Polishes -Essie - Tart Deco

Very disappointed in this color. I bought this because I thought the coral peachiness of it was really pretty for the summer. Little did I know that it would apply like a nightmare, so gloppy, thick, and streaky. Most Essie's I have tried apply beautifully, so what a let down.

Conditioner -ABBA - Nourishing Leave-on conditioner
windrose 11/19/2010 2:45:00 PM
This is a review for Abba's Abba Pure Gentle Conditioner. I understand that this is the new name for what was formerly Nourishing Leave-On Conditioner. Where do I start? I have literally tried dozens and dozens of drugstore and salon leave-ins for my long, thick, chemically processed, dehydrated hair. I was always short of finding my HG leave-in, other ones were not moisturizing enough, worked for a while then dried out my hair, too greasy, or just generally seemed "meh." Enter Pure Gentle Conditioner. I tried this on a whim because I was looking for a silicone free leave-in, and having tried everything else out there on the market, thought I might give this a whirl as well. I didn't expect much, but my goodness, I can't believe I've finally found my HG leave-in at last!! This leave-in left my hair with an *incredible* amount of shine and bounce, and beautifully moisturized. After I used this, I actually couldn't believe in how dramatically better this made my hair look, because the effect was something I had only hoped for or imagined to this point, after seeing so many leave-ins fail. Even my DH spontaneously commented on how nice my hair looked. Other leave ins left my hair dull or flat, or seemed to do nothing, this gives my thick hair so much bounce, body, and shine (though I'd never thought I actually wanted my thick hair to have any more body, it looks great with this). I also find I have a lot less tangled hair in the back, which was always inevitable with my long thick hair. This is definitely HG and a huge winner for me, I am so glad to have found this!!!

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Biggs & Featherbelle Soaps

I love how natural soaps feel and smell, and I absolutely LOVE Biggs and Featherbelle soaps! Thanks to my sister who was vacationing in Boston and picked up a few of their items at a boutique, I came across B&F's lip balm and soaps. I was so impressed with the quality that I looked them up online and ordered a sampler of their products. Since, I have been faithfully using their lip balms and soaps. I have tried many natural soaps, and Biggs and Featherbelle soaps are my favorite. They lather beautifully, feel wonderful, and smell exquisite. Plus, I love their adorable packaging. My favorite soaps are the Goody Bar, Fixins, and Barlesque, but love most of the rest of them as well. Also, their Eskimo Kiss lip balm is amongst the best balms I have ever tried, and I have tried many - low to high end. Really pleased to have found this fabulous line, I would encourage you to give them a try.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Esencia by Samy Mandarin Citrus Volumizing Shampoo
windrose 4/29/2010 2:34:00 PM
I have long, thick hair that is dehydrated, and absolutely ***LOVE THIS***. I have tried so many D/S and salon products and found so many just plain don't work for me, are too harsh, or work for a few weeks then leave my hair feeling dry/brittle. This cleans my hair without stripping it of moisture, and leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth. I love that it doesn't have any harsh SLS's and no parabens to boot! It has a light mandarin scent that doesn't smell so grossly artificial like a lot of other D/S shampoos. I have found that this shampoo makes a huge difference in the quality of my chemically processed, long hair, and I will continue to repurchase!! I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a shampoo free of SLS's and parabens and have hair on the dryer end or you want to grow.

Fragrances -Les Parfums de Rosine - Zephir de Rose
windrose 10/14/2009 3:13:00 PM
I have been looking for the perfect rose fragrance for so, so long. Rose is my favorite scent, and yet there are so many unattractive, old, musty, granny roses, or sharp, sour, soapy roses out there. So, for years I have not worn a fragrance with rose in the forefront simply because I’ve not been able to find one I’ve liked. Recently, I’ve come upon the fascinating world of niche fragrances, and thank goodness for that. I have been finding that an overwhelming majority of department store lines smell just awful (and the same) to me. I came upon Zephir de Rose in a samples set brought directly from Rosine site. Oh my, this is truly the rose I’ve been looking for all these years! This is a fresh, sweet, modern rose, I can smell the ripe dewiness of roses intermingled with anise which really brings out the freshness and brightness of the rose. I wouldn’t have thought of liking this somewhat unusual pairing, but wow, these go so well together and work to enhance each other. On me, this mix of roses and anise actually smells like roses sweetened with fresh lychees, with just the right amount of sweetness. I have since tried many, many other rose fragrances from over a dozen niche lines wondering if perhaps most niche line roses smell this wonderful, but it hasn’t been so. This is gorgeous fresh, dewy, modern smelling rose. I am definitely in love. This has very nice lasting power and sillage to boot. Love this!

Powder -Pure Luxe Cosmetics - Mineral Powder Foundation
windrose 1/16/2007 4:36:00 PM
This is a fairly nice foundation that gives off a slight sheen to the skin. It has medium coverage that can be built up with more layers, like most mineral foundations. It stands up moderately well in the Californian heat. However, I find myself getting more surface oil with this foundation and more blotting is necessary than with other mineral foundations. Be forewarned that Pure Luxe's customer service leaves much to be desired. The owner of this line hardly responds to emails. She ignores email inquiries, and judging from other Pure Luxe reviews, I am not the only one this has happened to. Because of the poor customer service, I have to take off a lippie or two. Apparently, the owner went through a period where her computer crashed, but I sent emails that went ignored that were not sent during this period. This company should realize that ignoring inquiries is no way to gain customer loyalty.
