Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish Matte - Kate Moss 110
xstarb0rn 5/13/2013 10:32:00 PM
Recently I either threw aways or gave away roughly forty lipsticks. I didn't use them for whatever reasons and I only wanted lipsticks I would love to use. I had been on the hunt for some infamous MAC shades. Most od the ones I want are either limited edition or always sold out. That along with not believing in spending $15 on a single lipstick lead me to find drug store dupes of the colors I'd researched. One color that I'd seen online made me quiver with jealousy. The MAC shade is called "Party Parrot." Thanks to rimmel, I have found the perfect dupe for it in the color "110" feom the Kate Moss matte collection. It's a true dupe for MAC in the sense that both shades are matte. Maybelline's "Shocking Coral" is a supposed dupe for "Party Parroy" but Maybelline's lipstick has a glossy finish. That's not a dupe, in my opinion. Anyway, I couldn't be happier with my recent purchase of this lipstick. :)

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
xstarb0rn 5/1/2013 5:31:00 PM
I still remember buying this product. I had high hopes for it. I had researched it on youtube and figured that I'd read up on it. I was mistaken, though. I have now come to find out that this product is fantastic for people without oily skin. I'm one of the very unfortunate women that has uncontrollably oily skin. This foundation somehow made my face look patchy and oily at the same time. It wore off in a matter of hours, every single time I applied it. I do admit that it is very easy to blend. I often find myself thinking, "It's only $8. Should I try it again?" Then I remember why I cannot stand the product. Pros: Blendable Small packaging Cons: Short wear life Causes dry patches Doesn't work with oily skin There is no pump

Foundations -Revlon - Nearly Naked Foundation
xstarb0rn 2/23/2013 2:17:00 PM
I am a huge fan of Revlon foundations. I wanted to try this foundation when I first heard about it but I wasn't completely persuaded. The Nearly Naked foundation was constantly compared to the Urban Decay Naked foundation when the Nearly Naked foundation was first on shelves. I have EXTREMELY oily skin; I have not tried the Naked foundation because of the amount of oil my skin produces. Finally I was strolling through Rite Aid with my sister and I saw that the Revlon Naked foundation was 40% off from the original price. I did the math and buying it at Rite Aid was cheaper than buying it at Wal-Mart so I had to hop on it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that when I moisturized correctly and set my foundation how natural it looked! It truly does look like natural skin. The only problem that I have with the foundation itself is that it does tend to become oily on my face toward the end of my day, but that is easily fixed with blotting and setting powder. The transfer factor is almost non-existent to me. I have learned to not touch my face through the years of me wearing makeup so that I won't mess it up. I got lasik eye surgery right after I bought this foundation and I wore it to my surgery and it was not messed up AT ALL. My face was being touched by the doctor and tears and steroid/lubricating eye drops were rolling down my face. I think that is a statement that should be mentioned. I have been using this foundation for roughly two and a half weeks and I have already recommended to it to my makeup wearing friends. I couldn't be happier with it. On the other hand, I do still love my other Revlon foundations. I will use my ColorStay foundation when I know I'm going to be out for eighteen hours a day and I will not be able to make touch ups often. I wear my Photo Ready foundation when I'm going out for a night. The Revlon Nearly Naked foundation is the foundation I wear when I am going out for the day and I want something with a little more staying power than my Garnier BB Cream. PROS: lasts for a long period of time (about 10 hrs) the natural finish leaves your face touchable without messing up makeup doesn't need to be set with powder CONS: does become oily after extended wear there is no pump (to me it's not a deal breaker) shade selection could be a little larger, but it doesn't fall short

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm
xstarb0rn 7/19/2012 6:34:00 PM
I can honestly say that when I'm in a rush or just going to work that this is the only lip product I use. Also, it's not too harsh to keep my boyfriend from wanting to kiss me. (He doesn't like to have to wipe off lipstick all of the time.) I would say that the Baby Lips Lip Balm is right in between chapstick and lipbutter. I love chapstick because I have terrible lips if I don't condition them. I don't like lipbutters because I feel as if they make my lips peel more than chapstick. This product on the other hand has actually improved the condition of my lips. I went from having terribly cracked lips to having literally, "baby soft" lips in about a week. No other lip product has done that for me except for Caramex.. Or my Lush lip scrub. I tended to use my Lush lip scrub before I applied really bright lipsticks. Now that I have started using the Baby Lips Lip Balm I barely reach for my Lush lip scrub. Pros: decent color pay off good for sensitive lips lasts a long time fairly inexpensive considering all that it does Cons: packaging is lacking a bit color selection is lacking

