Lip Gloss -By Terry - Laque de Rose
waterlily26 3/15/2008 12:05:00 AM
Absolutely the BEST lipgloss if what u want is something that will actually moisturise your lips, will not cake in lines(for those my age,Im talking about flaky lips!),yet smell heavenly of roses! I have this in shade rose peche, which is a stunning rose-pink color,is almost like my natural lip color but just slightly pinkier so it lifts the look and make me look radiant.Far better than the nude look IMO. Hands down the BEST lip treatment and gloss in one, although it being totally non-sticky,it is more of a sheen and doesn't last as long as some lipglosses do.However, the moisture certainly last and I can't recommend this enough!!!

Treatments -Paul & Joe - Serum
waterlily26 2/17/2008 9:16:00 PM
Does exactly what it says, hydrates wonderfully yet very light.Great for combination/sensitive/acne-prone skin like mine. However,if you have sensitivity to citrus extracts, stay away as the whole Paul&Joe skincare line has them.

Cleansers -L'Occitane - Honey Floral Cleansing Jelly
waterlily26 1/27/2008 2:45:00 PM
Had high hopes for this but it failed to live to any sort of expectation. Yes indeed it is very gentle, but the fluid texture makes it very difficult to control and I found the scent too sickly sweet(much more overpowering than the honey mask etc.) My skin didn't look the usual bright after cleansing which makes its cleansing power questionable.I also felt a little bit tight afterwards that I needed to moisturise quickly. All in all,I much prefer the Nuxe facial cleansing gel which is STILL my HG! I'm just so glad and reliefed that I got this for half price in the sale, now I use it as a pre-face-cleansing hand wash^_^

Toners -Elemis - Rehydrating Ginseng toner
waterlily26 1/27/2008 2:28:00 PM
This is a really good toner!Nothing AMAZING but then you shouldn't expect a toner to do anything more than remove the residue from cleansers, refresh and lightly rehydrate. This achieves all of above by a mile!I do the whole 'Dr.Hauschka' idea of not using night creams so sometimes after cleansing,I just spray this on and go to bed:-) The only reason I didn't give it 5 is b/c it occasionally sting and for the ingredients in it it is slightly over-priced.

Cleansers -Nuxe - REVE DE MIEL Face Gentle Cleansing Gel
waterlily26 12/5/2007 8:56:00 AM
My HG cleanser!I'm on my 2nd bottle and that says a lot--probably the only product I have repurchased myself! This smells lush(honey sweet, but not sickly),doesn't foam(which I actually like, but will take a while to get used to for anybody) and leaves my skin clean but not at all dry! It is not cheap but very reasonable given that a bottle last me about 5 months(also I wash my hands with it before washing my face),the pump packaging is really great too. I LOVE LOVE it!For once in my life,I'm sticking with this one!:-)

Lotions/ Creams -Avene - Akerat body care cream
waterlily26 11/25/2007 7:39:00 AM
I have always had those red chicken-like bumps on the back of my arms and legs. They have been diagnosed as 'keratosis' and I have been given many treatments over the years to try, namely Retino-A lotion and pastes comtaining salicylic acid etc.No need to guess for whether they worked lol! Anyway, when I came across this one day,I just had to get it!It is the first and only product I have seen so far that has 'keratosis' written on it (until I saw Dermadoctor etc.) and one of the very few products that targets this kind of skin.I didn't know what to expect but I have to say Im disappointed. The texture of this cream is quite rich and doesn't absorb into the skin easily, you are left with a greasy or shall I say,'protected' film so pls only apply this where you need it.It does smooth out the skin and make the keratosis look less obvious, but it is only temporary and this can also be achieved by simply a good body lotion. It did not help with it long-term-wise whatsoever.I had a look at the ingredients,it contains lactic acid and glycolic acid,I think the idea is that exfoliate the skin so that the 'keratosis-prone' area will be smoothed out and looks less red.Unfortunately it does not work for some reason. I might be trying out KP duty by Dermadoctor next but the sky-high price put me off and the ingredients seem to be too standard(and very similar to those of Avene) for it to work.I suggest if you are really conscious of your 'keratosis',then use some a cover-up like a body foundation(MUF face&body foundation works fine for me).

