Polishes -Lippmann Collection - Million Dollar Mermaid
wtfiholly 4/17/2013 10:18:00 PM
I just used this color today. I love it. It is in the same way that "Mermaid's dream" was. It is an opaque neutral golden nude with very small red and gold glitter that catches the light perfectly! DL calls it a "tangerine twinkle". This is an elegant glittery polish. It's not childish or teenager like in anyway. It is very pretty, more grown up. I love it. It's a great nude nail with just a touch of flash! In some lights it looks almost like a light bronze, in other lights you can see the red flecks that sparkle. I used 2 coats and it covered my nails beautifully. 1 coat would be too light, 3 coats would be deeper and enjoyable as well. It glides on beautifully as DL always does. I have used DL's new "gel lab system" with this and so far I'm happy with the results. I had such a good time picking out this new shade I saw from DL. This is 1 of 4 new "mermaid" shades that DL has. There is "Do the Mermaid", "Mermaids kiss", "Mermaids eyes, and this one. I already have "Mermaid's dream" so this new one "Million Dollar Mermaid" really caught my eye. I love the flashes of red and the golden nude shade of the color itself. If you see it grab it. It really is very pretty and can be worn for more than just spring and summer.

Top/Base Coats -Lippmann Collection - Gel Lab
wtfiholly 4/17/2013 9:40:00 PM
I love Deborah Lippmann polishes. I have fallen in love with this base and top coat set. The box says it is "The healthy alternative to gel manicures". I don't know about that, but I am sure of how well it has worked for me. I have had 3 gel manicures and all 3 times my nails have peeled and were soft, easily broke, and I had a horrible reaction from my cuticles so I must allergic. I stopped using gel nails ASAP. Out of the blue I heard about Deborah Lippmann coming out with this "gel lab" set, an alternative to using a uv light and all the tough stuff in the gel nail polish. I was excited. I finally got one. I was lucky since the store had only gotten 3 sets in. I snatched one up right away! I went home and did my nails the first night with no extras like glitter on the tips or sparkle jewel on a finger, just straight polish and it was a very pretty purple. It lasted 5 days. On the 5th day I had tip wear, then a chip and it wasn't even DL polish I was impressed! It is easy to use, there must be patience using this. The base coat needs to set for at least a minute, I wait for 2. I always use 2 coats of polish, then I use 2 coats of top coat. It's not that the top coat is not shiney enough without the 2nd coat, it's that I like 2 coats of top coat no matter who makes it. I also do not use a "thin" coat as instructed, I use a bit more. This set has done good things and made my nails look as if they are wearing a gel set. I've had people ask me if my nails are gel and where I got that color from. Nothing pleased me more than to tell them that my nails are done at home, no gel involved. The best part is I can remove my polish when I want to without sitting for 20-30 minutes with wet pads attached to my finger nails waiting for the gel to slide off. I can change my color with my whim or mood or every week as I choose. I appreciate that since I like my me time and I can do my nails anyway I want them and they won't peel, split, or chip. I am happy. Try it. It's not for the speedy nail person, it's for the person who likes to take time on their nails, even at a nail salon. If you like to do your own nails have fun and give it a try!

Polishes -Christian Dior - #011 Lady
wtfiholly 1/7/2013 9:07:00 PM
This shade is a white silver. It is gorgeous! This shade was part of three that came in a gift box from Dior. The box held, #751 Marilyn, #901 Diva, and this shade #011 Lady. I did not expect this to be as beautiful as it is, I thought it was just another "white" shade but it is so much more than that. It carries a silver in it that is not at all over powering and a hint of blue, (and I mean just the barest hint of blue) that makes the white of this seem like it's a snowflake colored by the blue of the evening sky. Not at all plain old white, or plain old silver, it's the perfect mix of both with the white being predominate in the mix. Think of a beautiful moonstone and there is the perfect white shade I'm writing about. It is in the adorable round bottle with a really good brush that does not allow the polish to ball up if you nic a wet nail and have to cover up the spot. It is a bit metallic so it can be streaky, but three coats for me makes a perfect cover. You can get away with two, but for this shade I felt three was perfect for me anyway. I've been wearing this for 5 days and have had no chips or issues. My husband noted my nails and told me that he thought this color was "classy" looking. I was impressed, the only other time he noticed was when I wore a shade from DL and that is a silvery beige. This color can be worn in the spring and summer, it's capable of making the transition without looking to wintery in the summer. I'm thinking that in this box collection I can use two of the three for all seasons, nice! I was so lucky to get this boxed set. It was worth the money. I am enjoying all three. I was shocked that I would enjoy wearing this white shade, but then again I do enjoy a good color for nails! If you can try this one do it, it's gorgeous!

