The weather has been terribly hot and humid lately that my scalp sweats by midday and my hair is oily. So much so that my scalp itches. I was scouting for a oily hair/scalp shampoo and decided to go with this as I had pretty good result with it once (forgot which one). I can shampoo everyday without my hair drying. My scalp has stopped itching. The only thing I didn't like is how watery it is. I had to use a lot. I might try the method below by making sure my hair is very wet before shampoo.

I used a few bottles of this but stopped now that my skin is drier. It is good for exfoliating but dry skin should be cautious as this does dry the skin out a little. Over exfoliating can be a problem using this or anything else so don't.

The packaging is meh. The product even more so. On sensitive skin, the mint really hurts and aggravates. My face was red and burning. Avoid this if you have sensitive skin. I also developed an allergy reaction to this. Not sure from what, but since then I've also switched to natural / organic skincare.

Mild organic olive conditioner. Just enough for normal hair but will not do much for dry hair (or winter). Does not aggravate my eczema skin.

Mild organic olive shampoo. Good for everyday but too mild for deep cleansing. If used for more than 4 days, will cause itchiness on my oily scalp as the buildup is not deep cleansed. Does not aggravate my eczema skin.

Shampoo -Klorane - Soothing Shampoo with Peony Extract for Irritated Itchy Scalps

Soothe and calms my itchy & acne scalp when I had problem with my scalp a few years ago. At the same time, I have eczema skin so I must use natural / organic product without SLS (which causes my eczema flare up). I was under a lot of stress back then so I needed to calm my scalp. When the scalp is itchy and has acne, the inflamed hair follicles will cause more hair falling. After using 3 bottles of this, my scalp calmed down and now I am back to normal. I also used Avalon Organics Teatree shampoo in between. Now my HG is Avalon Organics Teatree shampoo and I believe either Klorane or Avalon Organics is good enough for itchy/acne scalp problem.

Shampoo -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Tea Tree Mint Treatment Shampoo

Can't believe I haven't review this though this is my HG shampoo for years and I've used at least 6 to 10 bottles now. I have sensitive, eczema skin and oily scalp. So I definitely need a shampoo that removes the grease (or else my scalp will itch) but at the same time, does not aggravate my face or neck. Normally, my eczema skin is aggravated by SLS including shampoo that accidentally flows to my face & neck during shampooing. Why is why I needed an organic shampoo. However, due to my oily scalp, some organic shampoo are too mild and does not deep clean my roots causing my scalp to itch. So this is it. This is THE shampoo for me in my current complicated condition.

Got this from my derm. Haven't try it yet. Currently still too much eczema flareup to switch from emollient wash. Will review once I switch to this.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
rated 4 of 5
vuvie 3/3/2013 12:36:00 AM

I am on the lookout for natural body moisturiser as I am currently having crazy eczema flare up. After reading numerous (and I mean numerous!) sites and reviews on the benefits of raw coconut oil as moisturiser, I had to try this. However since I live in the tropics, I kept thinking I got the wrong product as it doesn't crystalise at room temperature. Turns out, the weather is way too hot here. To crystalise, just pour it into a jar and pop it in the freezer. Yesterday night was the first time I'd used it as body moisturiser. Oh so nice, moisturising and breathable (unlike vaseline which is prescribed by the dermatologist no less!). I believe it also has anti-bacterial properties as my skin is not as red anymore (will confirm this through more real research and not heresay). I applied it straight out of the freezer so it is solid and therefore unlikely to overdo. As it is solid and cold, just feels so good when it touches the skin and melts. Takes a while for the oil to sink but waiting is not a problem as it is natural and good. Woke up this morning feeling still moisturised (normally my skin will feel tight especially around the soft belly area). Some of my eczema wounds/cuts are showing signs of healing and not as open. I have severe drying eczema and this works for me now. However, I do not believe it is good as it does clog pores and could cause problems for normal skin. For now I only recommend this for eczema/dry winter skin on body and limbs. Never face. NOTE: I believe it is comedogenic and should not be used on face. Confirmed, it is comedogenic cause my chin starts to have tiny bumps. As long as I am using this as a moisturiser, I will use anti-acne wash on my chin to remove the bumps. This method works so far. EDIT: Been using this for a while now. While I still maintain that this is good for body & limbs (never face), I've found that coconut oil stains my sheets and pyjamas. So once my eczema is not as dry anymore, I will switch to something else. Point is, this is good while having problem and dry skin but as long as skin is in good condition, regular moisturising is better as it is unlikely to stain the sheets and duvet.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Stiefel Acne-Aid® Liquid Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
vuvie 3/1/2013 2:49:00 PM

