Eye Shadow -MAC - 7 EYES- PINK
wildorchidfaire 11/2/2003 9:07:00 AM
Like the others, I love the packaging! Those strips of colors and the vinvyl case is just too irresistable. I adore pinks, I seem to be able to wear them well enough, but truth be told this is not totally pink. The lighter side is pink, but the darker side is more purple based. I can't find one shade that I truly adore even though they all look so good in the palette. The darker shades leave me looking bruised. Amongst those, Wintertwig was the most disappointing. It looked so gorgeous in the palette, a silver microglitter infused lilac-grey...But when applied the microglitter falls all over the face!!! I was shocked when I found that happening, I thought it would be alot more pigmented judging from the pan!!! Beautymark is another disappointment.. It's beautiful violet shimmer in the pan but totally black on me. Maybe it'll pass for DARK violet but it isn't cutting it for me. Melton muave is sheer regardless of application. You will never get that strong color in the palette! Also AVOID using Melton Muave & Yogurt wet -- water will stain the surface of these shadows!! I guess my dissatisfaction with this palette mainly lies with the fact that I am warm-tone and the darker shades are true cool tone shadows... They *are* beautiful to look at...just not beautiful on me :( Sad eh? :) I don't think that these are MAC's best, despite some people touting them as....The quality is ok (Except for winter twig $#%#@$@!!) but it can be better! Value wise however it is great - 7g of shadows, 1 g each....2/3 of the regular pot! :) This palette gets a 3 from me because of melton mauve and wintertwig.

Eye Shadow -I Nuovi - Pressed Wet/Dry Colour Pigment D27 Eyeshadows (All Colors)

I have fever (hot pink), fairy (silver lilac shimmer that makes brown eyes POP! it's my favourite!), star (white that flashes purple/blue), witch (rich black with a decieving layer of shimmer on top >:|) I despise witch but admittedly it has been good to me :P All of these are of excellent quality and pigment, and are cheaper than MAC/Stila (I remember I bought them at 16.90SGD each)....I especially like the fact that they are designed for the face, i.e. you can use them for blush if you fancy! There was one time when I wanted shimmer on cheeks and didn't have any, so I started using fairy on them. Very very very very pretty. Can be used wet/dry, as all eyeshadows they look more pigmented wet...Look for a CP if they are not near you.. I am sure you won't be disappointed, these shadows are great! BTW if you find them hard to remove out of their dome shaped pots, just microwave em :X It distorts the dome but it works. ehehehe.

I am drooling mentally at this eyeshadow, been lemming it FOREVER and thought that I would never be able to get it since it's LE....I went down to my mac counter to pick up the holidazzle pinkpalette and guess what, I SAW THIS!!!!!!!!!!! I was like "MWAHHAHAHA!!" :X Anyway I just *couldn't* resist, been looking for the perfect green everywhere else but my instinct told me this was it. So despite it leaving my skin looking bruise when I applied it on my hand, I gave it alot of faith!! I came home and applied it....I just couldn't believe it when I saw how it looked on top inuovi fairy (silverish lilac shimmer). it was GORGEOUS....!! *in love* I am wearing it right now, with stila barefootcontessa in the crease and at corners of eye (sounds weird but looks great!), swimming on the lid, with inuovi fairy as base and the gold from chanel influences as a highlight on the middle of lid and on browbone, lash expansion in black. I got complimented! mehehehe. oh pretty pretty pretty! :) yay for longlastingness and just enough pigment...very very very blendable. DON'T give this a miss!

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Expansion Waterproof

Woohoo! Say hello to length; IMHO is similar to L'Oreal's longitude but with 1) less stiffness 2) less smudging. Longitude smudges too easily for me. I just got it today and used it... Nice and pretty, opened up my eyes *perfectly* and have no problems with clumps or curling. Only thing is despite less stiffness (as compared to longitude) it is still *kinda* spidery looking. Of course, you'd have to go beyond 2 coats for that to happen....:) another winner for me from maybelline!

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Influences Quadra Eye Shadow
wildorchidfaire 10/18/2003 6:56:00 AM
SO pretty! Very versatile and apparently can be worn in 77 ways. I've only tried one today and I'm pretty amazed by the eyeshadows. The colors in the compact do not appear as they would on the skin --the white one turned out to be a brilliant shimmery gold and the goldish one turned out to be a cool blue based white! The brown goes on smokey and pretty typical dry, but when used wet flashes a brilliant plum. I haven't really experimented with the pink one yet but it looks SO pretty on my hands... Needless to say I am amazed. I don't think these are neccessarily pigmented because they look sheer, but when on the lids the color is intense and long wearing, does not crease and perfectly beautiful. I think the eyeshadows use stuff that prompts optical illusions of some sort.... Also, used dry or wet gives extremely different results. I could use one color alone to create a good eye look. My first Chanel quad, and despite the price tag will not be my last!!!

