Bronzers -Urban Decay - Baked Bronzer

I got this as a birthday present in the matt toasted shade. I have lightly tanned skin and the shade is absolutely perfect - Not too orange or brown and its not very shimmery either. Its very pigmented so a light hand is needed but it will no doubt last a very long time!

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
rated 3 of 5
xkirstagx 12/25/2008 10:44:00 AM

YSL Effect Fauz Cils comes in a beautiful gold tube that looks classy, elegant, and expensive (which is good given the cost!). The product itself has a lovely floral fragrance - this isn't a necessity for me but just makes putting on my makeup that little bit more fun :). It's a glossy black and really does give a false lash effect. I only wear this on special occasions or nights out and always receive plenty of compliments on my lashes. However, in order to get the desired effect you have to apply about 10 coats of the stuff which is very time consuming. The product does dry out after a while as well and by the end of the night i end up with smudges under my eyes even though I never use it on the bottom lashes. I would only repurchase this if it came in waterproof and/or if it was half the price it is now!

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - Moon Beam
rated 4 of 5
xkirstagx 12/25/2008 10:29:00 AM

After lusting for moon beam for months I finally bought it (from House of Frasers) on a whim and have never looked back. The colour of moon beam is a light golden peach with light pinky gold shimmery particles that catch the light, which is perfect for my skin which has a light tan with warm undertones. Nobody would know you had it on unless you were to tell them as it just blends seamlessly giving you a radiant, dewy, glow. The packaging is similar to nail polish, you use the brush to dot it on and blend with your fingers. I tend to use it on along the collar bone, cheekbones and under the eyebrows. During the day moon beam is quite subtle but in photographs its alot more noticeable giving the illusion of perfect cheekbones so is perfect for nights out and parties as well :) The price isn't too unreasonable I think I paid about £15 but because you only need a small amount it lasts you a long, long time.

Eyes -MAC - Paint Pot in Rubenesque
rated 4 of 5
xkirstagx 12/23/2008 8:18:00 PM

Like most people, I use this as a base and an eyeshadow. The colour is gorgeous - a light golden peachy pink and looks beautiful on its own as a shadow. I wear this during the day on its own. However by the end of the day it's creased, which is hardly surprising as I have quite oily eyelids. It is EXCELLENT used as a base - it just seems to add a completely new dimension to whatever eyeshadow I use, an extra sheen and makes the colour just pop! I use UD eyeshadow and when worn over Rubenesque the eyeshadows last all day with no creasing or smudging whatsoever. I would repurchase this again, you get alot of product for the price, the colour is amazing and a little goes along way.

Tinted Moisturizer -Bobbi Brown - Tinted Moisturizer [REFORMULATED]
rated 5 of 5
xkirstagx 12/23/2008 8:10:00 PM

*Pros* Perfect shade Natural finish Easy to blend Nice fragrance Doesn't make me break out in spots *Cons* Very Pricey! Shiny skin after a few hours *My Opinion* I believe that the makeup worth splashing out on is mascara, tinted moisturiser/foundation, concealer and blusher so even though it costs £24 I still purchased it.I have it in the Light shade and find it blends in very well with my skin tone and makes my skin look very even with a dewy glow. However by the end of the day (or night!) my skin looks very oily but it's nothing a bit of powder can't fix. My skin normally breaks out in spots when I wear foundation or TM but i've had nothing so far. Definitely worth it in my opinion.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Double Extend Beauty Tubes
rated 4 of 5
xkirstagx 7/15/2008 6:08:00 AM

I have been using this mascara for approximately 2 months now and i'm very impressed with the results. It really does what it says and dramatically lengthens your eyelashes. When i wear this on a night out i'm always asked if my lashes are fake...but their real!! It doesn't smudge, flake or rub off either. However, for a drugstore brand it's very expensive (£10) and after about 1 month the smell has changed slightly. Also, when the mascara is on my lashes feel very brittle and stiff. It says on the packaging that it can be easily removed with water - but be very careful when slapping on your facetowel and just rubbing away at your eyes. You may lose a few lashes in the process! By far the easiest way to take this off is in the shower (but it's not very convenient). Another suitable way is to soak a face cloth or whatever in warm water and place it on your eye for about 1 minut before gently wiping down. DO NOT PULL OFF THE MASCARA TUBES! The packaging is very bulky as well but i dont mind as i dont carry it around with me all day. It's also very time consuming to apply if you want a true false lash effect. I tend to apply about 4 or 5 coats of the white base then 3 or 4 coats of the black. THEN apply the white on the tips of my eyelashes then coating them again in the black. So if you're in a hurry, i wouldn't recommend this.

Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer
rated 3 of 5
xkirstagx 5/2/2008 5:40:00 PM

I bought this in NC35 intending to use it to cover my dark circles. It was very drying and difficult to blend on such delicate skin and quite frankly a little orange for my liking. However it is much better used to cover up blemishes on your face. It was easy to layer on and blend, while the product didnt dry out my spots.