Polishes -Christian Dior - #901 Diva
wtfiholly 1/5/2013 12:37:00 AM
I love this black! I don't like black nail polish, lacquer, vernis, whatever anyone wants to call it, it's still black and too much for me except this time..........oh my. It has the most beautiful subtle golden glitter in it so as to make it not "plain" black, but interesting and different. It gets people to take a double take. It was evident when I went to the nail salon that I use and asked them to paint my nails in this shade. The nail tech looked at it and then stopped and looked again and told me "this is gorgeous, I like it, I'd wear it"! I did wear it to a party and had compliments, not as many as I did with Dior's Marilyn, but close. It went on like a dream and stayed on for about 4 days, but that's to be expected with a really dark shade like this one. I touched it up to attend the party and that was ok for me since I normally do my own nails and if I do use a salon I bring my own base coat, polish, and top coat. It is smooth and does not streak. It does take two coats for a good coverage. I always use a base and a top coat with my color. It is such a subtle black, I just can't get over how pretty this is..........really! I put my nails in different lights and can see the difference in shading and color and the glitter, just beautiful! The brush is traditional but does a good job of covering the nail bed. It is not the new brush that Dior has. It is a Limited Edition and comes in a round little glass jar that is so adorable. Mine came as a set with 3 of the colors, all I have to get is "Diorling" and I'll have all 4. I will be trying #011 Lady next. I'm not sure how a white will look on my stubby little fingers, then again I was not sure how black would look. If Dior is making the colors then the nails will look grand! Do not be afraid to adorn your finger tips with jewels, they will always look fantastic!

Polishes -Christian Dior - Marilyn # 751
wtfiholly 12/11/2012 11:37:00 PM
I love red nail polish! I am a red nail polish ho and I know it. I look at as many reds as I can to find that perfect red for that moment. I've found the perfect red for all my moments! It is wonderful. It is a straight red, it does not have lots of glitter going on. It is the truest red I have ever seen. Anyone could wear this red and be noticed. It is simply gorgeous! I bought this in a collection and in this collection I have #751 Marilyn, #901 Diva (yet to be tried on), and #011 Lady (yet to tried on). I think I will get the last of the 4 called Diorling which is a gold polish. # 751 Marilyn went on like a dream without streaks. It covered in one coat but I used two to be on the safe side. I used a base coat and a top coat. When I removed the polish that seeped over my nail bed it did not stain like others I have used. This polish did not bubble either and did not shrink after drying. This polish does dry fast but does not ball up if you repair a nic before your top coat. This polish is beautiful! Like something Marilyn would have worn, or my mother at that time, very sexy without being in your face about it. It's noticeable, but the kind of noticeable that speaks of elegance, timelessness, beauty. I'm thrilled with this shade of red! This is better than my favorite red from OPI "I'm not really a waitress". I love the way the brush works. It's a standard brush not like the brushes that Dior has been using, but it did a fab job of painting without issue. The brush did not let the color ball up or streak and that's a plus. It is so worth the price I paid for all three if I can enjoy nothing but this red then so be it, but I've got two more to try so that's my little pleasure. Get this if you can and wear it proudly! It is gorgeous, enjoy!

Polishes -Christian Dior - Saint Tropez
wtfiholly 12/9/2012 11:46:00 PM
I got this color late in the season of this shade, very late, it was no longer made when I got it. I had to search it out online, then I had to find the sparkle nail color that I saw with it, then I had to get my nail person to make my nails look as good as I saw online. Done, Done, and done! I thought OMG, this color is going to be really bright and neon like on my nails even with the sparkle coat I was wrong it was not. It was a beautiful turquoise that would bring to mind the amazing waters from the very place that the color was named for. It was not at all garish and bright but subtle and elegant, but noticeable. It looks great with 3-D glitter on the tips of my natural nails. It goes on like a dream with that good brush from Dior and will last at least 4 days with a good top coat without chips. There must be a base coat when using this nail lacquer, so it will adhere better to the nail bed. There must be a top coat to this lacquer as well so it will last the 4 days without the chips. I wash once with a sponge only without gloves, then I use gloves from that point on whenever I put my hands in water (except when I wash my hands). I am thrilled with this purchase and with this color from Dior! Oh my sweet DL is having such a run for top slot here, LOL!

