Hair Color -Clairol - Nice n' Easy Foam
xfallenx 5/6/2012 12:28:00 PM
I am surprised at the number of negative reviews for this product which leaves me to believe that people must be doing something wrong. I can see a huge amount of people complaining that the foam doesn't...Well foam. It does foam! The trick is to only shake the solution 3 times and then to leave it sit for 30 seconds to a minute. It will then foam and not be a watery mess like some people describe. I find this dye a lot less messy because of the foaming action. I also find it a lot easier to distribute through the hair as you are using a shampooing technique. Ok, the colour was a little darker than expected, but it's not black like others describe most of the colours turning. My hair also feels soft and looks glossy. No straw like hair for me. The one downside to this product that I've found is the smell. Yes, it's overpowering and yes, it smells like you've dipped your head in a keg of ale. It doesn't last though and soon fades after you've washed the dye out. I also experienced no sensitivity from the product. I'm curious as to whether any of the reviewers who did, actually did a patch test before slapping this all over their scalp. ALWAYS do a patch test 48 hours before ladies so you can avoid situations like this! Overall I wouldn't say this product is half as bad as some people claim. If you use it correctly and take time to choose your colour I can see very little going wrong. Don't let the bad reviews deter you ladies. What might not work for one person may work wonderfully for another!

Blush -The Body Shop - Cheek Colour - 04 Golden Pink
xfallenx 4/15/2010 1:32:00 PM
The Body Shops Golden Pink is a beautiful peachy pink colour with subtle flecks of gold shimmer. I have heard numerous ladies say this is a definite dupe for NARS Orgasm, but since I have never tried the NARS blush I couldn't tell you for certain. This is my favourite blush colour for the summer months as combined with my bronzer gives my skin a beautiful summery glow with a hint of shimmer. The shimmer is very fine so it doesn't give you that 'I've just been hit by a glitter ball' look but instead a healthy glowing look. This blush costs around £8.50 in the UK which I don't feel is a bad price at all as the quality is good and this blush last's a long time. I have only just hit the pan on mine. The packaging is that of a standard blush. A circular pot with a flip lid. The lid is silver with a clear window which allows you to see the blush colour easily. The only downside I have found to this packaging is that the silver does have a tendency to chip and peel off. I can live with this though. Would I buy this blush again? Most definitely. It's an extremely flattering colour which I think would work on most skin tones. I'm pale with dark hair, but I definitely think this would work on darker olive toned skin too x

Polishes -Barry M - Barry M.
xfallenx 4/15/2010 12:10:00 PM
I love, love, love Barry M nail polishes! I have so, so many colours ranging from pastel to bright to glittery. I use both a basecoat & a topcoat & haven't had any issues with the polish chipping like some ladies have mentioned. I can get a good 10 days + wear with these polishes. As with most glittery polishes, the Barry M polish can be slightly harder to remove than other polishes in this range, but I will make do with this because the polishes look so pretty on. My favourite is 297~Blue glitter. I always get compliments when I wear this shade! You cannot beat the price of these polishes. They cost around £3.00 in the UK which for such good quality is fabulous. I would rather buy 3 of these polishes than one OPI where I feel the quality is very, very similar. I will continue to buy these nail polishes over and over again. The price and quality is amazing! x

Eye Shadow -MAC - Embark eye shadow
xfallenx 3/29/2010 1:41:00 PM
MAC's Embark is one of the very first MAC eyeshadow's I bought. It is a gorgeous matte dark brown with a hint of red. It's subtle enough to be worn during the day, but can be built up for a darker, more dramatic evening look. I absolutely love using this on the outer V for a smoky eye or for a crease colour on a cut-crease look. The only downside to this shadow is that it is a matte eyeshadow making it slightly harder to blend than a shimmery eyeshadow. So if you are in a rush, this may not be the best colour to use as it does take time to blend. MAC eyeshadow's cost around £12 in the UK which some people may consider expensive for an eyeshadow, but to me it is definitely money well spent. You cannot beat MAC eyeshadow's for quality! The packaging is a small round, black pan with a clear lid and the MAC logo. The pans are rather small, but despite that these eyeshadow's will last you a considerable amount of time. Most definitely an eyeshadow I will buy again!

Eyeliner -Clinique - Cream Shaper for Eyes - Chocolate Lustre
xfallenx 3/28/2010 12:24:00 PM
This is most definitely my HG pencil eyeliner. This eyeliner is a beautiful dark brown colour with a very subtle hint of shimmer. Perfect for daytime or evening. It has a creamy consistency which glides across the skin without tugging at the delicate eye area. Because of it's consistency it means it is easy to smudge to create a subtle effect, but also works un-smudged to give a more dramatic effect. This eyeliner costs around £13.00 in the UK, which is definitely expensive for an eyeliner. The price is definitely the only con to this product. The packaging is a standard pencil. It is the same colour as the eyeliner itself with a silver top and the silver Clinique logo on. There is something different about the material the pencil is made out of though as it is an absolute dream to sharpen. Would I buy this product again? Absolutely. This is my HG pencil eyeliner.