Eyeliner -Bourjois - Liner Stylo & Taille mine
rated 3 of 5
xkirstagx 5/2/2008 5:35:00 PM

I bought this at Boots and while the colour is very pretty (similar to Clinique's Black Honey) the product was difficult to apply on my upper eyelid and dragged my skin. The twist up feature is handy if, like me, you can't be bothered to sharpen your pencils but otherwise, its just a standard eyeliner.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
rated 1 of 5
xkirstagx 5/2/2008 5:32:00 PM

Pros Adds volume and slight length to lashes, easy to remove, a true black Cons Doesnt hold a curl, flakes, brush isn't anything special and easily replicated by cheaper brands My opinion I recieved this as a GWP and although the product does add volume, length etc, I just couldnt handle looking in the mirror during the day and seeing flake after flake after flake roll down my eyelids. It's awful and not worth the money.

Mascara -Bourjois - Yes to Volume No to Clumps
rated 4 of 5
xkirstagx 4/2/2008 8:43:00 AM

Pros

The packaging is very funky. The colour is actually a true black and not a dark grey or purple. 3 coats of this on my lashes gives them a real life which plenty of volume and no clumps - not to dramatic, its perfect for daytime. I bought this at Boots for £7 which for me is a very reasonable price, seeing as it's lasted me for so long.

Cons
The brush, while great at defining your lashes, doesn't work to well on the inner tiny lashes making it a bit tricky to use. After a while the product starts to thicken, but I think all mascaras tend to do that. For me its not very easy to remove and unfortunately it didn't hold a curl!

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Illuminating Whip Moisturizer SPF 20
rated 3 of 5
xkirstagx 4/2/2008 8:32:00 AM

Pros

I paid about £6.50 which is a very reasonable price. The SPF is higher than the minum requirement of SPF15 which is great! The texture is very light and the product easily absorbed into my skin leaving my face feeling moisturised but not greast or oily.

Cons
If you have very dry skin, this is not the product for you. it just wouldn't moisturise enough. The "glow" comes from the 3million shimmering particles that make your face shine brighter than a beacon of light. It's far too glittery, if you want to have a fresh glow you really have to cake yourself with powder to tone down the shine. It's heavily perfumed, definitely not for sensitive skin. I would rebuy this if it wasnt for the damn glitter!

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Liner - Black
rated 5 of 5
xkirstagx 4/1/2008 2:11:00 PM

Perfect, perfect perfect! The liner goes on very smoothly, the colour is very rich, dark black. I mean BLACK not a murky grey like some other liners. The brush is great - it can produce a thick feline flick for evening, or a natural subtle line just above the lashes for daytime and is very easy to use - no wobbles or anything! It lasts all day, doesn't flake and after one afternoon in tears I was surprised to see it was still there! It also washes off very easily so what more could you need? I bought this for £2 from New Look (you can also buy it at Boots for £2.49)and I can't believe how great the quality is for the price! Definitely will repurchase!

Lipstick -Clinique - Butter Shine Lipstick - Poppy Love
rated 4 of 5
xkirstagx 4/1/2008 1:58:00 PM

The packaging it beautiful. Silver, sleek, sophisticated, durable - it makes me feel very proud to take this out my makeup bag in public! The colour is a peachy pinkish red, not very orange at all, its absoloutlely gorgeous! I have quite dark rosy lips and this provides sheer colour that gives my lips a golden peach shine. Very glossy but not glittery it makes my lips look utterly kissable and very juicy! The staying power could be improved, but I took one lippy off because what bothers me is how quickly it gets used up. I've had this for 3 weeks and I'm already halfway through it. For reference I have a light tan with yellow undertones and I wear this with BobbiBrown Shimmerbrick in Brownie and Clinique Brush on Cream Liner in Black Honey for a natural daytime look.

Eyeliner -Clinique - Brush-On Cream Liner in Black Honey
rated 5 of 5
xkirstagx 4/1/2008 1:47:00 PM

Pros

Beautiful colour Excellent staying power Easy to remove Comes with a handy lil brush A little goes a long way.

Cons
Costly Slightly trickier to use My Opinion I bought this for £12 from John Lewis a while ago after a recommendation from the sales assistant and it is one of the best things I've ever bought. The colour is a beautiful dark brown with a slight shimmer and can be worn during the day or at night so its very versatile. The staying power is EXCELLENT. I have slightly oily eyelids and this does not budge or smudge in anyway even after dancing the night away in a hot nightclub :) Despite this, its also very easy to remove, a quick wipe and you're done. I don't mind the little brush it comes with - i've had no problems using it for either a fine or thick line. You really need only a tiny amount so I have a feeling this will last a long long time so even though it's slightly pricy I will definitely repurchase!

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pink Raspberry Pot Rouge ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
xkirstagx 4/1/2008 1:42:00 PM

Pink Raspberry is what I would describe, a bright warm pink. Like I said before, it looks very bright but when worn it looks like a natural flush of colour on my cheeks, like I've been exercising. It's perfect for the no-makeup makeup look =) The colour can be found in ranges of less expensive brands but with this you get what you pay for. The quality is great - long lasting, easy to blend, durable packaging. Worn on the lips it looks like MLBB but it can be a drying so please please keep your lips well moisturised before using this! Otherwise this is perfect!
