Mascara -Prescriptives - False Eyelashes Plush Mascara

I was looking for a mascara that could provide length, density and curl without clumping, flaking or smudging. I found it!!! When applied correctly (on naked lashes-I found that results varied when I had eye cream on my lashes at the time of application) it really does help create rich, long, curled lashes that frame my eyes. It is expensive, (minus one lippie), but still a very worthwhile purchase.

Candles -Votivo - Red Currant candle

Red Currant is a delicious scent and I was very impressed by the amount of fragrance emmitted when lit. Like other reviewers, however, I was concerned about the soot/smoke when burning. I did a little research and found out that parrafin wax candles (like Votivo Red Current) actually release a number of toxins when burned. I DID NOT want to give up my favorite scent, but I didn't want to be exposed to anything unhealthy, either. I looked for an alternative and finally found one that I think smells almost exactly like the original: Bluewick Soy candle in Dewberry. These candles are still not widely available in all areas but can be found on the internet. They are comprable in price to Votivo Red Current but burn much more cleanly! Yeah...the best of both worlds!

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser

This is a very gentle and affordable face wash that I have been using happily for years. But, clearly it isn't for everyone. It works well for me because I have fairly dry skin, live in a mild climate (Northern California), and only wear a moderate amount of makeup (concealer, blush, mascara and lipgloss). For best results, I apply it directly to my dry (not wet) skin and then wash away with warm water. I would recommend Cetaphil to those with dry or sensitive skin looking for a gentle cleanser. However, I wouldn't recommend Cetaphil to those looking for a strong cleanser to remove lots of dirt, oil or makeup or for those who want a foaming and/or fragranced cleanser.
