Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Marc Anthony - Strictly Curls Curl Defining Lotion
xxnikki 4/8/2013 2:39:00 PM
This is a review for the curl defining styling lotion which has a gel like consistancy, NOT the curl defining creme. I also got a big bottle for $7 which is why I think it's a good deal, if it were more expensive I don't know if I would choose it. But I really like this because it gives my curls as much definition and hold as any gel I've used, but I don't need to use as much and it doesn't tangle my hair which gel tends to do, I also just prefer the way it feels in my hair, very light and soft. I didn't notice any difference in frizz control which is a bummer but I really just wanted it to replace my gel.

Brows -Lancome - Le Crayon Poudre in Brunet
xxnikki 2/19/2013 11:38:00 AM
So this pencil is great, it is a creamy brown that doesn't smudge as bad as most creamy brow pencils I have tried(If this is to expensive for you and you live in Canada try out Marcelle brow pencil in brown, it is pretty much a dupe for this but it will smudge if you don't set it) So I thought this could be my HG if it lasted me at least 6months because it is so expensive. The color of it is a medium-dark brown that is not reddish although it's not exactly ash either. Why I will NOT be buying it again is that it is useless now that I tried to sharpen it once. I bought it 4 days ago and it is now half the size and still not sharpened because it just kept being eaten up by the sharpener. Some have said you need to use a lancome sharpener but some say they have and it still just eats the pencil so for something that might last me a month or 2 and is $30? I don't think so. If lancome fixed that problem this would be my favorite.

Brows -Maybelline - Define-A-Brow
xxnikki 2/19/2013 11:32:00 AM
I tried this in medium and dark brown, medium is way to reddish but dark brown is a good ash brown and since it's not incredibly creamy it doesn't seem to go on to dark. Comb on the end is useless-every brow brush should come with a spoolie! Not sure how long it will last so we'll see if it's worth it but for someone that is never satisfied with the ashyness in brown brow pencils I think I would keep purchasing it. Some are saying dark brown has been discontinued-I live in Canada and there are still a lot here but maybe they will get rid of it. My other fav brow pencil is universal dark brown by annabelle, it is pretty much the exact same as this one.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Unstoppable Eyeliner
xxnikki 7/20/2012 12:45:00 PM
I wanted to badly to like this eyeliner, I am going camping this weekend and I needed a waterproof eyeliner so I got this with high hopes. It is not a very creamy formula which I found ok at first but if I try to do any sort of a wing or flick at the end of my eye I have to pull my eye tight and it's still difficult. Have to go over the line several times and push fairly hard just to get a dark color-I got it in espresso. Worst thing about it though is that it breaks. It has broken 4 times in the week that I've had it. Twice the tip broke off as soon as I took the lid off and twice the tip broke as I was applying it. I think it happens because you have to push hard to get a good color payoff and the tip gets weak and breaks. Whatever the reason, I've never had this happen before and there has to be a better waterproof eyeliner out there, even if it costs more it would be worth it.

Shave Products -Aveeno - Positively Smooth Shave Gel
xxnikki 6/26/2012 7:59:00 PM
This works quite well. I usually only use the intuition razors because I get a very close shave and almost never get razor burn but that stuff is to expensive to keep buying on the regular so I got a gilette razor and this stuff and I've only gotten razor burn once in 2 months so that's pretty good. Lasted me 2 months and I shave every other day.

Styling Products -Garnier - Pure Clean Gel
xxnikki 6/19/2012 12:42:00 PM
For me, this is kind of the best of both worlds. It has the hold of a gel without the crunch or wet look. I have long, fine, wavy/curly hair and a lot of it. The more I scrunch my hair, the curlier it gets but I need something to hold it that way otherwise as soon as I touch it or the wind gets at it, it will just be frizz. I put this in my hair as soon as I got out of the shower and put it in a bun for the night, next morning my hair was still damp so I put a bit more in and scrunched and after about 15mins when it was dry I had nice defined curls and waves throughout. I drove to work with my window down to see what the wind would do to the left side of my hair and to my surprise there was just some flyaways but the curls themselves were still in tact. I got this for $2 at wal mart so it was well worth it EDIT:Been using for a month now and I still like it, I only use about 2 dime/quarter sizes, 1 for each side of my hair, any more than that and I do get crunchiness. Also I stopped using this when my hair was almost dry because it seemed to add frizzyness.

