Eye Shadow -NYX - 10 Color Palette - Champagne & Caviar
rated 4 of 5
wandabee 2/24/2011 6:29:00 PM

I'm quite pleased with this pallette. I love how easy it is to make such beautiful smokey neutral looks, and the price point is very reasonable. My only complaints are that the medium toned colors are very similar, and that the dark brown and white colors are fairly chalky. Other than that, the pigmentation is good, the staying power is good, and overall this is a lovely neutral pallette! (N.B. Since I don't own the U.D. Naked pallette, I can't make completely accurate comparisons; however, the colors are fairly close to the ones in the naked pallette. The only difference I noted was that from the tester I tried at Sephora, the medium shades were more brilliantly metallic than the NYX shadows.)

Polishes -MAC - Abalone Shell
rated 2 of 5
wandabee 4/25/2010 1:51:00 AM

My mom bought this polish for her and I to share. Any time she's tried it, it's been streaky and truly unnatural looking. After giving it a go myself, I can see why she's had so many difficulties! The application looks good MAYBE after three coats, and even then, it can appear patchy. The packaging is fairly decent; although the cap is a BIT cumbersome, it's not overly hard to handle. The brush is fairly good too; what really holds this polish back is the consistency of the polish itself! In addition, the color is kind of interesting, but looks somewhat... wrong with my skin tone. Never before have I encountered a nude that's made me go "eech?" (Question mark included!) Not impressed with this foray into MAC polishes! I'm really more of an OPI girl, all the way!

Blush -MAC - breezy
rated 5 of 5
wandabee 4/17/2010 9:45:00 PM

Absolutely glorious blush. It's a subtle dusky reddish-rose color with a bit of shimmer to it. It can be used for a very mild flush, or can be built up to create a striking look. Now that I've used Fyrinnae blushes, I'm not so fond of the price. But otherwise, this MAC blush is definitely worth it!

Lip Treatments -MAC - Tread Gently Tendertone Lip Balm SPF 12
rated 3 of 5
wandabee 10/13/2008 4:19:00 PM

I was convinced by a MAC M.A. to buy this shade of tendertone, but am fairly satisfied that I was :) The formula is very smooth (meaning the glitter doesn't sit on your lips in chunks), as well as moisturizing. The smell is also delicious: a mixture of strawberry and kiwi. I also love the fact that I can mix pigments in with this balm to create wild new lipcolors ;) (I know, some pigments aren't necessarily safe for use on the lips... But doing so once in a while can't hurt ;)) My only problems with this product are the aftertaste (yuck, sunscreen XP), the packaging, and how little there is in the pot for $16!! In all honesty, I won't buy this product again for those three reasons... But all in all, it is a good product; it's just not suited to my tastes (including my sense of taste...)

Eye Shadow -The Body Shop - Eye Colour #32
rated 4 of 5
wandabee 8/4/2008 6:15:00 PM

Really, the Body Shop's eye-shadows are on-par with those of MAC. Originally, I was going to purchase MAC's "Smoke & Diamonds"; however, this shade really has more of the taupe undertones I was looking for. It's very shimmery, with color that can be built up, and has good staying power. My only complaint is with respect to how many colors are available; this is a wonderfully complementary shade, but I want more! Hopefully they'll bring out more colors in the near future, because I really am starting to like this line!

Eye Shadow -Prestige - Baked Shadow Quad
rated 1 of 5
wandabee 7/17/2008 1:39:00 PM

I purchased this quad in "Bijou" (or, at least, I think that's what it's called; it includes white, peach, golden brown, and dark brown) from my local drug store. As a side note, many companies are trying to jump on the "Mineral makeup" bandwagon. This product demonstrates how some companies can pull it off very well, and how some just cannot make it work at all (in this case, the latter is true). The colors in this quad are all chalky, and are hard to build up. They also have a very strange smell to them, which is quite off-putting to me :S The killing blow is the undertones of the colors themselves. They're slightly grey-orange, upon application, which isn't apparent in-case :P And it really doesn't help that my eyes became extremely itchy and irritated a few hours after applying this makeup (some particles must have ended up in my eye, and stayed there :O) Definitely won't re-purchase, but I might as well try to use this sucker up :P