Styling Products -Living Proof - Full Thickening Cream
wtfiholly 11/7/2012 11:44:00 PM
I have to say yes or no when asked if I would buy this again. I want them to add MAYBE. I noticed that my thinning bum length hair was just that, thinning. I have a lot of hair and it is down to my bum and I wanted to have some body, so I was told to try this out. I bought the little bottle for $15 and I've used it 4 different times and every time I've used it I've had to use more than a dollop, please that's like non-exsistant for me with my hair, they say use a small amount, LMAO! really!? I used a larger amount, however I did not use it on the scalp area since I knew I would be brushing this through my hair, not smart. I did not smash my hands together and rub, I patted them and stroked my hair from the top of my neck to the ends, then I brushed it through. I did have a little more shine, I did have a little more softness, I did have a little more volume. I was and am happy with that since I have so much hair. I was told to use the foam, but I think not since I am not a fan of too much product in my hair. I don't like foams. It did not make it harder to brush it did help make it softer. It was a nice addition. I have to use an oil to make it shiny and that's a bit strange at times, LOL. If I want shine I braid the hair and add the oil, if I want the body I leave the hair down and add this cream. I wonder if I use the shampoo and conditioner if I will get a better result. I don't want the body to pouf from my scalp, I want it to pouf from my lower hair, the hair from my neck down. Maybe it's my age, maybe it's my menopause, whatever it is I want it dealt with. I should try using some Biotin shampoo and conditioner with this cream, that might help my hair look amazing. We'll see.

Polishes -Chanel - Rouge Noir
wtfiholly 11/5/2012 9:28:00 PM
I had to search for this......that being said I have now come to the understanding as to why this polish is so sought after. I adore DL polishes, they last forever and have the most interesting colors. My first from DL was "JWAR" and that is a true blood red. My second DL polish was "BB". It is a mulberry red and gorgeous as well. This Rouge Noir by Chanel is the perfect blackened blood red! I didn't think that Chanel could do what my HG polish could do. This color is a good color in one coat, but two look so much better. It's darker than that "vamp" color they put out and Rouge Noir carries much more black to it, it has no shimmer or sparkle, just a bold creme that carries the color perfectly! It is my new favorite red that I'll wear on my fingers anytime of the year! The brush is ok. It does the job without a lot of streaking. The formula is good. It dries fast and is exceptionally shiney! I was amazed after 5 days that the shine was still strong. I used a great top coat, but It does not matter what top coat you use if the polish is crap the polish will chip and wear away in minutes. It is like any polish, if you use brillo pads to clean anything, the polish will be destroyed. If I can wash a sink of dishes (with a sponge) and the color stays for the most part on the nail bed itself and I have a bit of wear on the edges, then the polish is worth it, this polish did that and survived! The shine did not dull either. I had to search out this shade since they don't sell it at the counters anymore. I found it and bought it and I've worn it well. I had so many compliments I'm not sure I want to wear any other color this winter. I don't want to run out of this shade, so I'll save it for special occasions and use it then. No, my best friend may not use it on her toes, I know she will want to and this is not a color to hide! LOL

Polishes -Christian Dior - Forget me not
wtfiholly 8/6/2012 10:51:00 PM
This beautiful purple is the other half to the "garden party" from spring Dior 2012, As I said before I was late to this "garden party", but better late than never. This purple is a beautiful purple. It's not shimmery at all this one is a creme. It goes on like a dream, the Dior brush is again amazing to use. The polish covers in one coat but I always use 2. It has not worn away from my tips yet even with my hands doing dishes. It smells like flowers again, but that's ok with me. If my husband kisses my hand he smells it and says "oh you smell good" and I'm ok with that, LOL. I think since purple and green get on well there must be a way to use both of the "garden party" collection on the nails for a spectacular effect. I love this color for it's ability to go into spring, full on in summer and thru to fall without missing a beat. This color is at least a three season wear, easy. Not so sure about the green, but who knows what can be added to make a wintery look, This purple can work for a wintery look. Well done Dior. I didn't want to like or even to love this nail polish from this company. Anything that cost me more than $10 was a indulgence, so DL was my indulgence, now Dior has my attention and I have to save in order to get the colors that I like from Dior. If my husband ever found out about my Dior nail polish addiction, he'd have a stroke. I'm not telling and if I do I hope the color is on sale, LOL! I'm looking at some Tom Ford colors and they're more expensive than Dior.........Oh my, I'm in trouble. LMAO!