Blush -Clinique - fresh bloom allover colour
xfallenx 3/26/2010 3:25:00 PM
I have a sample size of this blush in Almond Blossom was given to me as a gift with purchase. This blush looks absolutely beautiful in the pan. It has an adorable floral design to it with a golden and pinky bronze colour. Unfortunately it is one of those products that look's a lot better in the pan than it does on. When this product is first applied it gives my cheeks a gorgeous pinky bronze glow with a hint of gold. Unfortunately that colour doesn't last and after a few hours turns a very unattractive muddy colour on me. I can't comment too much on the price as this was a gift with purchase, but after taking a look at the Clinique website this blush costs £23.50. I would most definitely NOT pay that much for this item especially as there are products half the price of this that do a much more effective job. Again, I can't comment too much on the packaging as mine is a sample and not a full priced product. After looking at the Clinique website though I can see it has similar packaging to there standard blushes which I absolutely love. So that's one plus if anything to this product. Would I buy again? Thank goodness this was a sample. I will NOT be purchasing the full size of this.

Eyeliner -Clinique - Brush-on cream liner in TRUE BLACK
xfallenx 3/8/2010 2:51:00 PM
Brush-on Cream Liner is a gel eyeliner. The colour is absolutely true to it's name. It is black unlike MAC's Blacktrack Fluid Line which I find isn't as pigmented. I predominantly use this eyeliner on my waterline. It doesn't cause any irritation to my eyes despite being a contact lens wearer. It also stays put and I don't find myself reapplying every hour like I do with a pencil liner. This eyeliner costs around £11 in the UK which I believe is very similarly priced to MAC. The packaging is a small round pot with the Clinique logo on and silver lid. Perfect for a gel eyeliner. Would I purchase this eyeliner again? Most definitely!

Lipstick -MAC - Hue
xfallenx 3/8/2010 2:40:00 PM
MAC Hue lipstick is my HG nude lipstick! It's a creamy, matte, pale pink shade. Definitely suitable for those with paler skin tones such as myself. It is suitable for a day look and an evening look and look's especially good with an extremely smokey eye. The lipstick costs £12.50 in the UK, which has gone up since I purchased my last Hue lipstick which if I remember rightly cost around £10 then. It is fairly expensive for a lipstick but as with most MAC cosmetics I believe you get what you pay for. High quality cosmetics. The packaging is standard of that of a lipstick. It is a simple black, bullet shaped tube with the MAC logo on. Would I purchase this lipstick again? Yes! Most definitely. It is my HG nude.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
xfallenx 2/17/2010 3:23:00 PM
So I there was me thinking L'Oreal Volume Shocking was my HG mascara. Now I'm thinking it might actually be Colossal! Colossal claims to be a volumising mascara and it most definitely lives up to it's claims .I curl my lashes as usual and after 3 coats of this mascara my lashes look longer and thicker with zero clumps. Colossal almost gives me a false lash effect. The packaging is a bullet shaped tube. The tube however is bright yellow with purple writing which to me screams cheap, which is disappointing for such an amazing mascara. The price is around £7-£9 GBP which I feel is very reasonable for such a high performing mascara. Will I repurchase? Yes!!! I will definitely repurchase over and over again.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin
xfallenx 1/15/2010 1:02:00 PM
After reading all the rave reviews on Makeup Alley and numerous forums I decided to try Colorstay for myself. Sadly my review isn't raving about it! Firstly, the colour selection available is good. I imagine there is colour to match just about everyone. I also like the fact it comes in two formulations. One for Combination/Oily skin and one for Normal/Dry skin. My skin is combination so I opted for the Combination/Oily skin formula. The formula is incredibly thick and also has a tendancy to dry very quickly. This means dabbing it on your face and then blending is out of the question. I had to do each part of my face individually. I also find that this foundation can have a mask like appearance. Especially if too much is applied. I also found that in areas where too much had been applied the foundation began to have a grey/green hue to it. On the plus side Colorstay stayed true to it's name. It does stay on your face all day! It is however difficult to remove and took more than one cleanse to remove all traces. The packaging is a standard glass bottle with a screw top lid. The opening to the bottle is relatively large which means there is a tendancy to waste too much product. It comes out of the bottle fast! The price is around £10-£12 here in the UK which is fairly reasonable. Would I buy the product again? Probably not. I think I will stick to my Prestige Skin Loving Minerals foundation for now.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
xfallenx 1/7/2010 1:03:00 PM
I really wanted to love this mascara especially as I adore L'Oreals Volume Shocking. Sadly this mascara was not to my liking. As it claims on the tube it does provide volume to my lashes. As for the no clumping claim...well that's another story. I love the dramatic, thick, long eyelashes look. This just provided me with a clumpy looking set of spider lashes despite using a comb afterwards. I imagine if I actually spent more time combing the overall effect MAY be better, but really, who has time to spend god knows how long combing their lashes? As for the price I feel it's fairly reasonable for a drugstore mascara. It costs around £7-£10 here in the UK. In all honesty though there are much better mascaras available for exactly the same price. Packaging..well it's a standard mascara style packaging. So no issues there. Would I buy the product again? Definitely not. I will remain buying L'Oreals Volume Shocking or Maybellines Lash Stilletto.