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Spices Quadra
waterlily26 8/22/2007 5:52:00 PM
I have to say,I was shocked to see the rave reviews!I am not trying to stand out here but the minute I got my hands on the Chanel quadre eyeshadow,I was so disappointed! For a start, all the eye colors have a very dry powdery texture,as opposed to smooth and creamy, they are so sheer and it is even more difficult given that the sponge does not seem to absorb all the colors! In terms of a neutral palette,it is also too shimmery. The staying power is not nearly as good as some claims,I have a normal eyelid(not dry,not oily) but it creases on me in a couple of hours. The eye colors also tend to go everywhere and gets the compact really dirty-looking. I like the sleek black Chanel packaging but that will in no way tempt me to buy it again. This is probably the worst eyeshadow(s) I have ever tried!

Lotions/ Creams -Crabtree & Evelyn - Naturals In-Shower Moisturizer--Olive,Avocado&Basil
waterlily26 8/4/2007 9:30:00 PM
This is AMAZING stuff! I have to be honest,I never really took notice of the C&E naturals range,I thought it was just another gimmicky product cash-in on the 'natural' point--until I got this in a swap! This is like a body rinse, after showering, put this on dry skin(it didn't say on the product but I assume so since it will just be diluted used on damp skin)and then rinse it off lightly. It reminds me of LUSH body conditioner bars but sooo much better, because this is of a cream texture and there is absolute NO oiliness afterwards! When you wash it off,the moisture from the mango butter etc. just totally gets absorbed onto the skin so it becomes yours!Unlike a lot of body lotions that either sits on the skin or form a light layer/film on the skin.Normally,I came out of the shower with dry/flaky skin on some areas of my body but it is all gone.I'm left with smooth and soft skin, but still shower-fresh and clean! I was worried initially that I wasn't going to like the scent,I usually run a mile when I hear words like 'avocado' or 'basil' but it turns out to be a great scent! It is very subtle, has a slightly grassy note to it(I'm terrible at describing scents!) It is towards the expensive side in terms of a 'body lotion' but considering it has all natural ingredients,I can happily live with that:-P You MUST try this!I am definitely going to try more from the line,I so wish I had discovered this earlier!

Gels/Soaps -L'Occitane - Verbena soap
waterlily26 7/30/2007 2:37:00 PM
I'm so disappointed with this product,it is unbelieveable! First of all,it has NO actual verbena extract in it if u have a look at the ingredients. It smells nothing like verbena,if u compare it with the shower gel. Although it claims to have 20% of shea butter,I can't see how it could because afterwards my skin is so dried out and has this snakeskin-like appearance! It is cheap but with the quality it is of,it is way too expensive for a synthetic soap!I definitely better stick with the shower gel next time.

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Addict 2 Summer Peonies
waterlily26 7/27/2007 9:05:00 PM
I can't believe no one has reviewed this yet! This is the new limited edition summer fragrance of the Dior addict 2 range. It is a beautiful pink bottle with peonies on it,very girlie, very Dior!:-) Anyway I have only just bought this today but I can definitely say for sure that it lack staying power. It smells really light and fresh but still has this floral note(I'm terrible at describing fragrances!).I have to admit that I am still in searching of that HG fragrance(Philosophy's Amazing Grace has came very near),esp the PERFECT summer fragrance! Overall,I like this but not in love with it.I wouldn't repurchase again,I hardly finishes a fragrance anyway and I kind of bought it for my bottle-collecting addiction!^_^

Masks -Liz Earle - liz earle intensive nourishing treatment mask
waterlily26 7/20/2007 11:50:00 PM
This is my HG mask(and i don't have many of these!)for moisturising, sooth my skin and imparts a healthy glow on the skin! I wouldn't say it smells divine,I don't dislike it either. It has a lovely creamy texture but easily absorbed as you apply it,it's like my skin just drinks all the nutrients in right away! This is so soothing and the redness on my cheeks disappear as soon as I apply this, unlike the redness I tend to get with other lotion/fluid texture masks. After 10-15 minutes as instructed, there's absolutely no residue on the skin and even after I rinse it off,the effect stays!I'm left with soft, moisturised, calm, clear and even skintoned skin,my idea of PERFECTION! P.S.Decleor harmonie gentle soothing mask was my favourite and although it smells nicer,I would definitely stick with this--at less than half of the price!

