Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Hair Powder in Blondish
wurm 10/19/2011 7:04:00 PM
I had such great hopes for this product. I thought it might bring fullness into my fine, flyaway hair, in addition to giving me an extra day between washes. Not to be. I followed the directions carefully and even watched an online tutorial before using the product. I ended up with a sticky mess and my hair looked and felt "dirty." Application must be done very carefully to avoid overspray onto clothes, surfaces.
I just purchased my third bottle of Douce Amere from LuckyScent. I own and love other scents but this is the one to which I'm most true. This is the one that prompts men (and women) to say, "Oh, my God, that smells wonderful." On me, it's incredibly long-lasting. I have perfumes which remind me of one another, but I know of nothing else that smells quite like this one.
Although on the verge of being prohibibitively expensive, this product impresses me. Skin texture is improved, wrinkles are less pronounced, pores appear wee bit smaller. I also like how it enhances foundation applied atop it. It contains sunscreen with SPF 20 as well as magic bullet retinol, so that justifies the cost somewhat. (I am in my 8th week of using and will update later.) Update: I purchased this in April of 2010; it's now September and I just ordered a replacement. I have used it "efficiently," applying it once a day in the morning and not too thickly. Although I winced when I repurchased, I still think it's worth the money because it is long-lasting, especially when you consider that it contains SPF 20 and the retinol, with the added benefit of being a great makeup primer. Purchase those three products individually and you'd spend the $125 anyway. Are my pores invisible? No. Smaller, yes. Face is definitely smoother, particularly around my mouth and chin. Additional note: I use Paula's Choice Alpha and Beta Hydoxy creams, rotating them at night.
I am experiencing the fierce heat of Texas in July right now and Burt's Bees is coming through for me. I'm five days into the use of this product and I am pleased. (I actually tried it out first on a couple of days where I could stay in and not worry about...BODY ODOR.) I love the scent; although rather manly, it quickly dissipates. After the deodorant spray dries, I put on a light dusting of Burt's Bees Baby Bee Dusting Powder. The two products together assure an unscented AND dry underarm. I'm glad to find this product: the aluminum-Alzheimer's connection had left me a bit bummed.
Self Tanners -Paula's Choice - Almost the Real Thing-Self Tanning Gel

Paula's Choice has created another winner! I've tried a host of self-tanners, both pricey and not, with the same sorts of difficulties: orange tint; streaky, uneven coverage; and too little color resulting in the need for multiple layers to get the tint I wanted. The smell of all the products I've tried has been a real turn-off. Enter Paula's Choice Almost the Real Thing Self-Tanning Gel. There's no smell, it is tinted so that you can see where you are applying it, it's quickly absorbed, and, most importantly, the color is realistically lovely without streaky patterns or color concentrations over bony prominences such as ankles and knees. Follow the directions precisely and good luck!
Moisturizers -Alpha Hydrox - Enhanced Lotion - 10% AHA

I prefer this product to any other alpha hydroxy treatment I have used due to its effectiveness without irritation, particularly around the nose and mouth. (I alternate this nightly with Paula's Choice Beta Hydroxy 1% Lotion, without any hydroxy acid treatments in the morning.) My skin (combination, large pores) looks smoother and firmer and more luminous with this regime. I'm 47 so I've had lots of time to sample the treatments out there!
Fragrances -Giorgio Armani - Armani Privé - Ambre Soie

When I first sprayed it on my wrist, I was bitterly disappointed because I caught a big whiff of hippy sandalwood. Thankfully, the scent morphed into something reminiscent of licorice a few minutes later. I licked my arm but was displeased to find that the taste of the perfume did not match the smell. About an hour later, the scent had settled into something that smelled "spicy", but I couldn't put my finger on exactly what it was. It smelled good though, so I liberally sprayed it all over myself every ten minutes or so, like a teenage boy with a can of Axe Body Spray.
Treatments -Paula's Choice - Super Antioxidant Concentrate
wurm 12/22/2007 1:15:00 PM
I've held off reviewing this product until I had actually used it for several months. I was not expecting dramatic results to my 45 year-old-face such as the total "undoing" of all sun damage or wrinkles. However, I am pleased with results and I do believe it aids skin's own recovery resources. My skin looks smoother and more uniform in color. The price is unbeatable. I'll continue using the Super Antioxidant Concentrate as an investment in my skin's future.
Cleansers -Paula's Choice - Skin Balancing Oil-Reducing Cleanser
wurm 9/3/2007 9:36:00 PM
Wonderful, freshly scented cleanser. It removes eye makeup thoroughly and leaves skin soft. I have problem skin and have looked for a good cleanser for years. This reminds me of Elizabeth Arden's Milky Cleanser that I used back in college in the eighties. I love Paula's Choice products. Their samples are ample, too.
Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Lotion Exfoliant

Another product by Paula's Choice that does exactly what it promises. I love this beta hydroxy formulation--I am too sensitive to the alpha hydroxy products to use them. A dab on a pimple eradicates it overnight.
Styling Products -Back to Basics - Sunflower Hair Spray

This spray will "stop a bird in flight." I love it and use it as a setting spray for my fine, straight hair after I've rolled it on velcro rollers. I've looked my whole life for a super spray that works in humidity, and here it is. I've used it for about eight years.
