Lip Treatments -DuWop - Pure Venom Plumping Lip Stain - Pure Berry
rated 4 of 5
wendi6716 11/18/2008 12:41:00 AM

LOVE the natural color HATE the overprice factor. you want plumping? Fusion XL overnight treatment-that is the plumping answer. this? not so plump. that said - it did stain . it is pricey, i hate hate hate the tin and having to apply it with my finger (um, cuz its a STAIN). and yes, i could carry a lip brush, but i don't. all that said, i feel more love than hate for this. it is a VERY pretty "maybe i've just come in from the cold, maybe i've had a glass of wine, or maybe i've been making out with the mailboy" kind of shade, and it goes on evenly and is also relatively non-drying for a stain. got money to burn and/or a deep desire for a YLBB long lasting look without lipstick? buy it. and if you've tried it and know of a cheaper way to get this kind of natural berry stain -please review this and give the substitute immediately -cuz sheesh, its pricey. oh -also points for it NOT turning fuschia, as many berry stains do on darker skinned gals (my half-asian heritage is to blame for the fuschia curse -but my other ethnic skinned friends -hispanic, african american, etc - also suffer from promisingly lovely berry colors turning fuschia on them in 20 minutes, so i think it happens to any and all who are a bit melanin advantaged). this, ont he other hand, goes on berry and stays berry. for hours. hmm, which is making me mind the pricetag a wee bit less now that i think of it. . .

Lip Treatments -Nivea - A Kiss of Flavor Cherry
rated 5 of 5
wendi6716 11/1/2008 1:14:00 PM

This is everything you always wanted cherry chapstick to be when you were a little girl- but alas, it never was. Nivea's kiss of flavor cherry is moisturizing, light (a little waxy - but come on, its a stick balm), and leaves a sweet 'i just ate a cherry popsicle' stain. the color is flattering and pretty and natural -not MLBB natural but kind of an innocent flush natural. not to mention, cheap as dirt. love love *love* i'm a lipstain girl and this makes me extremely happy. it is not stainlike in lasting power , but in look . its also a cinch to reapply, and instead of drying, is good for your lips! it is perhaps the most joy i've gotten out of an under $3 drugstore purchase ever. trust me, you want this.

Lip Treatments -Sally Hansen - Volumizing Lip Shield With SPF 15 - Just Swell
rated 4 of 5
wendi6716 4/27/2008 3:04:00 PM

a nice lip balm with SPF 15. the packaging is slender, like Clinique's almost lipstick. the product is moist and has a slanted tip. did it volumize? maybe a little, but not much. however, it is just the right amount of moisture plus SPF protection. nice. i got the 'just swell' and one of the colored ones in a 2-for-1 package at Ulta. like them both, though prefer the 'just swell' . anyway, i think the name of the colored one was 'fanci full' or some such and it would probably look nicer on someone fairer with pinker tones to the skin. i'm asian, so the colored one wasn''t so great - but the 'just swell' transparent one i would definitely buy again.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - Vive Pro Glossy Volume Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
wendi6716 4/27/2008 2:58:00 PM

meh i too got sucked in by the notion of volume + gloss. i didn't see much increase in either. nothing wrong with it, per se, it is a shampoo and conditioner and it acts as a shampoo and conditioner. smells fine, cleans your hair, conditioner doesn't seem to weigh hair down -but it was little different from any other shampoo and conditioner combo for volume. for me, the most noticable shine + volume comes from the brilliant brunette volumizing line -when i use that, i can see a difference. this? don't waste your money (not that its a lot of money to waste -but still, any waste of money is a waste). am bitter i boguth this cmombo instead of just restocknig the brilliant brunette combo. to the back of the closet it will go -and i'll be running out to the drugstore now to pick up some more brilliant brunette volumizing

Blush -Smashbox - Skin Tint in Smashing Infrared
rated 5 of 5
wendi6716 2/4/2008 11:47:00 AM

love love love! great totally natural color . i look like i'm naturally healthily flushed from activity - like i've just finished a run, or a yoga class, or um, more horizontal active pursuits. lovely. plus, i love it as a lipstain - it wears perfectly evenly and gives your lips a lovely natural looking "bitten" flush. finally, i cannot imagine EVER running out -because it takes such a tiny amount to get realistic healthy natural color . my new HG blush and lipstain. oh! and it hasn't broken me out . love love *love*

Moisturizers -Olay - Definity Deep Penetrating Foaming Moisturizer
rated 1 of 5
wendi6716 2/4/2008 11:40:00 AM

i wanted to love this. i was prepared to love this. i seemed the perfect demographic for this - am 39 with sun damage/spots, only need a light moisturizer, etc. alas, i hated this. it never absorbed fully into my skin (no matter how little i used it left a waxy/unpleasant coating on my skin). worse, within 4 days, it broke me out, horribly and it took me almost 3 weeks to get my skin back to normal. now i have even MORE discoloration than before. thanks olay, not only for failing to reduce my sun damage - but for adding scars. oh, and a high price to boot. i mean, i don't mind paying $20 (or more) for a moisturizer or treatment that's great - but for this drugstore "breakout in mousse form" i think not!