Lip Treatments -Yves Saint Laurent - Exfoliating lip balm
waterlily26 6/29/2007 9:42:00 PM
I can't BELIEVE this hasn't been reviewed yet!Ok maybe, because apparently it is a euro exclusive(wonder why they do that?). Let me start by saying that there isn't that many lip exfoliators around but this is definitely the BEST!Certainly much better than the BeneFit dr.feelgood lip exfoliator, and a lot less irritating/abrasive than simply using the good old lip brush. The gold packaging is so stunning,it feels so luxurious whenever I take it out of my handbag(good for any dry/flaky lips emergencies!).It smells minty fresh with a subtle strawberry twist(it contains real strawberry seeds!).This makes my lips sooo soft and totally flake-free.I don't feel the necessity to put on lip balm afterwards either. I can't comment on the value for money because I'm sure many cheaper/drugstore companies will start to bring out such products in the future, but you only need a tiny bit everytime so I can see it last me easily a year!

Loose Powders -Clinique - Derma White (Active White Lab Solution) Brightening Loose Powder
waterlily26 6/14/2007 6:20:00 PM
I CAN'T believe this hasn't reviewed yet!Because NOT only people was amazed by the product when Niu-er showed it on the Taiwanese TV show Queen(nv ren wo zui da),it is simply the BEST loose powder ever! This has the finest and softest texture, not at all chalky like many loose powders can be.When you apply onto the skin, you can instantly feel it cooling and even see some smoke! The powder itself is white with shimmers but it is more of a translucent color (Oh the shade I bought is called 01 translucent glow--I think there's one shade anyway). It makes my skin look visibly whitened and glow with health yet very natural,as if it is part of my skin.Even for my skin which is easily dried by powder, there is no dry patches or flaky skin in sight. There's no trace of unflattering shine either, and PLS do remember do touch your skin afterwards, because it feels like silk, honestly! I would say though, that some may find this a bit over-shimmery but as a die-hard fan of shimmer,it's wonderful!^_^ Another downside is maybe that sifter tends to come up with a lot of product so be sure to tap off the excess of the brush This is about $30 which is amazing value for money considering also that it is a whitening, smoothing and mattifying all in one loose powder. However,it isn't widely available--it is recently dis-continued in China and on the Clinique websites, only Hong Kong,Taiwan,Japan and Korea stock it.I have had this for several months now and I can't see myself ever finishing the pot!(I'd be very sad when I see it finish because I don't know where I can get it from now!

Fragrances -Clarins - Eau Ensoleillante Sunshine Fragrance
waterlily26 6/14/2007 4:04:00 PM
Call me biased but I absolutely adore this fragrance(it is more like a body treatment fragrance with lasting power)!I know so I am a HUGE Clarins fan but I have always liked the scent of their sun care range and when I was told that they are making it into a fragrance I was ecstatic! The fragrance itself is very citrusy, its quite unique I can't describe it very well(well i generally find it hard to describe a fragrance lol!),it smells just like summer!I must say that it is very conditioning on the skin too which I love, and doesn't disappear quickly. In terms of a fragrance,it isn't the most stunning bottle ever but the QUALITY is very good. The spray nozzle sprays just the right amount,PERFECT!I just can't rave about it enough!:-P

Eye Shadow -Clarins - Colour quartet for eyes 10 celestial shimmers
waterlily26 6/12/2007 5:19:00 PM
I had to review this because not only Clairns updated the packaging(silvery oval-shaped compact rather than block red rectangular)and the colors(with more shimmers and duo-chrome effect),the texture is completely different too! The clarins SA did my make-up with this a while back,I discovered so many uses for them, including putting the shades on top of an liner makes it go from pastels to brights(not OTT),which just makes the eyes pop! This is such a versatile palette,my fave way of wearing is:-Navy eyeliner on top lashes and khaki eyeliner on lower lashes, then the pink shade as a highlighter, the lilac shade on the lids on top of the eyliner and up to the creaes, the green shade on the lower eyes on top of the eyeliner and finally a bit of the yellow shade at the inner corner of the eyes, viola! I had my reservations about the texture of the eyeshadows I have to say and I was like 'here we go' when I saw that the eyeshadows are quite sheer. However I was really surprised and pleased to discover that on blending well and possibly a second layer,it builds onto just the color i desired, the 'young-and-fun' look:-D They do tend to start fade after 5 or 6 hours but that doesn't matter to me so much as I can use UD primer potion for that:-P Anyway this is my new favourite and has been for ages.I don't think any other shadows will be able to replace its status cos they are really unique colors. It is expensive but compared to other brands,Estee Lauder,Givenchy etc. it is the cheapest of the 'premium' brands.
