Brows -E.L.F. - Eyebrow Kit
rated 5 of 5

Absolutely love this kit! Small and compact and works so well! Bought one to try it out and am hooked. I use my own slanted eyebrow brush instead of the included one, but for $3 this is an absolutely amazing product! I get compliments on my brows all the time!

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick
rated 5 of 5

Have only worn this lipstick twice now, but I have to say I'm kind of in love with it. Of course the 24-hour claim is just silly, but I wore it at work and completely forgot about it for about 5 hours. Freaking out that my lips look faded (or I have that really awkward thick lip-liner look) I ran into the bathroom to look in the mirror. To my shock, my lips looked perfect! Didn't even need to reapply! Did touch up after eating lunch, but that's expected. Will definitely buy again!

Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm
rated 3 of 5
westwoodbarbie 10/3/2011 12:51:00 PM

No way this actually stays on for 8 hours like they say. Maybe I'm more of a lip-licker than intended for the product, but I think expecting it to stay for 8 hours is just silly. That said, I can expect to not worry about my lips for about 4 hours. I get a nice pink color on my lips and I really enjoy the way it looks. I'll definitely buy again.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals Foundation #2
rated 5 of 5
westwoodbarbie 7/26/2009 12:21:00 PM

I am a complete convert! I don't think I could use any other foundation ever again! It looks completely natural (unless you accidentally put too much on) and I am utterly amazed by how well it covers! Ever since I got this product, I've been using so much less concealer - only on the occasional breakouts and under my eyes. Everything else, the bare minerals covers. And when I say "everything else," in my case that means A LOT. I have mild rosacea and it's been a plague on my skin-care routine for years. This foundation covers it - until almost practically unnoticeable. I haven't had any breakouts that appear to be caused by the makeup and it's my absolute HG foundation. As for its staying power - I work in an outdoor restaurant where I'm running around like mad for 8-9 hours daily. I never have to worry about reapplying or needing to touch up. I highly recommend for anyone to try this! However, I don't like their starter kit. I find their brushes to be pretty useless. I use my MAC kabuki brush and absolutely love the results I get! Can't wait to try more of their products - I've heard really good things about the lip gloss!

Moisturizers -Jason Natural Cosmetics - 5000 I.U. Vitamin E Revitalizing Moisturizing Creme
rated 4 of 5
westwoodbarbie 7/26/2009 12:15:00 PM

I bought this after my immense success with the intensive hydrating butter cream (in a similar packaging). I decided to try this one since I know Vitamin E has a good reputation for hydrating and brightening skin tone. I was very disappointed with this one though. It's incredibly sticky and seems to refuse to absorb into my skin. I've taken to only using it at night because I can't even hope to get makeup or sunscreen on top of this moisturizer. I think I'll buy the one I liked before and mix small amounts of this one in just to use it up. UPDATE: So, the stickiness and slow absorption still applies, but for now I had to change my rating from a 3 to a 4 because a few days ago I realized that my skin looks better than it has in months... the difference? This cream. My skin really looks very hydrated and glowing. I'll test a little more, but my rating even might be going to a 5.

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - Fire (Pure Reflection)
rated 3 of 5

Here's my dilemma with this lipstick. I love the color! I have pretty fair skin and it goes very well without looking too fake. But oy the sparkles! I feel like a pre-teen with a 'my first makeup kit' lipstick glittering on my lips!

Treatments -Exuviance - Vespera Bionic Serum
rated 4 of 5
westwoodbarbie 7/26/2009 12:08:00 PM

I really liked this serum, and am somewhat surprised by the negative comments below mine. I used mine a while ago and my skin felt smoother and more hydrated. The bottle is expensive, but you can hunt on the internet. I actually got an unopened bottle in the original box on eBay. It can be a little sticky, but that can be relieved by just using less of the product at one time. the dropper application was very easy to use. If you need hydration, this might be a great product for you.

Eyeliner -Smashbox - Jet Set Eyeliner with Brush
rated 5 of 5
westwoodbarbie 1/15/2009 1:30:00 PM

Can't possibly say enough good things! Make sure to get the brush - totally worth it. Little shameless money-saving trick, opt for the sephora version of the brush, it works really well and will save you a few bucks. Once you get used to the brush you'll be absolutely hooked, it looks amazing and lasts ALL DAY. I almost can't believe it. I have it in brown and it brings out my blue eyes so well, I get compliments daily!

Brows -Unlisted Brand - Billion Dollar Brows - Brow Powder, Blonde
rated 5 of 5
westwoodbarbie 1/15/2009 1:26:00 PM

I finally spoiled myself one day and got my eye brows professionally shaped (at a Beverly Hills Salon no less! I felt like a princess for 15 minutes, albeit one with rather sore eyebrows after the waxing and tweezing). My stylist did an amazing job but what really made the difference was this brow powder she used on me. Now I've been darkening my eyebrows with a brow pencil for a while, but the powder worked miracles. It's a lighter color than my eyebrows (which is the way you're supposed to go) but it blends in and fills in my eyebrows and defines them (I highly recommend their brush too) so well! I got it in the store for $15. Not too bad, and I think using the powder might even salvage my own tweezing attempts since I can't exactly afford a $40 wax every other week.

