Shampoo -TRESemme - Natural Shampoo
wildflower85 12/2/2011 8:36:00 PM
At first I really liked this shampoo, it smells great, and my hair felt good after using it. But, it didn't take long for me to notice that if I skipped washing for just one day, my hair would get greasy and just awful. I'm a new Mom, so I don't get to shower everyday as I would like, but I would expect my shampoo not to reveal that fact to everyone! I tried using this shampoo with and without a different conditioners, I tried using more of it to see if that would help...but no, nothing did. In the end, I had to switch away from this shampoo (just back to Herbal Essences, nothing special), so I could have clean hair again. I don't know if it's because there are "fewer sulphates" as advertised on the bottle that it doesn't clean very well, or if there's another reason. Maybe it just doesn't agree with my body chemistry. Whatever the reason, this shampoo was a hassle, and really didn't clean my hair. Another note: the bottle, left in the shower, got kind of sticky...without my getting anything on it. It makes me think the plastic must be porous or something, letting the shampoo seep out. Not impressed, I wouldn't buy again.

Lipstick -MAC - Such Flare!
wildflower85 11/26/2011 7:47:00 PM
Bright red, matte lipstick for the holiday season. This is a LE from the Glitter and Ice 2011 winter collection. Application is easy, and this lipstick has great staying power. I applied it once at 4 p.m., went out to dinner, then drinks, and only after many hours of wear did it even begin to fade. I was very impressed. The formula is not horribly matte, which I like, because it doesn't end up looking dried-out like some matte lipsticks. It also doesn't dry my lips out either, which makes wearing it all the more comfortable. I will definitely be wearing this one more during the holiday season....and long past...it's a great, versatile color that gives a modern take on a classic red. I would buy again.

Polishes -Revlon - Facets of Fuchsia
wildflower85 9/20/2011 11:29:00 PM
Great dupe for Bad Romance, and in my opinion, it looks even better. So, what we have here is tiny square and larger hexagonal fuchsia glitters suspended in a black jelly. It does indeed look best when you use multiple layers, since the black jelly itself can mute previous coats of glitter, giving your nails more dimensionality. I use 2 coats over 1 coat of Zoya Raven. I would definitely buy again.

Hair Styling Tools -Goody - Spin Pin
wildflower85 9/12/2011 11:05:00 PM
When a friend of mine showed me these things in Target, I was super skeptical that they would work, they're just a couple of twisty wires, right? Well, she convinced me to try them out, since they worked with her hair, and guess what? They work like a dream. I have NEVER been able to do anything but ponytails with my hair, but with these things I can do a classy little bun with no trouble. They're like magic. What you need to do when using them is: get your hair all up in the bun (holding with your hand), and twist the first pin through the base of the bun so it catches the 'do and the hair on your head, keeping it in place. While still holding the bun with your hand, take the 2nd pin and swirl it in at a slight angle in toward your head. That one will keep the bun itself together. I would definitely buy again.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Crackle Overcoat in Ink SpLatter
wildflower85 8/27/2011 12:09:00 PM
Though it's a little expensive for what it is (seriously, they made this stuff, and it was cheap, when I was 12, I don't think it's that expensive to produce), this Crackle is of good enough quality that I would buy it again. It's generally easy to use as long as you play by the rules! 1) Make sure the polish you want to show through is totally dry, 2) load up the brush to make sure you have enough polish for an entire nail (you can't go back over it without ruining the effect), 3) don't lay it on too thick or the cracks won't work! Finally, be sure to put on a good topcoat because this stuff dries matte (if you like it that way, get a matte topcoat, like Hard Candy), and the cracks make for easy catching points that will make your mani flake. In all, it looks fantastic over any bright or pale colors. My only complaint is that the brush is really narrow and makes it difficult to apply evenly and as quickly as I'd like.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - FastDry - Hannah Pinktana
wildflower85 8/27/2011 12:01:00 PM
Dumbest name ever, yes, completely true. BUT, it's pretty good polish. It looks great on, has enough sparkle to make it interesting, but isn't a PITA glitter. This goes on easily for me, no streaking, and does indeed dry very quickly. As a new mom, this is a big plus for me! I rarely get more than a few minutes at a time to do my nails, and fast-drying is a huge deal when you may have to get up immediately to change a diaper! Anyway, it wears just fine on me as long as I have a good base-coat on. As an aside, it looks very cute under a crackle polish. It's cheap and worth it, I would buy again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Motif eyeshadow
wildflower85 8/24/2011 1:02:00 PM
If you just glance at this color, it looks pretty boring, yellow too, and unappealing, but once it's on, you can see just how awesome this eyeshadow is. It's a duochrome peach with a gorgeous shimmer of purple/pink. When it's applied, the yellow truly fades to peach and just alllows a beautiful highlight to your eyelids. Not terribly dramatic, but definitely noticable. I like to wear this everyday, and it looks great lit with Nocturnelle. I will definitely buy again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Nocturnelle Eyeshadow
wildflower85 8/17/2011 12:34:00 PM
Nocturnelle is a fabulous red-based purple that works great with green eyes. I tend to use this one as a crease or brow highlighter over my two go-to eyeshadow colors: Expensive Pink and Motif. It gives depth and really makes my eyes stand out without giving off that "bruised" look. Though, if you're into that, Nocturnelle would be a good color for it. I have this in pro-pan form because it's in my daily repetoire, and I will likely purchase it again.

