BB Cream -Smashbox - Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35

I received a sample of this in a perk from Sephora. I really liked the sample and how it looked on my skin. It stayed on well, hid pores and did not oxidize. I was convinced and purchased a full size and now I don't like it at all. I knew something was up when my neighbour asked me if I had been away because I looked tan. I bought the light/medium, which looked great in the store but now seems too brown or orange on my face. I'll be returning this.

Eye Primer -LORAC - Behind the Scenes Eye Primer
rated 5 of 5
xine_07 9/14/2012 10:23:00 AM

With eye primers for me I find that when I use one for a long time it stops performing. I was in the market to try something new and chose this based on MUA reviews. For the record I have very oily eyelids that suck up eye makeup within an hour or two of application, so primer is a must for me. I am really enjoying this primer! My shadows are lasting beyond an 8-hour work day with minimal creasing or loss of colour. It has caused no irritation or spots (I am a contact leas wearer). Very impressed!

Liquid -BeneFit Cosmetics - "Hello Flawless!" Oxygen Wow
rated 3 of 5
xine_07 9/14/2012 10:19:00 AM

I purchased the "How To Look Your Best At Everything" kit in medium so that I could try this foundation as well as some of the other product. I'm hit and miss with this. Some days I really like it, others not so much. Sometimes it lets oil though quickly, sometimes not. It is a nice light formula that feels comfortable on the skin. I find it works best with the Porefessional primer applied first. It does not "Wow" me so I won't be buying again.

Deodorants -Lavanila - The Healthy Deodorant
rated 1 of 5
xine_07 7/30/2012 2:27:00 PM

I really wanted to like this. I purchased the Vanilla Coconut scent at Sephora. The cashier advised me that when first using the product I would think it doesn't work. She said to use it for a few weeks to allow my body time to expel the residue of chemical deodorants. It's been 3 weeks and I find I need to apply it a few times a day. I work in a cool office environment and by early afternoon I can smell myself. I'll be going back to non-natural deodorant.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - Makeup Geek- Eyeshadow (All)
rated 5 of 5
xine_07 6/8/2012 12:38:00 PM

First I want to say that I have oily eyelids. I double prime them before applying any shadow with UDPP Eden and MAC Painterly Paint Pot. If I don't do this any shadow regardless of price will be absorbed by the oil my lids produce and the colour will fade rapidly. Given this issue I am very pleasantly surprised by the MakeupGeek Shadows. I purchased the starter kit as well as 5 other colours and have been using them for a month now. On my lids these shadows last longer and stay true to colour better than any brand I've used, including MAC. At the end of the work day the colour has faded only a little and I am extremely impressed by this. The price is fabulous, even when adding shipping to Canada.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Mia2
rated 5 of 5
xine_07 6/8/2012 12:24:00 PM

I absolutely love my Mia2! It is worth every penny. I use it with the normal brush head once daily in the evening. My routine is to use a cleansing cloth to remove eye makeup, wet the brush head and my face, dab some cleanser on the brush head and follow the prompts to clean my face. After rinsing my skin feels soft and clean. Other products absorb quickly. My skin tone is more even and when I get a break out it does not last for long. I chose the Mia2 for the timer, two speeds and travel case.

Primer/ Corrector -MAC - Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50
rated 5 of 5
xine_07 6/8/2012 12:11:00 PM

I was hesitant to try this as high facial SPF usually cause me to break out terribly. The MAC SA assured me it could be returned so I chose to give it a try. I am certainly glad I did! The consistency of this primer is more like a lotion rather than a gel. It is white but disappears when applied with my fingers. It does not irritate, cause me to break out and keeps my foundation in place all day. I am very happy this is working for me.It can separate so be sure to shake it before using. The only negative is that I find the tube hard to squeeze, and sometimes get a little too much which is wasteful.

Eyeliner -Revlon - ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen
rated 1 of 5
xine_07 5/2/2012 10:37:00 AM

I don't like this at all. For a Colorstay product the colour does not stay. I bought it in black. I find it is very pigmented and does not dry out if you store it standing up with the cap pointed down. It's easy to apply. The reason I will not purchase this again is that I have oily eye lids and after about an hour worth of wear I have an eyeliner line on my upper lid. I wanted to try a liquid liner but with my oily lids I will go back to my usual routine of dark shadow, flat brush and Lise Watier Metamorfix.