Hair Color -Garnier - Nutrisse Nourishing Color Foam
xxnikki 6/5/2012 11:58:00 AM
I bought this in 6rr light intense auburn, its from the commercial with tina fey. This cost me about $10 and I only bought 1 box for my long wavy hair-for reference my longest layers hit my boobs and my shortest hit my collar bone, happy to say that 1 box did cover it all although I used every last bit of it. The pic on the box is much more of a brown color in my opinion and I was wondering if it would turn red at all, most of my hair was medium brown except my roots which were my natural dark brown color. I was happy to see that this dye actually penetrated my brown hair all the way to the ends but the roots are slightly more vibrant red than the rest but it doesn't look weird or anything. My only complaint would be that certain areas on my roots didn't take to the dye for some reason even though I know I soaked them. Specifically the hair right by my ears and the very crown of my head, it's not to bad right now because the color is such a reddish brown and my hair was brown before that it blends well but it's still annoying. The smell of this stuff is exactly what you'd expect when using permanent dye, hair feels fine after using conditioner. Now for the color- very hard to explain, if you've seen the commercial where they use this color it's pretty close to that girls hair, if not, it's not some intense red like the little mermaid, it's a nice auburn color, brown but somehow still most definitely red. As for the foam, I've never used a foam dye before and I think I liked it. At first I was nervous because unlike a cream it doesn't soak your hair the same way so I wasn't sure if I'd done certain areas yet or not but after I got half way done my head I could tell and I do feel like the foam may have gone a little farther than if it was just a cream. All in all I liked this color a lot, I was scared about doing red in my hair as I have pale skin with pink undertones but it looks really good without being crazy red and it brings out my green eyes. I would buy this product again. EDIT: I bought a second box the next day to do touch ups, it still didnt take at the hair near my ears for some reason! I love this color red on my so much but it does fade pretty fast, although I've heard all red dyes fade faster than others so it's probably not just this brand

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Volume
xxnikki 6/4/2012 1:54:00 PM
I have this version in waterproof and it really does not budge, not even with makeup remover or oil which is kind of annoying but I can live with it. I have a natural curl in my lashes and they are fairly long so I look for more volume and some length in my mascaras. This gave me some volume but it's greatest strength is the length it gives. My lashes almost look fake when I put on 3 or 4 coats of this-very good if you are looking for some drama. However, I hate the brush because its so big and often times gets on my eyelid, I always seem to make a little bit of a mess when using it. But as a dramatic mascara this is what I'll stick with after trying so many department and drugstore mascaras.

Mascara -Maybelline - great lash curved brush
xxnikki 6/1/2012 1:55:00 PM
Mascaras are a product that I think really depend on what sort of eyelashes you have and what you are trying to achieve. For myself, my eyelashes naturally curl and are longish so I want to give them more volume and make them longer. I want them to fan out and not look spidery or clumpy at all, basically I want it to look like maybe I'm wearing false lashes. This gives me pretty good length but almost no volume, I like it after I put on one or 2 coats but if I put on more than that my lashes start to look weird. I like the brush a lot because I always have an issue with mascara getting on my eyelid but it doesn't give me the desired results. All in all I'd say if you are looking for a nice mascara without any drama this is a pretty good product.

Brows -Revlon - Colorstay Brow Enhancer
xxnikki 6/1/2012 1:37:00 PM
I get this in blackened brown because I need a brown without any hint of red in it, if you apply it with a heavy hand it will appear almost black but if you do light strokes it is a very nice dark brown. You do need to have some hair for this to adhere to as it is a waxy crayon sort of thing. For me this is much better than the pencil as it lasts me almost 3x as long. I dont mind the highlighter on the other end, I dont use it much but sometimes for the corner or to quickly line my eyes.