Skincare - Body -Weleda - Nappy change cream
wildflower85 8/17/2011 12:21:00 PM
I am just reviewing this product as a diaper cream (I guess I'll have to try it's other benefits too...especially since I won't be using it on my baby!). I tried this cream in an effort to help my daughter's first rash, and it did absolutely nothing for it. It wears off almost immediately, and provides little to no protection from moisture. If you want a diaper cream that works, just buy some plain zinc oxide, it works wonders. The only reason I give this product 2 lippies is because it smells so damn good. On a side note, since I switched to cloth diapers, my little one has not had any rashes, so (of course) I would suggest cloth diapering for a particularly sensitive baby. No worries though, I don't judge cloth diaperers vs. disposables!

Polishes -Essie - Smooth Sailing
wildflower85 8/17/2011 12:12:00 PM
I bought this baby when it first came out, and just put it on as a pedi a week and a half ago to see how well it wears. Just one coat on my toes and it's totally opaque. After all this time, I still don't have chips, and I tend to be hard on my feet, so that's definitely a good sign. I would wear this one again! The blue is quite reminiscent of periwinkles, so would be a great spring color too, and the sparkles add just a touch of shimmer to the overall mani or pedi to make it interesting and striking. Buy it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Expensive Pink (Veluxe Pearl)
wildflower85 6/23/2011 1:06:00 AM
My favorite eyeshadow. Period. There's nothing to compare to this with green eyes. It's really not very pink on my skin (NW20), and looks mostly coppery with a hint of peach. Paired with Retrospeck in the crease, it creates a flawless look that's noticeable, but classic, pretty, and understated. This is a daily e/s for me, and therefore I shall need to buy again! I have not had it fade on me, and I tend to wear it all day. It can crease, but just slightly, with a primer.

Polishes -Orly - Bubbly Bombshell
wildflower85 5/30/2011 1:52:00 PM
I am fond of this nail polish, but was disappointed with its application. Unlike many of the dense glitters that have become popular (made by Zoya and OPI), Bubbly Bombshell doesn't totally cover the nail, even with three coats! The odd shape of the glitter also makes it near impossible to get good tip coverage, and makes one's nails look chipped immediately after application. Also, clean-up is a b*tch. Next time I use this polish I will definitely put a similar-toned nail color underneath so it doesn't look all chipped and gross. Any good-quality fuchsia would do. Annoyed, since I was hoping for another good coverage, dense glitter like Zoya's Luna and Astra. Probably wouldn't rebuy.

Polishes -Zoya - Zara
wildflower85 5/22/2011 10:32:00 PM
Awesome color. Purple with gold shimmer, that really shines in the sun. Like most Zoyas, the application is smooth and easy. Opaque in 3 coats, but I like it lighter and shimmery in 2. Great color, though it wouldn't look fab on everyone. It's a cool-ish purple, while the gold seems to make it a bit warmer. I think if I were more tan it would look a little washed out, but as is, it's very attractive.

Shampoo -Rusk - Clarify Shampoo
wildflower85 5/22/2011 10:17:00 PM
The best shampoo I've ever used. I can always rely on this to clear out build-up in my hair left by other shampoos and conditioners. Not only does this shampoo do what it says it does, it smells good/clean/refreshing, and isn't harsh at all. Sometimes I simply need a hair "detox," and this is the perfect solution. Not terribly expensive as far as salon shampoos go. I will definitely buy again.

Shampoo -Nature's Gate - Jojoba Shampoo
wildflower85 5/22/2011 1:29:00 PM
Worst. Shampoo. Ever. I bought this in one more effort to find a satisfactory, more "natural" shampoo I could use. Well, that sure didn't work. This shampoo does not clean my hair. At this point, I've been using it for three days (I have to wash my hair everyday), and my hair looks and feels like it hasn't been cleaned in three days. It's oily, feels heavy, and just looks gross. The only reason this shampoo gets 2 and not 1 lippie is because it smells good. That's it. I will never buy this again.