Lips -Yves Saint Laurent - Stain gloss in 4--Mauve Pigment
wtfiholly 7/31/2012 10:45:00 AM
I love the color on me it tones down to a natural look with just one application of this very large spade foot. It's in a plastic container with a little window to see how much is in it, that's a nice touch since most others don't do that. I noticed that the gloss was gone after I ate something but the stain remained, very nice. It felt sticky but smooth, not at all the kind of sticky that dries out my lips. I did not notice a fragrance good or bad with my gloss/stain. What I did notice was how easy this was to apply, how light it felt after it dried. I even applied one coat and blotted my lips to see how that would go over with my lips and it left a very light color on my lips, just enough color to make them look natural, no gloss which is fine. I have a hard time finding some things like lip stuff, I can never find a color that makes my lips look good without drying them out. This has not made my lips scream for moisture and it's not slippery with the gloss. I am impressed, but what does not impress me is the amount of money required to buy this $32, OMG! Despite the amount of money to buy these, I think I will try another color, the hard part will be finding another one that I will want to wear everyday like this one, that will look natural on me. I can not let my husband have any idea how much these cost, he will pass out from shock, gotta hide the receipts, LOL!

Polishes -Christian Dior - Waterlily
wtfiholly 7/30/2012 9:25:00 PM
I saw this color and I had to have it. I know I was late getting to this "garden party", but better late than never. I used this as a base color for DL's "mermaid's dream" for a weekend away and I had tons of compliments. I came home and removed the polish and just put on "Waterlily" alone. I had to go out and when I did I had nothing but compliments again. It changes with the lighting, from a standard green to a shimmer green, to a spring green, to a almost O.D. green. It is gorgeous. It goes on like a dream, It does not streak, it stays on strong without chipping. it smells after it is dry, like flowers, or roses maybe. I use a sticky base coat for natural nails, two coats of polish and a top coat. It really is gorgeous on. It has a different brush than I have used before. The brush is shaped so the it can cover my whole nail in one stroke, my thumbs in one and a half strokes. when I did that I did it on the first coat so if I made any mistakes then I could fix them. I really like this. I didn't want to love this polish as much as my DL, but wow is this some good stuff. My nails look beautiful and I am a firm believer that polish is jewels for the nails. Wear what you like. I don't care that the polish smells like flowers either I am only concerned with the color and the wear of the polish. This brush is fantastic too, so my DL has some small competition. I'm thrilled with this green from Dior. it's like no other color I've seen or I've had. I am enjoying it very much. If you can find it and you can get it go for it, it's worth it. Remember to use a really good top coat!

Top/Base Coats -Nubar - Diamont Top Coat
wtfiholly 7/25/2012 11:42:00 PM
I have never, ever, bought a top coat that has ever done what it promised to do and this one has!!! I have used it over my HG polish DL and it lasted me 5 days un-chipped. I got a new polish so I changed it. I used it over my Dior polish and it lasted just as long! It makes my polish shiney and bright! My natural nails look fantastic! It does not shrink even with dish washing, who would've thunk??? It's thick and I like that more than a thin top coat. it dries fast too! What a great combination! I can only buy it online but that's ok, it's cheap even with the shipping. Nubar's polish remover is great too, so I'll get that if I need it too. I am thrilled that this does not shrink so the tips of my nails stay covered and look good up until I take it off unless I do something to make my polish chip, then that's a different story. It's worth the try on one's nails. I think it will give that other one a run for the money! LOL.

Polishes -Christian Dior - Violet Nouveau Monde/New World Purple
wtfiholly 7/25/2012 11:18:00 PM
Oh how I wanted to hate this nail color for many reasons. 1st: it was more expensive than DL, 2nd: it was not listed as being 3 free, 3rd: it's Dior, come on really a nail color by Dior....seriously, how good can that be? I am ashamed to say that I am a convert to Dior polish. I bought this "one" and I thought oh it's just gonna be a purple that anyone else can make, oh was I wrong. It is a deep plum with a lot of brown, blue, and gold sparkles in it, but not like it's all about sparkles either. It's done with elegance. In one light it's got lots of blue and purple and in another it is brown and has a lot of brown and gold in it. It is gorgeous on the nails add a top coat and the wow factor has happened! This was my first foray into Dior nail polish and I'm now sold. I love the brush (better than DL my HG), I love the color selection. I loved this color even if I only saw it online. when I got it I was amazed at how beautiful the color really was. It's ease of application was fantastic, no lines, the dry time was minimal and quick! I used a base coat and only needed two coats to cover completely, then my top coat. It lasted long than I thought. It lasted without chips and minimal wear on the tips 4 days. I got chips after the 4th day and that's ok for me and my natural nails. I'm sure it will last longer with people who have fake nails. I also use Nubar Diamont top coat and it rocks for me, better than anything I have ever used! I now am looking for other colors by Dior that fit my color choices. So far I've bought this color, and "waterlily" and "forget me not". I think that "waterlily" with DL's "mermaid's dream" will look outstanding and I can't wait to try it! I think "forget me not" with DL's "bring on the bling" will look amazing. I can't wait to try all of them together. Yes they are pricey but wow what a beautiful color they make for the nails. I truly believe that we can wear jewelry on our nails and the polish is our jewels. I'm not sure if Dior will be having this color for long so get it while you can. I have always said you get what you pay for and so far I am right. These polishes are fantastic!