Eye Shadow -MAC - Mineralize Play on Plums
rated 4 of 5
wandabee 7/17/2008 1:48:00 AM

I really like the colors of this eyeshadow duo. However, I really don't appreciate how similar in texture/consistency it is to the "Lustre" category of shadows. I was very excited with the color combination, but was disappointed with the amount of fallout it had upon application. However, using a gentler technique provided much better results. In this duo, one is a peachy tone with golden veins, the other a deep plum with copper highlights. I've only attempted a look in which the plum is used as a crease color, with the peach tone on the lids. But I'm sure this product will grow on me :)

Liquid -Maybelline - Superstay Silky foundation ]
rated 4 of 5
wandabee 7/17/2008 1:43:00 AM

When you need superior coverage, this is the product to use. It goes on smoothly, but applies in a fairly thick layer. I didn't find that it clogged my pores; I just thought it looked less natural, more "done" than any other foundation I've used. However, it covers up any breakouts or flaws exceptionally well, but could accentuate fine lines/wrinkles (I only experienced this phenomenon mildly, at my eyes' laugh lines).

Eye Shadow -Clinique - High Impact Eye Shadow Duo - Beach Bronze
rated 4 of 5
wandabee 7/17/2008 1:37:00 AM

A great, compact duo. The applicator brush is a bit blah, but the golden beige and brown are stunning! This duo is perfect for a simple summer look, and is packaged well for easy touch ups on the go... I definitely recommend it!

Blush -Clinique - Soft-Pressed Powder Blusher in Mocha Pink
rated 4 of 5

A very nice and complimentary color; however, I would have appreciated a larger package size, as well as a softer synthetic applicator brush.

Lipstick -MAC - Pink D'Lush Slimshine
rated 5 of 5
wandabee 7/17/2008 1:33:00 AM

Although I thought this lipstick would be pink/orange/coral in color, I found it to be more of a berry shade than anything else. However, I still love the fact that this lipstick imparts both shine and rich (or even sheer, depending on the application) color to the lips! Also, my lips don't feel dried out at all after wearing this lipstick. I'll definitely re-purchase, but hope to find a more coral shade in the future :)

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Illumination Loose Powder Shadow
rated 4 of 5
wandabee 7/17/2008 1:27:00 AM

I have this eyeshadow in yellow, green, and white. These are excellent when used as highlighting colors on the brow bone and tear duct Although the application is a bit flaky, the color payoff is still decent, and the staying power is good (although I don't use these colors in the crease, which is where the most wear occurs) I'm saying no to buying again, since these will probably last me until eternity; I've had them for 2 years, and there's barely a dent in the product :P

Lip Gloss -Marcelle - LUX
rated 5 of 5
wandabee 7/17/2008 1:19:00 AM

I have purchased this gloss in the shades "Princess" and "Champagne", and have nothing other than compliments for this product! It's not nearly as tacky as other lip glosses, but still has the high shine and subtle color that I desire. Additionally, my lips feel soft and moisturized when I wear these glosses, which cannot be said about other products I've used. All in all, I'm definitely going to buy this product in other shades :)

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Persagel 10
rated 4 of 5
wandabee 7/17/2008 1:11:00 AM

I've used this product for years, and would truly recommend it for people suffering from mild to medium cases of acne. Whenever I have a breakout, I persistently apply this cream to the region (hope for the best), and usually see results within a few days. Although many people experience sensitivity and dryness after using benzoyl peroxide creams/solutions, I've never had such problems. It's best to consult a dermatologist, or at the very least a family doctor/pharmacist before using this product. EDIT: For some odd reason, it's re-directing my review to the 10% benzoyl peroxide product... My results are from the 5% cream solution, so keep that in mind!

Powder -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Powdered Mineral Foundation
rated 4 of 5
wandabee 7/17/2008 1:06:00 AM

This foundation really does have nice, even, and variable coverage, but the packaging stinks :P I typically use a different brush when I wear this product, seeing as the one provided is VERY harsh. There do exist soft synthetic brushes out there; why one wasn't included with this foundation, I'll never know. In any case, with the (physical) sun protection and good staying power, this has become my summer foundation product.
