Polishes -OPI - Grand Canyon Sunset NL30
vmathew 4/26/2007 5:53:00 PM
I think I got this mixed up with Grand Canyon Sunset when I got it. The color is a mid rose/mauve color - very similar to many others I have. Nice color, just not for me.

Styling Products -Matrix - Biolage - Gelee
vmathew 4/24/2007 3:56:00 PM
This is becoming my HG gel. I have wavy/curly thick hair and have tried everything from drugstore, Ouidad, Jessicurl, etc. I have been pleasantly surprised at how well this performs. No crunch, great hold, nice Biolage fragrance. I don't usually wear my hair curly, so I haven't tested this for a really curly style. The texture is just that - a gelee - more liquid than a thick gel. I saw the review re: reformulation and I don't have the bottle in front of me to know if that is the case with what I've been using. Definitely recommend to those who've been on a search for a great gel.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks - Calypso Coral
vmathew 4/23/2007 10:05:00 PM
I just cant get the hang of applying this product. The color is absolutely fantastic, but it takes more time to get just the right look - I'm going to stick with powder blushes. Excellent BB quality, but going up for swap.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Blush in Nectar

My absolute HG every day blush! The quality of BB blushes are excellent, and this has great staying power. It gives me a great rosy glow without being overpowering (I use BB Warm Sand foundation).

Blush -Bobbi Brown - apricot powder blush
vmathew 4/23/2007 10:01:00 PM
This is definitely a bright/fuschia looking color in the pot. I'm used to being able to put more blush on across my cheeks, and with this you only need to use the smallest amount. Mixed with bronzer it gives that sunkissed look. A very little goes a long way!

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Powder Blush in Rose

This is more dark/mauve on my cheeks than I thought it would be...I wear BB warm sand, and am a MAC NC30. I am a fan of BB blushes, but I will stick with my HG Nectar.

Conditioner -Sunsilk - Anti-Frizz Conditioner
vmathew 2/28/2007 8:59:00 AM
After reading a few reviews on the Sunsilk products on MUA I thought I'd try them, and the timing was great as there were some on clearance at Target (special 3 pack). Glad I tried. The cool thing first off is the packaging - the flip tops are at separate ends for the shampoo and conditioner so in the shower all you need to remember is that one is upside down (as the bottles look the same). OK enough about the packaging. This conditioner seems to rinse clean and leaves my hair in good shape - not weighed down, is detangled, etc. For the price this is a great find. I then follow with the 24-7 cream.

Shampoo -Sunsilk - Anti-Frizz Shampoo
vmathew 2/28/2007 8:56:00 AM
After reading the various reviews for Sunsilk products on MUA, I saw a few on clearance at Target. The frizz control line is actually called De Frizz not anti frizz. I thought these would be the same as other drugstore type brands, but there seems to be a better feel to my hair between rinsing and then putting on the de frizz conditioner. I haven't had a chance to try it long enough to see if there will be a build up, but the cleansers seem to be pretty mild. Definitely worth a try.

Styling Products -Sunsilk - De Frizz 24 7 Cream
vmathew 2/28/2007 8:54:00 AM
After reading the reviews on MUA for various Sunsilk products I saw a few on clearance at Target. Glad I took the chance. The 24/7 cream is a cross between a leave in conditioner and a gel (their description on the package). It's similar to other products but I like the feel, the scent and it doesn't weigh my hair down. Worth a try!!!!

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
vmathew 2/21/2007 3:51:00 PM
I finally realized the correct way to use this product. In the past I had mixed it with water or put water on my face before putting it on. Definitely NOT the way to do it. So, I had always thought it didn't work. The directions on the bottle say to put it on, then either use water to rinse off or wipe with a dry cloth. This has worked wonders this winter on my face...it's not tight, red, or blotchy after washing. I agree that it doesn't remove foundation as well as I'd like, but I have pared down my routine. I also just saw another review further down that says she mixes baking soda with this...I might try it. I agree that the generics aren't the same.

Shampoo -Matrix - Biolage - Hydrating Shampoo
vmathew 2/20/2007 1:28:00 PM
I seem to have had the opposite "problem" of the others here. I had used this in the past and it did nothing for my hair. I ended up buying it with the conditioning balm as part of a good package deal. This really works well for my hair, along with my daughter's very long thick hair. I buy it at ULTA.

Styling Products -Matrix - Curl Life Every Weather Hairspray
vmathew 2/14/2007 2:06:00 PM
This definitely lives up to its name, although in the winter it at times weighs my hair down. I've found with both the Curl Life Shaping Foam (aka mousse) and the hairspray, it's like there is a gel like texture to it... This has an aerosol dispenser which tends to work best for me (although I do switch w/another brand with a pump spray also).

Styling Products -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease Flexible Hold Hairspray
vmathew 2/14/2007 2:03:00 PM
I tried this product since I use other John Frieda products and wanted to change from the heavier spray I use. I usually don't get much luck with "mist like" sprays since the holes clog. I find that it provides just the right amount of coverage and doesn't weigh my hair down. Sometimes the spray direction gets a bit funky, which is why I gave it a 3 lippie, but I think this is a great product for the price.

Styling Products -John Frieda - Dream Cream
vmathew 2/14/2007 2:01:00 PM
I keep coming back to this product. At this point in my life it's working really well in my short layered hair to calm frizzies I get w/blowdrying(I have naturally curly hair). I find that it has just the right amount of thickness so it doesn't weigh my hair down.

Hair -John Frieda - 5-Minute Manager (blowdry lotion)
vmathew 2/14/2007 1:59:00 PM
I am so bummed that this was discontinued. Although it seems like a pretty basic, no frills product, something just made it click with my hair. I've tried other similar products which don't work as well. It looks like not alot of people agree w/me since it was discontinued.