Tinted Moisturizer -Cover Girl - CG Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer - Medium to Dark
xstarb0rn 5/19/2012 8:38:00 AM
"Would you buy this product again?" I wish I could've scrolled down to "I already have." I typically hate everything Cover Girl. When I first started using makeup I thought, "I want something cheap and nice." I'd only really noticed Cover Girl commercials and I guess I was a little prejudice against all other companies. I started out with their True Blend foundation and noticed that it only lasted about three to four hours on my face. After buying more shitty products from the company, I decided to end my spending on them. So I did, until I was shopping in the grocery store and my boyfriend at the time pointed out that there was makeup on sale. I'm a sucker for anything cheap so I took a look and it was the CG Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer. I bought both the light to medium and the medium to dark ones. I'd never used a tinted moisturizer because I love full coverage since I still have acne scars that are resistant to any kind of treatment. I tried using the moisturizer by itself and found that it had nice light to medium coverage, but was not completely what I was looking for. I continued using it through the summer because it's nice to have a fresh face when you're sweating in the humidity of NY. This summer I decided to try and use it as if it's a foundation and I've completely fallen for this product. My steps to using this product are: moisturize (it's habit), prime, UD Oil De Slick spray, conceal, apply tinted moisturizer, conceal under eyes, powder, blush/bronze, UD Oil De Slick again, and done. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be using this even when it's not warm because it leaves me with a nice dewy finish that's not GREASY. I'm just afraid that this product won't be manufactured anymore because it doesn't get a lot of hype. I found it by accident and not many people mention it. I know they have a new/similar line but I like to stay loyal to my face products and I'm kind of afraid to try anything new. Pros: dewy finish price light to medium coverage fast easy to find Cons: shade selection fear of it not being sold anymore

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked 2 Palette
xstarb0rn 5/19/2012 8:21:00 AM
I have to admit that at first I had no desire to own this product. I thought it was pointless since I already owned the original Naked palette. One day when I was merrily enjoying my time at Ulta with my best friend, I ran into the Naked 2. I decided to at least look at it in person and swatch some colors. I first swatched YDK and fell in love with that shade. Then I swatched about two more and thought to myself, "I would buy this palette if I had more incentive." I had on me a $20 gift card from my boyfriend but it still wasn't worth it to me. My best friend told me when I said out loud that I was thinking about buying just the YDK shadow that he was going to give me $20 for my birthday too. That was the incentive I needed. I ended up only spending like $15 of my own dollars. I'm glad I did get it because I actually do LOVE this palette just as much as the original one, or maybe even more. I regret bashing it as much as I did. The eyeshadows are so smooth and velvety. They last a little bit longer than the ones from the Naked palette. I don't think the shadows from Naked 2 have ever creased on me, and that includes the night where I was too tired to wipe off my makeup. It's definitely got more of a taupe feel to it rather than a bronze feel as the first one has. Pros: everything Cons: the price- It's actually not too bad if you'll use the hell out of three or more shadows. Each shadow on its own costs about $20. It's just logical to buy the palette packaging- it's annoying to close every once in a while

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Dream Matte Pressed Powder
xstarb0rn 5/1/2012 6:27:00 AM
I'm going to start this review off by saying that I already have a back up in my makeup collection. I obviously love this powder. I find this setting powder to stay true to its word. Even throughout the day, my skin doesn't become too oily. Towards the end with the use of this powder and my UD Oil Deslick spray, my makeup just has a slight dewy finish. I own the MAC Mineralized Skinfinish powder and I must say that I prefer the Maybelline Dream Matte powder over it. The MAC powder broke me out to no end. Not only that, but my Maybelline powder gives slightly better coverage. Pros: Coverage Price Matte finish Cons: Packaging is terrible

