Sweet dreams is a pretty natural pink color will gold undertones that won't look bad on anyone. However, the consistency of the gloss is too sticky for my liking and the price is steep for my wallet. Considering I can find much better quality lippies at the drugstore, I will not be repurchasing this.
Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15
xosandy 11/18/2012 8:33:00 PM
I received this as a gift from Sephora for my birthday. The packaging is adorable, well made and sturdy. As for the product itself, it was a bit drying which sort of defeats the purpose of it being a lip "treatment." I liked that it had SPF15 but the smell was too tangy for me. It wasn't awful but I could do without smelling like oranges all day. It retails for $22 which is an insane amount of money to spend on a product I could get at the drugstore for a fraction of the price.
Eyeliner -Rimmel - Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer - Noir
xosandy 11/1/2012 9:37:00 PM
I wanted to love this after reading all the rave reviews on MUA but this just didn't work for me. For one, the color was so faint that I had to go over the line multiple times. Now I wouldn't have minded much if I didn't have to tug and pull on my eyelids. It literally felt like too much work had to be put in to get this darn liner to even work. It really was too much of an effort when there are so many other options on the market. I swear I thought I was going to poke my eye out with this liner as a result of frustration. Within an hour, the liner disappeared and it looked like I didn't even put anything on. I've tried this on the waterline and had to drag that thing across my eye. Unless you want premature wrinkles, don't do it! Unfortunately, I have yet to find a retractable eyeliner that has wowed so my search continues.
Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF15
xosandy 11/1/2012 9:22:00 PM
I grabbed this on a whim a couple months ago in search of a HG moisturizer. This isn't it. One of the few positives I can say about this product is that the pump is nice and travel-friendly. While I do like that it contains SPF, it didn't do what it claims to do: moisturize (doh!). I've used it for several months and time and time again, it dries out my skin and leaves little flakes around. It also stung the heck out of the area around my eyes even though I've never put it directly on there. It is a pain to deal with especially if you're a daily contact lens wearer like me. Simply put, this is a disappointment!
Plus White Xtra didn't whiten my teeth at all. I used it for 2-3 months and did not see any results. Cheap but ineffective product.
Treatments -Neutrogena - On the Spot Acne Treatment Vanishing Formula
xosandy 4/13/2012 7:10:00 PM
Good for acne spot treatment but it does take several days so you do have to be patient. I do, however, find that after several months of use it does lose its effectiveness. I do appreciate that the percentage of BP in this product isn't as high (which may contribute to why it takes longer to fully work) so it isn't as irritating to the skin and you don't feel like you want to rip your face off.
Lips -Revlon - Color Burst lip butter - Cotton Candy
xosandy 3/17/2012 10:06:00 PM
After months of stalking my local drugstore, I finally found a lip butter. Needless to say, I'm quite disappointed after all the hype. The color is simply too sheer for my skin tone. It doesn't look like I'm wearing anything on my lips. Read: pigmentation is terrible. In terms of staying power, the wear is okay. Since you don't get much product, I tend to use it quite sparingly. This really does feel smooth and buttery on your lips though. I do like that it's very moisturizing. The packaging is also cute and chic! I really like that there is a window so you can see the actual color of the product. Price-wise, there is pretty expensive for what it's worth. I do like the other Revlon lip lines so I had high hopes for the lip butters. Unfortunately, I won't ever repurchase Cotton Candy again (waste of $8) but I'll still give the more pigmented colors a chance.
Polishes -Sally Hansen - Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color "Rosy Future"
xosandy 3/17/2012 8:51:00 PM
Rosy Future is a beautiful gorgeous raspberry color with very slight shimmers. I absolutely adore the color because it's so feminine and girly. It isn't one note and the application is so easy! It was on clearance when I bought it so I don't know if it's discontinued or not now.
Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
xosandy 3/17/2012 5:23:00 AM
I don't love NARS but this ELF bronzer and blush duo is a definite dupe for it. The bronzer isn't. I don't hate it but I don't love it. I use it to contour but it isn't always the easiest to blend. I do, however, like to use this when I prefer more dramatic face makeup. The blush contains too much glitter for my taste and there is a lot of fallout. One thing I do like is that you get a ton of product and your money's worth. Overall I think it's an average product and I much prefer the bronzer over the blush.
