Love this, I too was a big fan of OPI/Essie, but I have been exclusively buying Revlon for a few months now. This red coral color looks perfect with my warm tan skin tone (NC 35, South Asian). I'm just a bit disappointed that I got this close to the end of the summer thus I could not fully utilize it! Perfect pedicure color, love it on my hands as well. Definitely check out Revlon's nail polish, all you really need is a good top coat like seche vite, and your polish will last a decent amount of time.
This is exactly what I was looking for. After falling in love with YSL touche eclat in #3, and using it on my eyelids, I realized I would run out really fast if I was using it on my whole eye area, nose, and edges of my lips. So I went ahead and bought this for my eyelids and outer edges. I feel that my eyes are deep set, but still not small, which creates a lot of shadows in my eye area. Also I have natural darkness in my eye lids. I just dab the applicator on the back of my hand and dab the products on to my lids to brow area, along with the outer edges. I really enjoy it, adds to a more polished look, but still stays completely natural. I think it's a little thick to use all over like YSL TE, but I'm really enjoying this for every day. I'm South Asian, about NC35-40 in MAC, GA FF #4, Dior TM #3.
My favorite cleanser to date! I really did not expect anything from this one, as I stopped buying department store brand cleansers a few years ago, when I realized that none of the lines were giving me the results I wanted. Anyhow, I got this one passed on from my mum (with an EL one too), since she was not really enjoying them. My skin is problematic, it has been acne prone for years and has final calmed down, but it is still very sensitive and is proned to clogs, dryness and flakiness. All you need is a bit of this and warm water, like another reviewer mentioned. It foams up so luxuriously, cleanses gently yet very effectively, and leaves your skin feeling so balanced and clean. There is no stripped or dry feeling after this cleanser. While using this cleanser, I noticed my face was clearer. There is a scent, but my skin did not react to it. I really love this cleanser, enough to purchase it for myself when I run out!
The purpose I bought this powder foundation was as a quick and easy makeup base in the mornings. However, I can not really use it as that, as it looks powdery and cakey and overall fake no matter how I use it. My Chanel MA has been pressuring to buy this and I finally caved, when she applied it, the looks was always a natural semi matte coverage. However, when I start using this at home, it was anything but. Firstoff, I bought this while on vacation, this is called Mat Lumiere from what I understand in Canada, and the shading colors are different. I bought this in a busy counter but the SA matched me about 3-4 shades darker, and I did not notice in the lighting. Anyhow, that has nothing to do with my rating of this powder. I have tried applying this with the sponge provided, the look is heavy, cakey and dry. With a skunk brush it always looks too powdery. With a powder brush, it always applies cakey and powdery as well! On thing it does do well is last, as well as covering out redness, in a natural way, but this did not make my skin look better. So as a end result, I gave up on this product to be my base. Anyways, I wondered why when the SA applied it, my skin looked so good. I realized it was my Dior tinted moisturizer, that I was wearing every time, and with this applied on top. So now I use this as a setting powder or touch up powder after my TM with a big fluffy powder brush, and it serves that purpose well, as I still have a decent tan. I also have used it to contour. As a foundation, this was a one star product for me, not bad as a powder though. Would not repurchase, disappointed that I wasted money on this.
Lotions/ Creams -Giovanni - Lavender Vanilla Snow Hydrate Body Lotion
werewolfbarmitzvah 8/21/2009 3:36:00 PM
I found this Giovanni product lackluster. The lotion, although it feels rich does not really provide that much moisture, I'm not even that dry skin to begin with and it's the summer right now! The scent is a powdery vanilla, it smells like marshmallows to me. I have not experienced any irritation due to this. It just doesn't do that much for me. I would have loved to love this as it is an environmentally friendly company, with great packaging and it also does not test on animals. It's worth a try if you can find it on sale though.
Gels/Soaps -Giovanni - Grapefruit Sky Cleanse Body Wash
werewolfbarmitzvah 8/21/2009 3:28:00 PM
Giovanni is a company I'm attracted too, environmentally friendly, and minimalistic contemporary packaging! I have tried quite a few products from the line but this is my first body wash. The scent is a fun playful fruity grapefruit scent, I can really smell the pomegranate coming out, I don't notice the grapefruit citrus part of it too much. This is perfect after a workout or a jog. This is very fragranced and the scent does linger on the skin after. I also never experienced any irritation on my skin due to this product. One of the cons is that I really feel like I need a lot of product to clean my whole body, usually you only need a squeeze, but I need two very generous squeezes of this gel. I love the tall slim packaging of this as it takes up minimal space in shower. Overall this an okay shower gel, with a refreshing summer scent, but I would not repurchase it.
