Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Ed Hardy Villain
violetsrblu 2/29/2012 4:04:00 PM
I never paid attention to Ed Hardy fragrances, but I was compelled to try a spritz at Ulta after seeing the memaid bottle tester. I grew up in a Florida beach town and have always loved anything that reminded me of the sea. I gagged at first, but it quickly dried down to a very delicious scent on me. It smelled sweet; the composition consists of watermelon, lychee, citrus notes, lotus, magnolia, freesia, sandal, orris and creme brulee, but mostly citrus and vanilla seemed to dominate on me. I decided to purchase this fragrance for the summer, but I've been wearing it at home and smelling my wrists a lot, LOL! The cons for me: Not long lasting; I'm considering a purchase of the body lotion to see if it will help. Bottle looks cheap, like a bubble bath container. Pertaining to the previous reviewer's statement about the relationship of the mermaid to this fragrance's name: In Greek mythology, the Sirens were dangerous creatures, portrayed as seductresses who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. The Sirens are sometimes portrayed as mermaid-like. In Spanish, the word for mermaid is Sirena. I guess the scent is supposed to be very alluring and thus, it makes a woman dangerous to men, heh-heh. I've noticed the brands that target the younger women are mostly sweet and fruity.

Styling Products -Schwarzkopf - Osis+ Freeze Fix
violetsrblu 1/23/2012 12:08:00 AM
This has been my current favorite for the past 3 years. I have long, fine, flyaway hair w/ crazy cowlicks. No drugstore hairsprays could ever keep it in place for more than a few hours. Finally I tried Sebastian Shaper Plus and it became my HG until the formula changed for the worse. I tried many max hold hairsprays at the suggestions of friends, family and hairstylists, but I finally became totally satisfied w/ Osis+Freeze Fix. It can give great lift and volume, and holds my hair in place for the entire day, even after a nap. My husband and I like to cruise around in a convertible and I leave my hair loose and blowing around. After our ride, a few quick, light brushings on my hair and it will be back in place!

Treatments (Eye) -Kiehls - Ultra Moisturizing Eye Stick SPF 30 [DISCONTINUED]
violetsrblu 3/2/2011 11:21:00 PM
The skin under my eyes are dry and crepey, and my anti-aging eye creams don't help the problem and sometimes makes it worse. I've been on the hunt for a long lasting moisturizing eye cream to layer over the treatment creams. Kiehl's ultra moisturizing eye stick spf 30 is the best I've tried so far. It makes my skin look moist and lines less pronounced. I am prone to milia and Kiehl's has not caused any problems. Concealers will apply more smoothly too and not fade as long as it is set w/ a little powder (I like MUF HD). After giving my 1st eye cream about 5 min. to soak in, I sweep Kiehl's under my eyes from the outer to the inner undereye area and very gently pat the area for a few seconds. I wait another 5 min. before applying concealer, but if my undereye still seems oily, I gently blot a tissue there before applying concealer.

Conditioner -Garnier - Sleek and Shine Fortifying Deep Conditioner
violetsrblu 2/13/2010 2:12:00 AM
I went prematurely gray and have been home coloring my shoulder length hair every 4-5 weeks for over 20 years. I also get highlights about twice/year. As you can imagine, my hair is extremely damaged and frizzy. However, everyone, including my hair stylist, tells me I have beautiful hair. My secret is using Garnier Sleek and Shine Fortifying Deep Conditioner after every other shampoo for the past 4 years. It makes my hair soft and shiny and gets rid of the frizziness. I occasionally try out the expensive salon brands that are targeted for very damaged hair, but none of them are better than this deep conditioner.