I picked up a Jordana nail polish in Chinatown (yep, Chinatown!) randomly because the price was ridiculously cheap and I wanted to expand my nail polish collection. Right now I only have one shade in Coppertone -- a muted, wearable red that isn't flashy -- and I was very surprised by easily the application process was. For less than a dollar, Jordana is a steal and there's a variety of fun colors. Compare that to the "higher end" nail polish brands. I was also pleasantly surprised that it lasted a good 4 days before chipping. Thumbs up, Jordana! You've done well.
Palettes -Urban Decay - 15 year anniversary palette
xosandy 3/4/2012 8:03:00 PM
My bff bought this for me on my birthday and I absolutely am in love with it. The packaging is beautiful and I love keeping it out for display. I do prefer to bring this with me even when I travel just because the colors are so much more versatile and I can put so many looks together. All I use is two rubber bands to secure it --no big deal. I've never had a problem with that. I like that the other side of the cover is a nice, big mirror which becomes really handy. I do occasionally get fingerprint marks but that isn't anything a tissue can't handle. I don't know if I'll ever finish using these shadows but when I do, I'm definitely using it to store little pieces of jewelry. The box is just too darn cute! I've used all of the shadows and I find that I can not only put together a neutral, daytime look but a fun, dramatic smokey eye as well. As far as pigmentation, all of the shadows are very well pigmented, silky, and easy to blend. The texture is just the right consistency. Besides Midnight Rodeo, I don't find any of the shadows too shimmery but that's just my personal opinion. I find myself reaching for deeper, M.I.A., omen, vanilla, flow, and chase the most. Junkshow is the one color I haven't used much since it's such a vibrant, hot pink color but lately I've been able to incorporate it into an everyday look by simply using a light hand. It's actually a subtle nice pop of color if you use it in the right way. Deep end, evidence, ace, and half truth are fabulously pigmented colors great and in my opinion, some of my favorites. Last but not least, we have Blackout, one of Urban Decay's most raved about shadows which is just a matte black. Personally I would have liked it to be be a darker, truer black but it can be buildable. I received this as a gift but if I didn't I would have gone out to buy it myself anyway. I was debating between this, the Naked palette, and the Naked 2 but I'm so glad I went with this because it's so versatile. 15 high quality Urban Decay shadows for $55 is a steal in my book.
Eye Shadow -Estee Lauder - Color Intensity Eyeshadow in Brown Sugar
xosandy 3/4/2012 7:34:00 PM
It's a pretty brown color but nothing that you can't find in other palettes. I do, however, like that the color is pigmented but unfortunately staying power isn't that great. This is nice for a natural, everyday eye or contour color.
I've used Revlon Colorstay in True Beige and Natural Tan, and this line is fabulous! This was the first real heavy-duty foundation I've used and it's a miracle worker. It does a great job with covering my acne scars and the matte finish is beautiful. The only caveat with this foundation is that I wish it came with a pump! I'm on my second bottle already and it's lasted me for quite awhile. You get 1 fl. oz. which is more than enough product. I don't wear foundation on an everyday basis but this is perfect for dates, parties, and nights out. My skin looks flawless and I've gotten several compliments on how perfect my skin looks when I use this which is pretty surprising because I'm quite acne-prone. I'm just thankful it doesn't give break me out as my skin is quite sensitive. t does have an SPF of 6 but it doesn't give me a white cast in pictures so I don't mind it.
Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
xosandy 3/4/2012 7:16:00 PM
Too faced shadow insurance is okay. It isn't a miracle worker and I wouldn't count on it if you want your eye makeup to last you all day. It does the job for a few hours but begins to crease after the third or fourth hour. If conditions are hot and humid, it will crease within the second hour (*cough* Vegas). I also dislike the cheap packaging. After using 1/3 of the product, the other end of it popped open and spilled in my makeup bag so I had to depot the rest of the contents into a sealed makeup container.
Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy Silky Eye Shadow - Luscious
xosandy 3/4/2012 5:26:00 PM
When I swatch the shadow it's a beautiful, pigmented purple. However, it just doesn't show up the same way on my eyes and it's incredibly difficult to work with. For a single shadow, it's quite pricy and not worth what I could get at the local drugstore. I'm really disappointed because the color and packaging is gorgeous but it just doesn't have that same effect on my eyes. Lasting power isn't that great with or without a primer. I wanted to love this but unfortunately this product failed.
