Polishes -Butter London - All Hail the Queen
willy56 9/19/2010 9:39:00 AM
My nail polish applying abilities are inept. There I have said it. It's OK though- I am struggling along and won't give up. That being said, I am always impressed with a nail polish that can miraculously apply itself- or so it seems. Every Butter London polish has done just that for me. During my current obsession, I almost skipped All Hail McQueen from it's description- an opaque holographic beige. For me, nail polish with holographic attached to it conjures up a frightful mess and a fair amount of nail polish remover. Thankfully I summoned the courage through a swap to try my hand at it. Imagine my surprise at the ease of applying All Hail Mc Queen and the beauty of the shade. The holographic shimmer is so subtle but without it this would be just a typical beige nail polish. It is both a sophisticated and a neutral shade- suitable for everyday and every age.I have even manage to receive a few compliments. Imagine that- inept skills and all! My new favorite Fall shade.

Makeup Brushes -Edward Bess - Luxury Eye Brush
willy56 9/17/2010 4:31:00 PM
My makeup bag these days is overflowing with Burberry and Edward Bess products. No bragging here. I have a theory that on many different levels less is more .Buy quality. Buy less. I swapped and gave away many of my old brushes and decided one would do. I purchased the luxury eye brush and yes, it is expensive but with proper care will last for years. It comes in an elegant, yet simple wooden box. It is the kind of brush that needs a box worthy of it. One would expect a fine piece of jewelry to be on the inside and to some extent it is ; heavy weighted metal and sleek with an expansive natural bristle brush. Jewelry for the makeup bag. The brush can take one broad sweep of your eye lid or can be angled for a smaller area. Buying quality. Buying less.

Makeup Brushes -Burberry - Beauty Brush
willy56 9/10/2010 9:15:00 PM
Makeup brushes are often an afterthought for me. Usually I settle for the brush within the compact. This brush is indulgent, gentle, utterly soft , plush and thick with pony and goat hair , It sweeps across my face like a whisper . Housed in the GORGEOUS Burberry packaging and super elegant cozy bag with a wrap around cord. At the top of my list of my Burberry makeup collection.

Polishes -Butter London - Yummy Mummy
willy56 9/9/2010 2:50:00 PM
After applying Butter London Yummy Mummy I could not get to the review section of MakeupAlley fast enough. My nail polish collection this fall is a humble one, I only have a few. Chanel's Trapeze, Angora,Antilope , an anticipation of Rose Confidentiel and now Butter London Yummy Mummy. Elegance in a bottle minis the shimmer is how I would describe it. A sophisticated UNUSUAL neutral taupe with a hint of mauve. I am fair with pink tones but I would think this would look lovely on most skin tones. Glides on like a dream- this coming from someone with less than perfect nail application technique. Love this so much I have a second and looking forward to trying more Butter London polishes!

Bronzers -Edward Bess - Daydream
willy56 4/24/2010 7:18:00 PM
It took me awhile to convince myself that I should try Edward's bronzer. I am very fair with pink tones and most bronzers have been a disaster on me making my skin a faux muddy/ orange look-not flattering on my aging skin. During the BG sale I decided to try his bronzer in sunlight and I am so glad I did. The shade is close to cocoa- a very fine milled pressed powder that goes on sheer and gives my skin a subtle glow.It is such a beautiful product- the large case is super luxe.I have noticed that the products made in USA have better quality casings than a few of Edward's other Taiwan products. Part of the beauty of this makeup is the packaging the cosmetics are housed in. I would buy this again when this runs out but it is a very generous compact that I suspect will last a good long while.

Lip Gloss -Edward Bess - Deep Shine Lip Gloss
willy56 4/22/2010 10:43:00 PM
So impressed with Edward Bess and his makeup,I have either given away or I am in the process of swapping most of my old makeup away. Goodbye chanel, chantecaille, by terry, Dior- move over for an innovative line of cosmetics that actually enhances women's natural beauty. Edward's deep shine lip gloss in soft whisper is a perfect nude- my lips but better. It is both moisturizng and stays in place like no other lip gloss I've used. It can be used with most of his lipsticks or on it's own. I have always shied away from glitzy shimmering shades and feel less is more at least for myself. Subtle elegance is how I would describe Edward's Bess entire line and moreover I placed an order and Edward himself answered the phone. A gracious young man.

WOW! A beauty product that actually does what it claims it will do ! I started using this in January 2010 nearly everyday-as an undercoat and daily on top of nail polish. My nails always started peeling /breaking after a week or so. I have not had one nail break or peel in two months- the longest my nails have been.My nails are so strong and look so healthy.Along with Nailtek Intensive Therapy, I use Essies crystal nail file and LUSH lemony flutter. As long as this product is available I will continue to buy!

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Lemony Flutter
willy56 3/11/2010 8:54:00 AM
Could it be that I have finally found the magic formula for growing and maintaining healthy nails? I believe so- at least for me.LUSH lemony Flutter is part of my daily routine. I use it on both cuticles and nail beds and my nails are the healthiest/strongest they have been- EVER! No breakage, hang nails and works great as a hand cream as well(tiny bit goes along way). I have used Burt's Bees cuticle cream also and find this more beneficial to my nails. Three must haves for long nails(for me) LUSH lemony flutter(daily) Essie crystal nail file and Nailtek Intensive Therapy II (daily)

Fragrances -Le Labo - Gaiac 10
willy56 1/22/2010 4:45:00 PM
There are a handful of fragrances that I will never part with and Le Labo Gaiac 10 is at the top of the list. Gaiac 10 knows no seasonal bounds- light enough to wear in the summer heat yet the woodsy cedar works well in winter months.I am not a fan of musks but Gaiac 10 settles on the skin lightly yet will last many hours with out being over bearing.. To describe this elusive scent is not an easy task.I do know this: a few sprays of this elusive, tranquil fragrance sets the mood for the day-both simple yet sophisticated The bottle like all Le Labo packaging is devoid of extravagance- basic apothecary style bottle and label .The cap design is almost an ornament-substantial in weight yet sensible-together with the bottle it somehow connotes the science of fragrance. Adoration......

Fragrances -Le Labo - Vanille 44
willy56 12/15/2009 8:03:00 AM
Le Labo Vanille 44 has become my new signature fragrance- before this TF Tobacco Vanille. A smooth ,creamy, subltle, madagascar vanilla that settles on my skin like a cashmere blanket on a cold winter day. So smooth, warming and luxurious. At this point I have decants and lucky to have them-so hard it is to get a full bottle!