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
xstarb0rn 4/2/2012 7:50:00 AM
Ok, I first bought this product nearly three years ago when it was being promoted like crazy. That was before I used makeup brushes or knew the proper technique to apply any sort of makeup. Needless to say, I hated the foundation. I blamed the coverage and streakyness on it. I swore I would never use another Revlon product again since the Revlon lip stains had also failed me (those really did fail me.) Since then I broke my vow and I caved in to buying two Revlon lipsticks since they were on sale at Big Lots. I really do love them. I figured I would research the Revlon Photoready Foundation more since I was running out of my Maybelline 24 HR SuperStay. Youtube and Google had nothing but good things to say about the Photoready foundation so I was like, "Screw it, I'll try it and keep my receipt this time." I'm so glad that I did try it. I went to NYC with my bf and forgot to put concealor on. We took about ten pictures together towards the end of the day and I noticed that my makeup looked fantastic. I had a natural looking glow to my face and none of my problem areas with old acne scars were showing. I love finding foundations that can be used without concealers. I don't think I have any issues with this foundation. I could see where some people might not appreciate it due to there being slight sparkles in it, but I honestly cannot notice them on my face. I think they do add a nice effect in pictures without it looking like you're wearing a mask. The thing I might love the most about this foundation is that I have oily skin and try to hide it as much as possible. With this foundation, it just makes my skin look dewey and refreshed. I've never found that in a foundation. Before purchasing the Revlon Photoready foundation, I was very close to purchasing the MUFE HD foundation. I'm so glad that I didn't because I don't even like wearing foundation during the summer time. Pros: Obviously photo friendly Great coverage (medium - full depending on how you apply it) Long wearing Natural looking Dewey finish is nice on even oily skin Sex proof Cons: Color selection A little does not go a long way (I bought mine in early February and it's about half way gone.) The cover wasn't fit properly to the bottle

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation
xstarb0rn 4/2/2012 7:21:00 AM
I typically research foundations before I buy them, even if they are drug store foundations. I've had bad experiences with Covergirl, Neutrogena, and possibly another brand. When I looked on Youtube and saw that people from Miami claimed this was matte and did actually last a long period of time, I thought this foundation was too good to be true. The foundation itself is very matte when you apply a powder on top of it. I ended up buying it and I tested it out without a primer or moisturizing. I initially hated it and thought to myself, "Not even a primer can fix this." For some reason though, I couldn't bring myself to return the Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation. The main reason I hated this foundation is because it left my entire face looking dry. I have THE OILIEST FACE ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH and I thought there was something wrong. I threw it in my makeup drawer designated to the items that I barely used but if in an emergency I would attempt again. That day came when I was running out of my Revlon Colorstay Foundation and I didn't want to use the last of it when I was going in for a short shift at work. I took the proper steps to applying foundation: cleansing my face, moisturizing my face, priming my face, and for my oily sisters- using the Urban Decay Deslick Spray. Since then I have experienced nothing but great things from this foundation. I've even worn this foundation with just my moisturizer and setting spray because I forgot to pack my primer for an over night stay at my sister's house and it lasted literally all day throughout my travels to NYC and long hours in a hospital. The only thing that happened this time without the primer is I could feel the foundation break down slowly throughout the day. I cannot blame that on the foundation especially since I wore it from 5AM to 11PM and there was a slight noticeable difference from how it wore when I first applied it to how it wore when I removed it. My advice for someone wishing to try this would be to buy this if you have oily skin; if you have normal to dry skin then it will highlight your dry patches or make it seem as if you have more than you really do. Cleanse, moisturize, and prime your face. If you're an oily person then I strongly suggest using a setting spray as well. Pros: MATTE FINISH (When I say Matte, I mean perfectly dry when used with a powder.) Doesn't feel too heavy Lasts literally 25 Hrs (I've fallen asleep with it on.) Does not cause break outs (Based off of my experience with it) A little goes a long way FULLLLLLL Coverage (You barely need concealer.) Sex proof Cons: The packaging (Product comes out of the tube when you don't put any pressure on the end.) The shade selection (All 7-10 of their shades seem very tan. I am in between what I would say is tan and dark skinned and I decided to go with 300- Sand.)
