Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Cotz Face SPF40

I bought this after trying a sample at my dermatologist's. It is all I was looking for in a mineral sunblock. The consistency is thick, almost like toothpaste, but it spreads easily. The tint looks dark tan out of the tube but blends away once you apply it. I have fair skin with a faint yellow undertone and it's impossible to tell that I had this product on. There is no ghostly mask effect. The only disadvantage is that it will rub off on clothing, so I don't apply to my neck. The silicones make skin feel smooth, and I have a feeling that the zinc oxide has been good for my skin as I have had zero breakouts. As another reviewer pointed out, this product has a mattifying effect and if your skin is dry it will emphasize wrinkles, so it is a good idea to moisturize before applying. My personal routine the last weeks has been to apply CE Ferulic serum first, followed by Welleda Everon cream, and finally Cotz.

Masks -Amore Pacific - Moisture Bound Vitalizing Masque

I tried this as a sample first and fell in love with it immediately and bought a full bottle. It gives my skin a glow and sheen after applying it and seems to tighten and smooth my skin a little the way serums do (it contains silicone so that explains the smoothness). It also has a lightly cooling effect. I have decided to use this every night and hopefully will not break me out. I wish I had discovered this product in the midst of winter to really test its moisturizing abilities. The price appears high but you do get a lot of product so ounce for ounce it is comparable in price to department store brands. It does what it claims: hydrate skin and make it appear revitalized. Other than that, I have no magic expectations of this product but the ingredients list is impressive: among others ginseng, green tea, caffeine, ginger, natto, carrot, prickly pear, zinc, copper, calcium, magnesium...

Moisturizers -Weleda - Everon Cold Cream

This has become my HG winter moisturizer. I used to get dry scaly patches when the weather changed but this winter I gave this a shot based on my boss's recommendation - she is a loyal user of the product even in summertime and her skin always looks smooth and dewy. Cold Cream is a thick cream, more like an ointment, white in color with a rosy fragrance. I apply it in the morning right after I shower. First I apply Skinceuticals CE Ferulic serum, let it sink in, and then I apply Cold Cream. It is mild enough that I can apply it around the eye area. I walk to work every day so I feel that it protects my skin from harsh outdoor winter weather. I would not recommend this product for younger people unless you have very dry skin - it is greasy and it tends to sit on top of your skin. In fact I tried this in my early 30's and I could not tolerate how oily it was. But now that my skin has become drier, I welcome the healthy "glow" that I get from this product. I keep my tube in the fridge because I have noticed that the cream becomes slightly yellow over time (I keep all my "natural" cosmetics such as Dr Hauschka in the fridge given that they don't contain preservatives) so I suspect that it oxidizes when exposed to air.

Sunscreen -Clarins - (New Formula) UV Plus Day Screen SPF 40 High Protection with E3P

I used to wear La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Fluide Extreme but it dried my skin too much and would make my eyes water. I was also concerned about using chemical sunblocks for everyday city protection. The consistency of Clarins UV Plus is very fluid and it applies easily. It dries quickly and leaves a slightly translucent white layer on your skin, there's no denying it. It does give me a slight ghostly look but what do you expect -- it is a physical blocker. I like the scent which to me is slightly rose-like but it smells fresh and not like cheap sunscreen. It has become my everyday sunscreen and it has worked great during the humid days of summer as it does not add shine to my face. I apply it close to the eye area and so far it does not cause irritation. Also when I go to the beach I apply this first, let it dry, and then apply a layer of Clarins "Sun Wrinkle Control" SPF 50 face cream on top. I figure out the physical + chemical protection cannot be beat. Update 5/7/2012 I have switched to Josie Maran's Protect Daily Sun Protection Argan Oil Infused SPF 40+ mineral sunblock during the spring months because it is not as drying at the Clarins product and it moisturizes better. I would stick to UV Plus HP for the humid months when you are out at the beach sweating, but for everyday use I much prefer Maran's product. Update 4/7/2013 I gave this another shot this winter but sadly it is not for me. The other day at work I was asked if I was wearing a BB cream because the whitish residue gave me a funny cast. That's not good if you are a guy lol.