I bought this to combat tiny bumps I get from vaseline getting on my face and not being able to remove / wash them out of my skin. I have very sensitive skin and this one does dries out if overzealous. It makes my face red but I was using all over my face, even on places where my skin is good (albeit sensitive). Once I just use this sparingly to cleanse on my bumpy skin, it's all good. Clears the bumps away in no time! From their website: Description Ideal for treating pimples and oily skin. Helps prevent skin dryness by maintaining a healthy pH with a soap-free formula. Active Ingredients Sulphonated oil 2% w/w purified water, sodium lauroylsarcosinate, disodiumlaureth sulfosuccinate, cocamidopropyl betaine, myristic acid, sulphonated oil, glycerine, PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate, glycol distearate, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate cross polymer, disodium EDTA, imidazolidinyl urea, sodium hydroxide, fragrance Presentation 150ml/bottle Directions of Use Use on the face or other areas affected by pimples or oily skin conditions. Wet skin, apply sufficient amount of Acne-Aid® Liquid Cleanser and work out lather, massage gently before rinsing with clean water and pat dry. The skin will now feel clean, smooth and soft.

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly
rated 1 of 5
vuvie 3/1/2013 2:38:00 PM

Vaseline is 100% petrolatum and not everyone is allergic to it. In fact it is quite unlikely. However, since I have very sensitive/eczema skin, I try not to use this too much. Lips: Soften the lips but caused dark brown spots on my lips. (rectified that with Burt's Bees' lip balm. Lip discolouration is gone). Body: When I had dry dry peeling eczema, this is good in creating a total barrier (not moisturising, different thing) the water so my skin barrier improves and heals. What this means is, it actually suffocates the skin so the skin is unable to breathe and causes clogging too. However, as I was having severe drying and cuts all over so this helps in creating a false skin barrier. Do not mistake that for moisturising. Face: I don't use this on the face but due to excess usage on body, some got transferred to my chin and caused clogging / bumps along a large area. I am too old to have acne skin, normally my skin is pretty ok and dry-ish. I couldn't even get the vaseline off after numerous showering and face washing. In the end, I used Acne-Aid liquid cleanser on my chin to be able to remove the vaseline. Skin smoothes out immediately. When I check out of the hospital and my doctor prescribed me some more vaseline, I just refused. Went out and got Burt's Bees Baby Bee ointment. Works wonderfully and is organic without petroleum jelly. Another organic moisturiser option for eczema skin is raw coconut oil. Note: since I have sensitive skin, the Acne-Aid must only be used on the spots where vaseline cannot be removed. First day, I used all over my face and my face became red (but not dried out). So beware people with sensitive skin.

Treatments -HANSKIN - Super Spot Control Serum
rated 4 of 5
vuvie 3/1/2013 2:27:00 PM

Like the dropper style glass bottle. Very hygienic. It is thick-ish gel like and heals the pimple without too much irritation (I have very sensitive skin so I felt it itches a little). I know for others it will just glide on nicely without any feeling at all. I am the kind that will get angry patches if I use tea tree or eucalyptus so there. Dries out the bumps on my chin but not my skin. It is all organic or so I think. I remember my Korean friend giving me a Hanskin full face mask once telling that it is a really good and expensive brand in Korea. I trust her.

Cleansers -HABA - Oil Cleansing
rated 3 of 5
vuvie 3/1/2013 2:17:00 PM

SKII cleansing oil is my HG. I've tried Shu Uemura, DHC, Fancl and then maybe some forgettable ones. So what if it has squalene? Cleansing product doesn't stay very long on the surface so all the additional formula doesn't mean squat. This is less viscose but gets the job done. I still like SKII better as its viscosity is between shu uemura/DHC and Fancl/HABA.
