning, it was creamy and pigmented, now I have to swipe at my eyeline two or three times before the colour even shows up! I'll try reviving it through koren's method, but I'd definitely not repurchase and stick to the PF gel liners (better, cheaper if you can get them on a deal and it comes with two other colours!)

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Salux Nylon Japanese Bath Towel
xyoru 1/7/2012 12:11:00 PM
I bought this at a local asian grocery store, I was browsing through the beauty section when I stumbled upon this! I've heard rave reviews of it from here and figured at $5, why not?! It'd definitely be cheaper if I bought it on the website, but to try I figured I might as well. After my first use I realized how absolutely smooth my skin was. The only exfoliator I've ever used was one from bath and body works that I received from a friend for a birthday, I hate exfoliating with it because it's so messy and doesn't do as good of a job as this towel! Would definitely repurchase!

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Vaseline Intensive Care - Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning Rich Hydrating Lotion
xyoru 1/7/2012 12:01:00 PM
Amazing. I use this on and off because I personally don't like moisturizing (such a hassle!), but with the harsh winters here I've started again after I shower. Comes with a pump, it's cheap, smells good, works, what else do you need! I usually buy it in a pack at costco, so it's even cheaper.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - e.l.f. Studio 11 Piece Brush Collection
xyoru 1/6/2012 10:55:00 AM
Amazing! Previously before owning the studio collection, I owned the regular elf brushes (that are $1 each) and they sucked. I ended up throwing out a majority of them because they were scratchy and terrible. I originally bought this set just for the flat top powder brush, I had heard great reviews about it and didn't want to order just one brush online (being in Canada, one brush and shipping is not worth it at all). I found this at my local winners and immediately bought it! First off all the brushes are amazingly soft, especially the complexion brush. I've experienced minimal shedding with some brushes, and some of the ferrules are loose/have fallen off. Easily knocked back into place, but for the price I can't complain. In my opinion, the brush holder/bag it comes with stinks!! Elf products are generally a hit or miss (depending on the 'batch' they're made in) and most of mine have been a hit! For the price you definitely aren't losing anything with getting a few brushes. :)

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Panoxyl Antibacterial Acne Aquagel 5%
xyoru 1/3/2012 12:33:00 AM
Amazing, this worked WONDERS on my skin! My sister originally bought this because she has sensitive skin, but it didn't work for her so she left the whole bottle just on the side. At the time I was suffering the worst break out of acne ever! I've had fairly clear skin, not much acne to deal with until I switched moisturizers one day and all hell broke loose on my face! I was constantly breaking out - particularly my cheek and jaw area. I've never been through such a situation before, and I didn't know how to get rid of my acne! After watching goss' video on acne and how he cured it, I figured it was worth a shot, found this lying around and gave it a try. I applied it just as goss said, not just on the spots but my whole cheek and jaw area. I applied this at night, left it on and woke up and washed it off with cetaphil and a scrubby pad (similar to the ones that come with the l'oreal face washes). The first few times I applied it, it stung my face like no other. As it was my first time using BP on my face, I expected some stinging but it hurt quite a bit! After using it around 5 days in a row, wherever I applied it my face became extremely dry, and my skin started flaking. So I began using a vitamin e cream and a exfoliator to combat my dry skin. After one month, I realized my skin became extremely sensitive, so I started using this once a week, and the rest of the week I spent treating the dry spots of my face. Now a couple months have passed and I can say my skin is bump free! All that's left is to even out my skin tone and fade some acne scars. Other than that my skin is back to the way it was before I switched moisturizers! YMMV but this worked amazingly on me, and I'm so glad my sister decided to leave it sitting around otherwise I wouldn't have bothered trying this. I would recommend trying the aquagel version, I have oily combo skin and after using this for a couple of weeks decided to try the oily skin version of this and found that it was not as effective as this.

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
xyoru 12/31/2011 11:45:00 AM
I had extremely high hopes for this top coat. I bought it at sallys for around $12 (in Canada) and it came with the free base coat (which equally sucks). Upon first application, it was easy to apply and I liked how shiny it made my nails look. It stunk like no other, but for the shine... I could deal with it. After using it more often, I realized that the tips of my nails shrunk quite a bit. After using 1/4 of the bottle it began to thicken, as you go towards the halfway point it becomes thicker and thicker and no matter how much nail polish thinner I used, it eventually became too thick to use. I ended up throwing it out right after I passed the halfway point. For the price, there are better. I haven't tried any fast drying top coats that leave a shiny finish like seche vite, but I've heard rave reviews on Sally Hansen's top coats so I will be giving those a try next.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal Waterproof
xyoru 12/31/2011 11:38:00 AM
Amazing. I love mascaras, as my eyelashes are somewhat straight, I look for something that provides volume and holds a curl. I also really like the natural look, on most days I just apply concealer and mascara and just walk out the door. I LOVE the brush, when I first opened it there was little mascara residue on the tip of the wand, and it looked like there was barely any product on the wand itself!! But it evenly coated my lashes, didn't add a lot of volume (a bit), but I saw more length from this than volume, which I don't mind. It holds my curl really well, and when used on my bottom lashes there is no flakiness or smudging that occurs! As with most maybelline mascaras, the formula is more 'wet' when you first open it. I'm not one to coat my mascaras but when I do, it is rather hard with this one to layer coat after coat, it dries quickly and gives my lashes the "hard"/"crunchy" feeling. But as I said before, I do prefer the natural look, which is why I rarely layer. Overall I love this mascara! I don't often repurchase the same drugstore mascara (because there's SO many to try! :D), but this one will definitely be repurchased in the future