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - Lip Enhancing Gloss in Fame
rated 5 of 5
westwoodbarbie 8/13/2008 4:53:00 PM

I am absolutely in love with this lip gloss! I was playing around in Sephora contemplating buying the new Smashbox O Gloss. I tried it out and really loved the color that came out, it was pink but not too pink, just the perfect pink color! Then I looked at the wide variety of lipglosses Smashbox had also and decided to see if I could save $4 and get a little more lipgloss by trying to find the most similar pink among their collection. I found this - Fame. As for the color - it's a soothing pink color, playful pink but not obnoxious. I will comfortably wear it to the mall or the beach as well as a fancy dinner at a 5-star restaurant. Great color! Wearability - this lipgloss feels great on my lips! I've tried a couple that just felt grainy or too liquidy, this one's perfect. Stays on, too! Won't exactly claim to stay on for 8 hours through anything, but it does stay on. Overall, I love this lipgloss! I highly recommend it. Though, I will suggest going to sephora and trying them out because after all this is a pretty bright pink which means it won't work for everybody.

Styling Products -Nexxus - Versastyler
rated 5 of 5
westwoodbarbie 5/26/2008 9:42:00 PM

I am absolutely in love with this product! This is the holy grail of versatility, I've used it with my flat iron, with my curling iron, and even with my hairdryer to style my bangs. With my curling iron, it creates beautiful waves that don't fall and don't frizz. I've even brushed it out post-curl for very soft waves and it holds and makes my hair look beautiful! With my flat iron, it keeps my hair straight, and helps control my unruly bangs. One of my favorite features of this product is as a scrunch-holder. I've tried serums and hair sprays and mousse and holding sprays and a bunch of stuff to scrunch my hair and this is the only stuff that's worked. I personally love the liquidy consistency, I find that it makes it easier to distribute evenly through my hair and it washes off my hands pretty easily, after one wash. Basically, I've been completely in love with this product since the first time I used it and I have yet to have a bad experience with it!

Treatments -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
westwoodbarbie 4/20/2008 11:52:00 PM

I used this product religiously for over 2 months, and I mean religiously. It did absolutely nothing. I will, however, say that it did not dry out my skin at all, the "hydrating" portion of the product name is true enough - I was pleasantly surprised. But it did absolutely nothing to even come close to improving my acne. One night of tea tree oil did better than 2 months of this stuff did.

Eye Shadow -Physicians Formula - Shimmer strips custom eye enhancing shadow & liner
rated 3 of 5
westwoodbarbie 4/20/2008 11:40:00 PM

I was very excited to find this because I love that they have 3 different looks in one compact. I bought the one for blue eyes and it has shades of blue for one look, nude brown shades for another, and silvers as the third. I absolutely hate to blues, the pigment is way too strong for me. The colors, in my opinion, are too bright and will hardly function to serve the purpose they're supposed to. The nude/browns are the ones I use the most, I like these although the pigment is lacking in these. The silvers are a great idea for an evening look, but again the pigment is lacking on these, and this is where it really makes a difference. I completely hate the packaging, it's so bulky! The brush also doesn't seem to function properly for me. It seems every makeup line is jumping on the "enhance your natural eye-color" bandwagon. Don't get me wrong, I love the Physician's Formula line as a whole, but this palette is a miss for me. My advice to bring out blue eyes: The blue shades never seemed to look good on me, they just look awkward, like an 8th-grader learning to wear makeup for the first time and just splashing her face with bright eyeshadow. I love coffee shades for the day and silvers for the evening. I have a well pigmented blue eyeliner and I light the inside part of my eyes with it for both the coffee day makeup and silver for the night. It makes my eyes pop and the blue is subtle but really brings out the color.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - one-step gentle cleanser
rated 4 of 5
westwoodbarbie 4/20/2008 11:30:00 PM

This is a pretty good cleanser, it leaves my skin feeling clean and doesn't dry it out. It also removes stubborn mascara and concealer pretty well. My HG makeup remover is the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil and I would recommend it over this, but I would maybe consider repurchasing for days when I wear very light makeup to stretch my DHC Oil for longer since this is significantly less pricy. Meh on the scent, not a huge fan of that

Cleansers -Clinique - Rinse-off foaming cleanser
rated 2 of 5
westwoodbarbie 4/20/2008 11:19:00 PM

I received this cleanser as a GWP (after buying my supermoisture foundation which I can't say enough good things about). I usually really trust Clinique to be very gentle on my dry skin but this was just too harsh. I have no doubts that it removed all traces of the makeup on my skin because my face feels so dry after using it it's almost painful, I cringe to even imagine following it with another cleanser. Clinique makes a foam version of this cleanser which is supposed to be much gentler but I haven't tried it yet. My other huge concern: I was really hoping that it would do well on removing my eye makeup (which I don't think I recommend considering how drying it is) but it didn't do very well on that it all - left tons of mascara all over my eyes (and it wasn't even the waterproof mascara). My HG makeup remover is still the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil - it removes all traces of makeup, including absolutely all eye makeup, and leaves my skin feeling great, I highly recommend it over this drying Clinique cleanser. The pro - this is the reason for 2 lippies instead of 1. If this cleanser does suit your skin, a tiny bit goes a long way. Just about a dollop the size of 1/2 a pea will lather up to cleanse your whole face, this stuff will last you forever.
