Lipstick -Prestige - Electra

I was a little skeptical that a lipstick named "electra" would be so tame and wearable, but it is! I'm a PPP, and for me it's a sheer shimmery cocoa. I only like to quickly swipe it on, by itself, because too many swipes and the shimmer becomes a frost, which I don't like, but it's been living in my pocketbook and I always reach for it. And to top it all off, it's cheap!

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Ultimate Expressions Eyeshadow Palette - Sand Castle - 396 [DISCONTINUED]

OMG. HG!! I have been looking for YEARS for the perfect sheer sparkley eye, and this is by far THE BEST. I bought it after reading the reviews, and it did not disappoint. And it's super super cheap at $3.99! All the colors are great and highly usable, but for me the magic color is the lower left corner. Sheer nude, but with perfect micro sparkles! There's a little fallout, but I don't mind it, and besides, you can lessen that by using an eyeshadow primer. I use the one by Lumene (CVS, $9.99). Best $3.99 I ever spent.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Fig Lip Shimmer

After reading all the review here, my hopes were so high. I'm a PPP, but like so many other lip products, this one turned orange on me! I had to give it away. The price is fine, as is the packaging. I did like the warm minty burn it gives, but the color wasn't for me.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Trio 8 Spring Leaf - Lime Green - Green Tea
rated 3 of 5

I have this, but don't find myself reaching for it very often. The shadows are nice quality though and the packaging is nice too. This would probably be very nice for brown or hazel eyes.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Trio Eyeshadow TS1 (White/ Pearly silver/ Soft black)
rated 2 of 5

The only color worthwhile here is the black, and you can buy it singly so should do so. The white and gray are very sheer and on my sallow PPP skin don't show up at all, but the black is great so get that one.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Black
rated 4 of 5
vyolett 1/19/2006 7:25:00 AM

I have this as part of their trio no. 1. This is the only shadow in the set that works and I go to it all the time. Very highly pigmented, it's good to use to deepen other shadows, on its own, or as a replacement for eyeliner. I took off a lippy only because it's slighly chalky, but I don't know that that can be avoided. Nonetheless, highly recommended!

Eye Shadow -NYX - Grey

I have this as part of the trio no. 1 and am not impressed with the color. It goes on very sheer and on my sallow PPP skin you can't see much of anything. If you're pale, this is probably not what you're looking for. Very little pigment.

Eye Shadow -NYX - White

I have this as part of their trio no. 1, and can't say that I'm very impressed with it. In general, I like NYX products very much, but the white is very sheer and on my sallow PPP skin you can see basically nothing.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Trio 17 - Frosted Flake-Slate-Iced Mocha
rated 5 of 5
vyolett 1/19/2006 7:20:00 AM

This trio is very useful for a subtle-but-polished look on my sallow PPP skin. They are basically a shell pink and two shades of taupe that go on fairly sheerly and with just a bit of black shadow at the outer corners and some mascara I feel I have a very good look going on without looking like a tried too hard. If you've got the same coloring, I'd recommend it highly.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Iced Mocha

I got this as part of the no. 17 trio. I'm a sallow PPP and use this for a subtle-but-polished looked. It's a dark taupe with some brown and I use it for the crease and outer corners. Good stuff.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Slate
rated 4 of 5
vyolett 1/19/2006 7:08:00 AM

I got this as part of a trio (no. 17) and have recently rediscovered it. I'm a sallow PPP and this trio makes a good polished-but-subtle look. This color I use all over the lid and it's natural looking. But "slate" it isn't. I'd call it a darkish taupish, but subtle. I like it a lot.

I got this as part of a trio set (no. 17) and have recently rediscovered it. I'm a sallow PPP and this works really well as part of a subtle-but-polished look. Of the trio I use this for highlighting the browgone and inner corners of the eyes. Really like it.

Lip Liners -Maybelline - Moisture Whip lipliner in Toast
rated 5 of 5
vyolett 1/11/2006 7:57:00 AM

What? I guess this has been discontinued, but this was great. About the only lipliner I ever used to the end. A fantastic color that wasn't too obnoxious on my sallow PPP skin. A very nice brown/red. Edited to add: according to Maybelline's website, and the link above, it's still being sold! Yay!! Get it.

Tinted Moisturizer -Avon - Visual Perfection Tint Releasing Moisturizer
rated 2 of 5
vyolett 1/11/2006 7:53:00 AM

I'm glad I got this on sale, because it really isn't any good. The smell is great, the texture is fine, BUT there were tiny granules (I'm guessing the tint release part) that would smear on like I'd drawn on my face with a brown eyeliner, and they were hard to get off! Don't get it.

Lip Gloss -Avon - Shine Supreme
rated 4 of 5
vyolett 1/10/2006 8:05:00 AM

I have this in Twig Glaze. It's a really versatile color and works well on my sallow PPP skin. I think of this as a cross between a lipstick and a lip gloss, on this site it's been listed as a gloss, but on the Avon site it's under the lipsticks, and it's probably best put there. It's very thick and muddy and I need to put a clear gloss on top. But I recommend it and I use it often. Costs $8.