Liquid -GOSH - X-ceptional wear liquid foundation
rated 5 of 5
xine_07 8/29/2011 11:32:00 AM

I purchased this foundation in Golden to get me though the summer when I have a little colour and my faves are too light. I wanted something long wearing to use only on days when I want my makeup to last longer than the work day. I really like this product, the coverage and it's staying power. I apply it with a damp Beauty Blender sponge. First off I like the inverted tube packaging. Perfect for dispensing just the right amount. The texture is creamy, but I do not find it heavy on my skin and it blends really well with the sponge. It gives me a natural finish and I can build it up if I need to. For me this product has great staying power. I have an oily t-zone and I find after many hours I get a little oily break through on my forehead, but the rest of my face looks great. Example: I wore this on a very humid day when I was attending an outdoor concert. I applied it at 2 pm and was outside from 4pm until past midnight. When I checked my makeup at the end of the night it still looked good with just a little shine on my forehead. This is a great long wearing foundation.

Crème -Cover Girl - Simply Ageless
rated 5 of 5
xine_07 3/30/2011 10:47:00 AM

I really like this foundation, more than I thought I would. I purchased this in January to help my combination skin that went more dry in the Canadian winter. After reading most of the reviews I picked this up in shade Creamy Natural 220. At the same time I also bought 2 Quo thick oval makeup sponges to use for application. I agree that the sponge that comes with it is useless and haven't touched it. To apply, I gently swirl my sponge in the product, and then with a light hand dab it on my face in short downward strokes, as if I was using a foundation brush. Using little product and blending well seems to work the best for me. I really like how well is smooths over pores and does not emphasize them. After blending I set it with Marcelle loose powder. It wears well on me, about 10 hours with some oily breakthrough on my forehead. When I first started using it I could feel it on my skin, but once I started using less product I find it comfortable to wear. Once the weather warms up I don't believe it will work as well for me, but I would certainly buy it again in the cold months.

Moisturizers -Sephora - Instant Moisturizer
rated 3 of 5
xine_07 3/30/2011 10:36:00 AM

I purchased this in January as my combination skin became more dry in the Canadian winter and my usual moisturizer was not enough. After a few months of use it really has not done much for me, and I have since gone back to my previous lotion coupled with a moisture boosting serum. The texture of this cream is nice, like a gel-cream, smells pleasant and the amount of product for the price is a good value. I found it absorbed quickly and left my face soft, and did not cause breakouts. I don't like that it comes in a jar and would prefer a pump for sanitary reasons. Though it worked at first, even with exfoliating my dry patches were still dry.

Cleansers -Dermalogica - PreCleanse
rated 5 of 5
xine_07 2/18/2011 12:02:00 PM

I really love this product. Even if I was not using other Dermalogica products, I would still buy this. I really believe in the 2-step cleansing process and feel it's made a difference with my skin. I shake a few drops out onto my dry hands, and massage it into my dry face, concentrating the most on my T-zone. Then rinse and follow up with cleanser. I know it's removing makeup because I see foundation tinted water in my sink. I find it smells a little like oranges. I always use it when I wear foundation. If I've not put makeup on, then I will skip it.

Scrubs -Cake Beauty - Milk Made Smoothing Hand & Cuticle Buffer
rated 5 of 5
xine_07 2/18/2011 11:56:00 AM

Oh how I adore this lovely scrub. I work in a dry environment, plus we are on septic water. That means my hand are dry, and my cuticles even drier. I had my eye on this for quite some time and so glad I bought it. I stir it with the spoon, take a scoop but let most of it fall back into the jar. You really don't need much to get the benefit of the oils and scrub. I do my whole hand, but concentrate rubbing into into the cuticle and nail bed of each finger. It is expensive, but worth it to me to keep hang nails and peeling cuticles at bay.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express One by One
rated 5 of 5
xine_07 2/18/2011 8:34:00 AM

I wanted to try this after seeing it on a few blogs. It works very well for me and is not bulky or clumpy on my lashes. I find it glides on easily and separates without my having to wiggle the brush very much at all. The tube does a very good job coating the brush with just enough product. I put one for price as I honestly did not pay attention. I tossed it my basket with other items and have no idea how much I paid. I would buy again though!

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
rated 5 of 5
xine_07 2/15/2011 10:41:00 AM

I have the double ended Zero/Whiskey from the Naked Pallet. I recently started using pencil liners again. In the past I have found that with my oily lids around mid-day I'd have that dark eyeliner smudge on my lid. I have to hard-core prime with a primer and paint pot to make my shadows last, and with other brands would still find I was getting the eyeliner streak. Not with the 24-7 pencils. I love how smooth they glide on and don't pull at my lid. They also last and last on me without transfer. Once my double ended has been used I will definitely purchase the singles.