Crème -Cover Girl - AquaSmooth SPF15 Make-up
wildorchidfaire 10/16/2003 8:57:00 AM
This reminds me of Bobbibrown's oilfree compact foundation.. I love the whole liquid to cream to powder idea, quite ingenious I must say. But the colors are OFF. O-F-F. Mine is buff beige, supposedly for a NC 30-35.... It's too freaking orange. I had to mix it with some yellow stuff, so I might be a tad bias about the performance. But judging from the blendability and texture, I think this is excellent. No problems of this slipping off but I was indoors mostly, 65% airconditioned...It went matte after setting. Using loose powder afterwards made it kinda chalky though. Coverage is so so although it is buildable and can be used on the more unsightly bids. Great thing for taking photos -- I took some on a digicam, I looked great! Poreless and blemish-less and all that. Niceee. Convenient for travel too... But appears to have pretty little product. Overall I like it but the shades need to be improved. I don't mind the packaging but gee, why space blue? 4 from the foundation whore :)
EDITED: Broke me out. Very badly.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara Waterproof
wildorchidfaire 10/3/2003 7:56:00 AM
A heaven sent and my HG -- after trying a high end from HR and comparing the results to fullnsoft, I must say that FullnSoft performs hell lot better than the HR. It not only gave me beautiful long lashes but also made them soft and voluminous!!! Don't hesistate to buy this! I was stupid to spend so much on the HR. I will never stray from the drugstore for mascaras EVER again...The only thing I do not like is the brush which is a tad too big for me.

Blush -The Body Shop - Cheek Colour - 04 Golden Pink
wildorchidfaire 10/1/2003 12:59:00 PM
A little too red on me.... Not really sure why. Loads and loads of golden shimmer, very pretty to use on a matt foundation face...After 15 blushes, I still am not finding a blush that looks NATURAL on me!! (Well EA had one that did but I broke it>:|) If this is a good replication of NARS' Orgasm I'm glad I didn't blow big bucks on the original! :) Comparism aside, this is a fabulous blush for every day use, is beautifully pigmented, and unlike the other reviewers I don't find the packaging too tacky or vulnerable to damage! In fact I have had mine for a good 6 months now and it is still intact :) I'm not the sort that takes good care of things too. They could do better but it isn't that bad.

Liquid -Clinique - Clarifying Makeup Clear Skin Formula [DISCONTINUED]
wildorchidfaire 9/26/2003 3:42:00 PM
I really need to stop buying foundation.........I did not like the selection of colors, even the neutral ones had pinks in them. But I do love this foundation! Very nice and mattifying, smooth and creamy, easy to blend, covers pores *perfectly*, streak proof and transfer resistant and of course, the skin clearing agent. But please be careful - even though it is a skin clearing makeup, it still WILL clog pores. Trust me cos I have had clean pores for quite a while now, but after using this they clogged up again... I've come to the conclusion that no foundation is non comodogenic... In fact, I think the cosmetics companies made up that word >:| BTW this is a nice foundation to go swimming in. lol.

Brows -Revlon - Browcolor
wildorchidfaire 9/26/2003 2:08:00 PM
I've had this in brunette for quite awhile now... Did not like it at first, but used it in a hurry today and really liked it! I have sparse brows but the brow gel works nicely on me too. Nice natural look. The pencil's okay but nothing special. I had to use my fingers to blend because this does not have a blending brush... :) Won't buy again but it was a nice novelty to have.

Treatments (Eye) -Mavala - Double-Lash
wildorchidfaire 9/22/2003 6:54:00 AM
I don't know if it was supposed to lengthen my lashes through consistent application, but it most certainly did strengthen them! I wear wp mascara daily because of the humid weather in Singapoe, so removing is a pain in the a**. Tough tugging and all that, so lashes were really brittle and dropping like nuts (woe be me...) Friend recommended me this product, she said it would make my lashes GROW!. heh. It did grow. I am not sure if the lashes grew longer, however after a month of usage I could see *small* short lashes at places lashes never grew before. Niceee. But after finishing 1 bottle I didn't go back to it...... Now the lashes are weak again. Think I'll try Talika next! :)

Lipstick -Clinique - Moisture Sheer SPF 15 [DISCONTINUED]

I think I'm gonna get addicted to this....Not a good thing! Recieved Sweet Violet as a GWP, was surprised at the color in the tube but tried it on anyway.... OMG... It's *gorgeous*! A pop of sheer, moisturizing color and a pretty shine. I love this. I can never truly pull of lipstick without looking 5 years older (which may be a good thing in my case as I have a "baby face"... But I am 19 and would like to look 19 still). This one is *less* pigmented than normal lipsticks and a perfect daytime lipstick! Am hoping to try some other colors soon!!

Eye Shadow -Bourjois - Trio Eye Shadow - Effet Lumiere
wildorchidfaire 9/19/2003 10:29:00 AM
I have Les Brun Cuivres, a trio of bronzy browns and champagne, and I love it to death. Very versatile... I also use it as a "bronzer" by sweeping my blush brush across the three shades. Works very well for my skintone (NC 30 - 35) :) I don't really like the packaging however. It's a personal thing.....

Eye Shadow -MAC - Bare Canvas Paint
wildorchidfaire 9/15/2003 1:57:00 AM
This is my first and only eye base. I had been looking for an eye base due to my stupid oily lids and did a little research. Alot of people recommended this, and I took a chance... This is such a tiny tube but a little goes a very long way! My eye makeup lasts beautifully with this on, and I only experience fading in extreme heat (stupid tropics weather) :) Very good product. Just dab onto eyelid and blend, remember to close the tube back immediately as the paint oozes out by itself if placed by itself!
