Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask

It's no mystery. Aspirin is Salycylic Acid -- the same stuff they put in most products for oily skin, acne, exfoliating, etc. Read the back of some of your products' labels. If it says Salycylic Acid, that's aspirin :-)

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Antibacterial Hand Soap Crisp Citrus Herb
rated 5 of 5

This has one of the best scents ever from B&BW. I'm surprised it's only available in hand wash. I think they may be discontinuing even that, unfortunately, because I've had difficulty finding it lately.

Lip Treatments -Bath and Body Works - Savannah Bee Company Beeswax Lip Tint in Blackberry
rated 2 of 5

I like the color of this tint, and the texture is just okay, not bad but not great. But the smell is so overpoweringly sweet it was making me sick sitting there right under my nose, so I gave up trying to wear it. I tried a different one, the Tupelo Honey, and had the same problem.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Iced tea twist three in one [DISCONTINUED]

Black tea is one of my favorite smells in the whole world, and I'm always frustrated when things that claim to smell like tea don't smell anything like tea at all. THIS, however, really does smell like tea with lemon! I was stunned! It's not something I'd want every day -- the lotion has a pretty long-lasting scent -- but occasionally in the summer, it's great.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - White Cherry Blossom
rated 4 of 5

I love this scent in the shower gel and the body lotion. It is light and clean and fresh. I normally don't like florals, but this one is not overpowering. It is less sweet than the Japanese Cherry Blossom. HOWEVER, when I tested the body splash and the edt, I thought it smelled kind of like beer. Yuck.

Cleansers -Avon - Pore-Fection Cleanser [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5

I might call this an HG too! I've tried EVERYTHING to try and help my super-oily face, and nothing seemed to work until this. It works so well I was actually shocked when I realized that several hours into the day, my face was not an oil slick. I'm another one who can usually blot with a paper towel after a few hours. It doesn't leave any residue so I don't have to wash with something else afterward, and it doesn't make my skin dry and tight. Amazing! It's in a tube, which is easy to use and you get a lot for the money. My only wish is that it were a scrub, but I can live with it as is! I use it with the Pore-Fection moisturizer, so I don't know how well it controls oil by itself.

Other -LUSH - Customer Service
rated 1 of 5

I bought some I Should Coco soap while visiting Montreal. It smelled lovely in the store, but when I got home a couple of days later, it smelled like nothing, and the next day it smelled like mud and salt. I e-mailed them to tell what happened and they wrote back to say that either *I* did something wrong or the whole batch at the store was off and I could return the soap to the Montreal store if I had a receipt. I replied that as I said, I was only visiting and the closest LUSH store to me is 10 hours away, and that the soap had smelled fine in the shop and I'd been careful to keep it cool and dry. They never apologized, never offered to make it right, and never responded to my second e-mail. They sure charge a lot of money for such awful service.

Lipstick -Avon - Beyond Color
rated 4 of 5
xmelinda 8/20/2004 11:04:00 AM

I received one of these lipsticks in a swap, in "Sienna", and I was surprised at the plumping effect. I already have fairly full lips, and I noticed no change at all with LipVenom, but I can see the plumping with this lipstick, even though the "irritation" feeling is much less than with the LipVenom. I bought "Twig" after seeing reviews here, and I took off a lippie because the color was not at all what I expected from the picture, but it's still a nice neutral color, and I think will look good with other "neutral" makeup. I would buy this again, but only at the sale price. Packaging is cheapy very-thin plastic, not even as nice as, say, Revlon or Maybelline. If this lipstick did not deliver on the plumping, I would give it only a 3.

Scrubs -Burt's Bees - Citrus Facial Scrub
rated 2 of 5
xmelinda 4/5/2004 12:16:00 PM

I love the smell of this product, and I actually like the glass jar, but it's a pain to have to mix it with water before using it, and even after it's mixed up it's hard to spread around my face. The worst part, though, is that it leaves my face feeling like I smeared Crisco over it. So I have to use another cleanser to wash the residue off and this tends to overdry my skin. I have been using it once a week, when I don't have to go out, because I hate to waste the money I spent, but my face feels greasier-than-usual all day, even if I used another soap after the scrub. For what it's worth, I have combination skin on my face, very oily in parts and flaky dry in parts.

Fragrances -Clinique - Happy
rated 4 of 5
xmelinda 2/10/2004 1:41:00 PM

Funny that someone said if smelling like a bag of oranges is your thing... hey, that is my thing! I frequently wear Body Shop Satsuma perfume oil. My husband and I are both very picky about fragrances, and Happy is one of the few we both like. I don't care if it's trendy. It doesn't last very long, but husband bought me the "Happier" perfume concentrate, which is better. Not sure if they still make that, though. I'll probably stick with the Body Shop, though, because Happy is Pricey!

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Beyond Paradise
rated 2 of 5
xmelinda 2/10/2004 1:35:00 PM

I thought this smelled lovely on the piece of cardboard at the shop, so I got a sample vial. When I tried to wear it, though, within a half-hour of putting it on it was starting to make me sick, headachy, nauseated. Just something about it. Interestingly, my mother said that all Estee Lauder perfumes have done that to her for 40 years! Weird.

Fragrances -Nina Ricci - L'Air du Temps
rated 5 of 5

It's funny to see how many people say this is their mother's scent -- whenever I smell it, it smells like my mother getting ready to go out for a special occasion. It's too flowery for me, but I've always loved it on my mom. Maybe it's just the association with happy childhood memories? The packaging my mother had 30 years ago, when she first got it as a gift from my dad, was gorgeous and it fascinated me as a kid -- a beautiful yellow-beige velvet box, with a top that hinged back and the front panel fell forward and inside was a tiny bottle. Beautiful.

Lotions/ Creams -A Zaftig Woman - Body Pudding - Chai Tea
rated 2 of 5
xmelinda 12/16/2003 1:06:00 PM

I got a sample of this product and it made a hot red itchy welt on my inner arm. I only say this to caution anyone to try the sample before buying this product, because I had NO PROBLEM with the other 7 scents I sampled, only this one, which makes me think there is something in the scent oil, rather than in the cream base. I do not usually have sensitive skin, and some others may use this with no issues. In general, the scent is sweet-spicy, like a "pumpkin pie" candle or something, nice but not super-fabulous.