Lipstick -Prestige - Lipstick (new packaging/formula)
xfallenx 10/22/2009 8:39:00 AM
I have this lipstick in 'Petulant Rose' which is an absolutely gorgeous matte pink. I had been searching for the perfect pink (not too bright, not too light) for a long, long time until I found this. The colour swatch on the bottom of the tube is a very accurate colour swatch and most definitely matches the colour in the tube, unlike most colour swatches on lipstick tubes. The lipstick is creamy in texture and consistency and glides onto the lips with ease. The lipstick is also fairly moisturising so it doesn't show every single crack on my lips. The colour is pigmented and appears exactly as it does in the tube on my lips. The colour is very matte, so I occasionally apply a gloss over it for a more dramatic look. The packaging is a matte silver tube with a colour swatch on the bottom. Standard packaging for a lipstick. The lipstick costs roughly around £6-£7 in the UK, which I think is very reasonable for such a good quality lipstick. Will definitely repurchase again.

Eyeliner -Prestige - Liquid Eyeliner
xfallenx 10/22/2009 8:06:00 AM

This is most definitely my HG liquid eyeliner. The eyeliner is very pigmented. The black is a true black. Not a black that appears grey when you apply it like a lot of eyeliners tend to. It comes with a stiff 'felt tip' style tip which I much prefer over soft brushes. I find the stiff tip helps to achieve a more precise, defined line. It most definitely makes it easier to achieve the perfect cat eye/winged eyeliner. The eyeliner stays put all day (I do use a primer, so that may help with this) without any flaking like some reviewers have experienced. The packaging is fairly typical for a liquid eyeliner. It's easy to use and not bulky, so fits in my makeup bag perfectly. In the UK the eyeliner cost's roughly around the £7-£8 mark which is very reasonable for such a good eyeliner which lasts. Mine lasts a good few months with every day wear. I've not used any highend eyeliners which can even compare with this. Will always repurchase!

Toners -Clinique - Clarifying Lotion #2
xfallenx 7/2/2009 11:17:00 AM
Eeek. I don't think I have anything good to say about this product. I have combination skin that is prone to breakouts every now and again. The shop assistant insisted that the Liquid Facial Soap in Mild, Clarifying Lotion in No:2 and the Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel would help make my skin less oily and clear up any breakouts. Wrong. I love the Liquid Facial Soap and will continue to buy it. The Moisturising Gel and Clarifying Lotion I shall not be buying again. The main ingrediant listed in the Clarifying Lotion as Alcohol Denat which as we all know is extremely drying to the skin and will actually cause oily skin to produce more oil as you are stripping the skin of it's natural oils. It also contains Menthol which I imagine is the cause of the tingly/burning sensation you get upon application. Being naive though I continued to use it believing that tingly/burning sensation meant it was working. I soon discovered it was not working after my skin became irritated. I immediately stopped using it and after a while my skin calmed down. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone, especially those with sensitive and acne prone skin. Clarifying Lotion in No:1 or even Mild would possibly be better. I know for a fact No:1 does not cause the tingly/burning sensation. I did however like the packaging. The price is fairly reasonable for the amount you get and it will last quite a while. Will I purchase again? Most definitely not x

Blush -Clinique - Blushing Blush Powder Blush - Precious Posy
xfallenx 7/2/2009 10:48:00 AM
This is most definitely my HG blush. I have tried so, so many blushers on the market, but always, always go back to my Precious Posy. Precious Posy is a beautiful peachy colour with slight gold flecks in it. The blush is pigmented so you don't need to apply over and over again to get any colour. I have a medium skin tone and it's extremely flattering on me. The sales assistant that sold this to me originally was extremely dark skinned and this looked beautiful on her too, so I imagine this blush could work on most skin tones. The packaging is fairly standard for blushers. I do love the mirrored lid though. Come's in handy if you ever forget your mirror compact or need a mirror. As usual the brush provided isn't great, but to be fair is slightly better than most brushes provided. Price. It is expensive, but this blush will last you a long, long time so is well worth the money! x