Lip Gloss -Sally Hansen - Diamond Lip Treatment in Honeymoon Red
rated 5 of 5
wendi6716 12/23/2007 8:01:00 PM

Like all Diamond Lip glosses, this is an extremely sheer color. That said, if your'e looking for a sheer true red gloss (I was), this could be for you. I love the diamond glosses -have the ever-fabulous neutral ylbb royal romance, as well as the "just bitten" always ascher. when i saw hneymoon red, i thought it might give that "in from the cold" reddish-pink lip -and it did :) happy happy -and so cheap! i would take a lippie off for staying power (almost none), but then, for lipgloss this cheap-i'll reapply.

Lip Gloss -Burt's Bees - Burts Bees Lip Shimmers
rated 1 of 5
wendi6716 12/10/2007 11:45:00 PM

in general i love BBs lip balms-even the MUAreviled honey one. that said, i HATED these. waaaaay too shimmery (like metallic paint) and opaque and worst of all -DRYING every lip wrinkle showed, even those i had no idea i had -i think this product may have creatively invented some new lip wrinkles, just for fun. tried it in papaya and raisin. both horrid horrid horrid ugh.

Lip Treatments -Fusion Beauty - LipFusion XL 2X Micro-Injected Collagen and HA Lip Plumping Therapy
rated 5 of 5
wendi6716 12/10/2007 10:56:00 PM

this is an INSANELY expensive, yet sadly HG product for me (sadly only because of the insanely expensive part) i liked the 'normal' lip fusion fine, but this stuff really kicks it up a notch. use it every night as a bedtime treatment, drink your water (heck, drink your water anyway, its healthy) and at some point within, oh 10 days or so, the angelina jolie lip fairy will come while you are sleeping and plant some big full lips on ya. no, really. the tooth fairy has got nuthin on the angelina jolie lip fairy -although if she'd leave money under my pillow so i could afford more of this, that'd be even better.

Lotions/ Creams -Soap and Glory - The Righteous Butter
rated 5 of 5
wendi6716 12/9/2007 9:20:00 PM

so -long long ago i was a huge fan of Benefit's "touch me and then try to leave" cream. BUT - i don't really have dry skin and couldn't justify spending alot on something that wasn't a 'need' but merely a 'want' for the way it sunk into my skin, smelled luscious, and made me soft. Enter Soap & Glory's righteous butter. This is CLEARLY a knockoff of "touch me and then try to leave"-and its a successful knockoff at that. It too smells good, sinks right in, makes me soft -all for pennies at Target. All hail Target. *sigh*

Scrubs -Philosophy - Amazing Grace Olive Oil Scrub
rated 3 of 5
wendi6716 12/9/2007 9:04:00 PM

I received this in a kit and although i love the smell -its not scrubby enough. I use it as directed - on dry skin before the shower -and it exfoliates a tiny bit, moisturizes alot, and smells good, then rinses away. NOT what i'm looking for in a scrub. Definitely not my HG, merely pleasant at best. Sadly, also expensive

Lips -NARS - Lip Stain Gloss in Indian Red
rated 5 of 5
wendi6716 11/21/2007 8:59:00 AM

This review is for the new lip stain/gloss duo in indian red + moonfleet. As other reviewers have mentioned, indian red is a perfect, warm red lipstain that can be worn subtle or bold. Moonfleet is a clear gloss with tiny gold flecks (not glitter, just subtle sparkle). The two together are AMAZING. I use lip balm, wipe it off, then use the stain as a stain (tiny amount on lips, rub in, blot), then layer a tiny amount of moon fleet on top. You get what looks like naturally flushed lips with a bit of shimmer -gorgeous. PLUS - you need such teeny amounts, it will last a long time making the price ultimately less expensive. It wears off when you eat or drink -but fortunately, wears off rather evenly.

Skincare - Body -Avon - Bust-Sculpt
rated 4 of 5
wendi6716 11/17/2007 10:52:00 AM

Am a 34DD and sagging . Hoped this would help -and it didn't with the sagging, but it did make the girls a bit 'firmer.' I'm givnig it 4 stars because the change in firmness is noticeable but not 5 stars because it is extremely subtle -so subtle that you may be the onyl one who notices it on yourself :) It firms, but does not do anything for sagging (at least for me). Firmer but not perkier is ok, but not great

Lotions/ Creams -Avon - ANEW CLINICAL Lift and Tuck Professional Body Shaper
rated 5 of 5
wendi6716 11/17/2007 10:47:00 AM

Surprisingly, this stuff works REALLY well. I never would have purchased it (given how I have tried other, body sculpting creams that did nothing) BUT after readnig the reviews I tried it. I'm 39 and have started gettnig that horrific age related thickening at the waist -every bit of fat seems to gather there for me. Anyway, diet + exercise = ok , but diet + exercise + this stuff appied twice a day = WOW. I lost 2 inches in my waist after adding this into my regimen. Seriously. Its kind of creepy because i don't know WHY it works. If i had to guess mechanism, i know other waaaaay more expensive creams (like the ones form Bliss spa) work because the active ingredients release a bit of fat from the layer beneath the skin - BUT -then you have to burn it off or it comes home to roost. In other words, i think this may help with the ever elusive "spot reduction" idea as well as skin tightening. Whatever. I don't really care, I"m just happy it works. Note: I don't work for Avon and indeed, don't like many of their products (sorry avon) but this one is a WINNER