Skincare - Body -Bio Oil - All Products
xxnikki 2/16/2012 2:08:00 PM
This stuff is a great moisturizer and does work pretty good for uneven skin tone. I don't really have any scars on my face and I didn't notice anything dramatic but a few weeks ago I did notice that my skin was looking great without any makeup on it, especially in pictures. My problem was that my skin is quite dry and sensitive so any lotions I would use to moisturize would irritate my skin, but without moisturizing I would break out. I stopped washing my face and started using jojoba oil as a moisturizer, this pretty much cleared up all my face issues. I switched to bio oil because it is easier to get a large quantity, smells much nicer and my face has never ever felt so soft. Bonus: I can use it anywhere on my body. It does leave your face pretty greasy right after so I put some on and rub it in for like 30 seconds, then pat dry my face. 5 mins later makeup can go on. UPDATE:Got so many clogged pores on my chin so I had to stop using this. UPDATED AGAIN: I still had tons of clogged pores after I stopped using this so it wasn't causing them. Still probably won't use anymore as there seem to be more natural things I can use.

Eyeliner -Revlon - ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen
xxnikki 9/5/2011 2:17:00 PM
This stuff sucks!! Revlon has other liquid eyeliners in the color "blackened brown" and they are really dark brown but this pen one is a super light brown that hardly even shows up on my pale skin! A huge waste of money, I wont even bother trying their black even if it is dark because this was just a big waste of my money and I can't return it. Fucking revlon.

Styling Products -TRESemme - Naturals Lightweight Mousse with Sweet Orange Extract
xxnikki 7/8/2011 2:25:00 PM
I really wanted to like this because I use the tresemme shampoo and conditioner and was very pleased with it but ya this just doesn't cut it. I was looking for something that would give me a lighter hold then my gel so I wouldn't get any crunchy pieces but something that would also bring out the waves in my hair especially the top layer since it tends to get really frizzy. This stuff made my hair a little bit sticky but mostly my hair just didn't look nice at all when it was dry, it didn't help any frizz, didn't bring out any wave or curl, didn't give me any volume so I returned it and got the "catch the wave" mousse by aussie and it worked much much better and it was cheaper so yay.

Styling Products -Aussie - Catch the Wave Mousse + Leave-In Conditioner
xxnikki 7/8/2011 2:22:00 PM
I usually only use creme gels for my hair but lately it's been looking blah so I thought I'd try something else. I've used this product 2 times so far and both times I've really liked the results I got, however, for some reason while it is drying it doesn't look nice but as soon as it's dry it looks great. What I was looking for was something that would keep my waves and especially bring them out on the top layer of my hair which tends to be frizzier, also I need a bit of volume on my crown to even out the volume on the bottom from the curls. This product gave me all over even curls/waves and enough volume on top without any sort of crunchy or sticky finish. I'll update if things start to go south but so far so good and for the price, I'm very pleased. UPDATE: Been using this for about a year and I do like it but the hold is a little to flexible for me. Although I like that it is so light weight it doesn't add any extra wave to my hair and on days when it's really windy or I touch my hair more it just can't keep the curls like a gel can.

Eyeliner -Cover Girl - Line Exact
xxnikki 7/8/2011 2:16:00 PM
It's ok. I prefer brown eyeliner on myself but their brown was really light brown so I got black brown which I find to be a good color. It is kind of watery or something because I have to go over the line a few times to get it as dark and full as I want also, don't even bother trying to put this on if your eyelids are sweaty or anything because it won't go on. So that's really my only complaint, the formula leaves something to be desired but I can't find a felt tip liquid waterproof eyeliner for less than $15 at wal mart or shoppers so I use this when I need waterproof and I use loreal eyeliner when I don't because the formula is much better.