I love this scent, I'm generally not to big on citrus scents but I have been trying them a lot more lately with the summer. This is a nice warm citrus scent, due to the cinnamon. It smells like a richer version of TBS satsuma imo. Quality is great for being much cheaper than the regular korres line. These are non irritating, no breakouts and rashes experienced with these. Lathers really well, and works well with exfoliating gloves. Packaging gets an A+ as well, very contemporary and the brief historical blurbs are a cute idea. The scent alone is very unique for a citrus scent, highly recommended. My favorite from the ones I have tried so far.
Lip Gloss -Chanel - Aqualumiere gloss Ironic Tonic
werewolfbarmitzvah 8/21/2009 3:09:00 PM
Seriously, Chanel lip glosses are an addiction, you just can't go back to other brands after you start using these, especially the aqualumieres! This is another great shade, a warm plum berry, that has gold microshimmer. It goes on sheer, this a really good color for South Asian ladies in general, it gives me a mlbb look, as I have berry toned pigmented lips. NC35-37. These glosses feel so pleasant on your lips, no heavy, sticky feeling. They feel smooth and light on the lips and give the perfect shine. They are true love, except for the price!
Treatments -Kiehls - Leave-in Conditioner [DISCONTINUED]
werewolfbarmitzvah 8/21/2009 3:03:00 PM
Amazing, I have been looking into buying this for years and I gave in when someone mentioned on the hair board that it is going to be discontinued. I have long, wavy/curly, frizz prone poofy hair. Most other products leave my hair poofy and wavy, but this helps keep it manageable, frizzy, healthy looking and curly. I 100% recommend this product, the beauty is that you only need a tiny amount in damp hair, which I then follow up with serum, and let air dry, great hair day every time. This was almost $30 for the small bottle in Canada, but I will repurchase if it is still available.
After a disastrous account with the Normaderm cleanser, I was reluctant to try another Vichy cleanser again, but this stuff is really nice. I don't see the point of using a wash off cleanser in the morning, so I usually use a soothing toner or a no wash cleanser. This just requires a bit of product, and it's enough for my whole face. This has not irritated or dried out my skin at all. I think my skin has been clearer since using this. I did use this to remove my eye makeup a few times, but it has stung, so I will stick to Chanel or Clinique eye makeup removers for that. But overall this is a great buy, I got this for about $13 on sale, can be used in the mornings or for makeup removal on face in the night prior to cleansing.
This is a standard cleanser that effectively removes my makeup. I have sensitive acne prone skin and it has done nothing to aggravate it. It doesn't dry my skin out either. I don't think I would repurchase because I'm fine with using drugstore cleansers like Neutrogena fresh foaming, this does nothing special, so no point of spending the extra $ on it.
I used the DDF glycolic toner prior to this and experienced good results with it. This one is better in that, it does not sting my face like the DDF did. In general the results have been the same, where it is helping clear up my complexion, and making my skin more uniform looking post accutane. It basically just picked up from when I finished the DDF toner, the scars are getting lighter and my breakouts have been reduced (this one has been better than ddf in this respect). I just feel this toner is more gentle and effective than the DDF, though it is a smaller size, priced cheaper, but I think it works out to be more $$ per ml in the end. The only downside of using the glycolic acid products is that it seems you have to keep on using them to keep up with your results. When I stop using them my skin starts breaking out, and gets flaky and more clogged again.
Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lipstick in 'Pinkberry'
werewolfbarmitzvah 7/30/2009 10:25:00 PM
This lipstick has a very rich formula, and provides a creme finish. The color itself is a pale mauvy nude pink color. I get pretty tan in the summer and this is a flattering nude color on my skin. Nice lipstick color, that looks rich on. I usually like more pigmented colors but this is nice for a change.
Moisturizers -L'Occitane - Organic Olive Moisturising Face Lotion
werewolfbarmitzvah 7/12/2009 11:07:00 PM
Save your money, in Canada this costs $42 for 30ml, and I'm sure it is still $$ in other countries. This moisturizer is just not special, it is decent but there is an ample amount of moisturizers that perform on the market that are much cheaper. It is light and absorbs quickly, and the texture is quite nice, and it moisturizes well. But the scent is left to be desired imo, maybe I'm just used to all the artificial "clean" scented products, but this smells REALLY earthy, like mud. I tended to find it strong for at least 30 minutes. I did not notice my skin to be more radiant, this was just a standard moisturizer. I did not experience any particular irritation to this, and I'm sensitive and acne prone.
First off, this is probably the most $$$ moisturizer I have ever tried, it is $58 (CND). The scent is absolutely delicious, a delicate creamy almond scent. It also moisturizes very nicely since it is so rich and yet light, you can feel why it is expensive. I didn't really get a tighten and tone effect, but maybe with continuous use you would? The packaging also looks awesome on your countertop. This would make a great gift, as I think anyone would really appreciate this since it is an indulgence. I definitely don't think it feasible for me to buy this on a regular basis since it seems to run out pretty fast with regular use.