BB Cream -Dr. Jart+ - Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45 PA+++
wtfiholly 6/25/2012 11:41:00 PM
Edit: I have taken to mixing my LS with this BB cream and it is perfect. I mic one part LS foundation and two parts Dr. Jart, for me this is the perfect mix. I'm still putting my sunscreen over the mixture and it's working like a charm for me. I'm enjoying this more now than before, therefore I am upping my lippies by 1. I was given this BB and another BB to try out. I found that I like this BB better than the other one. I used the sample everyday and it was not too pink on my skin it did not look like I had makeup on either, that I like. I used this BB cream first for the benefits of the cream itself then I put my sunscreen over it, my sunscreen is a 60, this is a 45, both have a PA+++ which makes me happy. I went out and bought the bottle of it. I like that his cream matches my skin-tone, has anti-aging serum, bio-peptides, firming technology, and brighteners. I'm ok with that. I'm ok with using it before I use my normal sunscreen too. If this is at all oily it is not for me since I use my sunscreen after and my sunscreen tends to mattify any oily look this cream might give. I apply this BB cream, wait a couple of minutes and apply my sunscreen, then it's off to the races! LOL! I used it last week in the dreadful heat we had on a ride for a funeral. The BB cream stayed put and so did my sunscreen. The only thing that ran away was the lower lash mascara, but it didn't matter anyway. I had an even tone, that was a plus since I was melting every place and felt like a wet rag, I was drenched from main to tail, but my face was not running, LOL. I can not say that I would buy this again. I want to see with long term use if the bio-peptides make a difference. I like the SPF 45 PA+++, but I don't want it to come right off with sweat which it does, hence the use of my sunscreen over it since my sunscreen is sweat resistant enough to hold up to a heavy dose of sweating without serious repeat applications. I hope this will be good enough to use as a base for makeup in the winter, hopefully not making the makeup too dark, but helping to keep the lines and wrinkles to a minimum. This is definitely lighter in weight on my face than GA's face fabric, or LS. I think this is a good choice for the summer for now. If it is helping with lines and wrinkles then I am all about it. I like it when people say I look too young to have kids as old as I have them, LOL!

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking Mascara
wtfiholly 6/22/2012
Yes because there is no "maybe" on here. I love my faux effet cils in #5 or burgundy. I can wear it without having an issue now. I bought the "shocking" to deal with what I needed right then and there since I could not get the other. I bought the black cherry color and wow did it do a good job in color! I wore it for a very special occasion last weekend and it made my eyes pop in the pictures. I was also wearing BB black ruby palette too. I'm going to try this mascara without any eyeshadow and layer it to see what I get. What I got from one layer was good, but do I wait till the layer is fully dry before I add another layer, or can I layer before fully dry and make it even fuller? I loved the color. It was not too black and had enough color to make me happy without making me red eyed, which I sometimes get with my normal YSL favorite. I don't like to wear black mascara, it makes me look washed out and does not compliment my eyes at all. This black cherry color was not like that at all, it hilited my eyes without making them look too made up and allowed my eyeshadow to take some of the lead which made me happy. One of the best things was when my husband saw me he stopped and took a double take, gave me "that" look and smiled, OMG! My husband said my eyes were just as seductive as the rest of me that day, I'm sold to point. LOL! It is a wet mascara. With every layer you must let the first layer dry, I have not found out the amount of drying time yet. I want to see how well it builds my eyelashes and if I get the same remarks about wearing false lashes with this. If I need time I need to find out how much this one will take. I don't want to take 40 minutes when I can take 15. I like the brush so far, but I need to find "MY" sweet spot with this. The brush did my lower lashes perfectly. I had no clumps, no flakes, no raccoon eyes, no smudges, no smearing even after 7 hours of wear and sweating and crying. The big test will be a good long ride on the bike with my husband. Then all will be told. In the meantime it's not a bad mascara, it is YSL. It's new to me.