Treatments (Eye) -Bliss Labs - The Youth As We Know It Eye Cream

Ah, it sounded so promising: •Multi-active age minimizers address fine lines, wrinkles, firmness, dullness and dehydration. •Bliss The Youth As We Know It Eye Cream reduces dark circle by encouraging the elimination of shadow-producing substances. •Oxygen boosters stimulate and rejuvenate, while gentle exfoliants smooth and soften texture of under eye skin. •Contains clinical levels of ten active age fighting ingredients. •Under eye area appears revived and refreshed with fewer visible lines and enhanced hydration. •For maturing eyes. Fragrance free. I have all of the aforementioned problems, used this eye cream twice/day until it was gone, but I saw no signicant improvements.

Treatments -StriVectin - SD by Klein-Becker
violetsrblu 2/13/2010 1:04:00 AM
This is a review for StriVectin Neck cream. It is not miraculous, but it works well enough for me to buy the full size jar after trying a sample. My results were immediate - the rings around my 50 yr. old neck were less pronounced and my slightly loose skin was noticably tightened. I noticed that my neck looked better in a recent pic than in one that was taken 3 years ago. It's expensive, but I think that a jar would last over 2 months; I have been using this cream twice/day for about 6 weeks and have about 1/3 left. You don't have to slather a lot on your neck. This is how I like to apply it: I massage a small dollop on my neck rings and another small dollop around the base of my neck. Then I spread it over the rest of my neck by stroking upward several times for each section, starting from the base of my neck.

Treatments (Eye) -MD Forte - skin rejuvenation eye cream
violetsrblu 2/13/2010 12:47:00 AM
As I neared age 50, wrinkles and cross-hatching fine lines appeared around my eyes. I tried numerous antiaging eye creams that seem to do little more than provide moderate moisture. This eye cream got a lot of positive reviews here at MUA, so I decided to try it. As many reviewers have experienced, the skin around my eyes looked awful at first. The lines were more pronounced and my skin was bright red, sore and appeared dehydrated. I took the advice to ride it out for a few days and layer a hydrating eye cream over it. Well, after a week of applying it every night, I saw no improvement, so I stopped the treatment. 24 hours later, the redness, soreness and dryness went away, and I was elated to see that my wrinkles were about 50% improved and the cross-hatching fine lines were very faint or disappeared in some areas. I guess my undereye skin is very sensitive, cos after using this eye cream for 9 mos, I still can't apply it daily w/o experiencing the aforementioned skin problems. However, I can apply it every other night w/o adverse effects and still maintain my good results.

Treatments (Eye) -Promaxyl - Eyelash Renewal serum Rapidlash
violetsrblu 9/14/2009 12:40:00 AM
I decided to try out Rapid Lash Eyelash Renewal Serum before forking over big bucks for Latisse. I was pretty cynical about its effects on me, but after 3 weeks of daily applications, I could see an increase in length, although not in thickness. The ends of my upper lashes used to barely peep out from between my eyelash curler, but now about 1/4" poke out. I have sensitive skin, so I did go thru an initial 5 day period of having red, slightly swollen (no itching) skin around my eyes. *Update - After 6 weeks, my eyelashes grew so long and curled upward, I never used the eyelash curler again and I decreased the application from daily to about 3x/week.

Treatments (Eye) -Neutrogena - Ageless Essentials Continuous Hydration Eye Cream
violetsrblu 9/14/2009 12:19:00 AM
Every antiwrinkle eye cream that I've ever tried has never been moisturizing enough to alleviate the crepiness under my eyes, so I've been searching for something to apply over my treatments. This Neutrogena eye cream has been the best so far. I let my antiwrinkle cream soak in for about 5 min and then I gently pat in the Neutrogena cream. It soaks in immediately and my undereye skin looks very hydrated. I've experienced no irritation and my concealer goes on smoothly. I took off a lippie, cos the hydration is only continuous for about 4 hours and I need to reapply it again.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Beautiful
violetsrblu 5/30/2008 1:17:00 AM
I first smelled this on my sister-in-law back in the 80's, and I immediately ran out and bought a bottle. Beautiful has been my fave among my collection ever since then. I've always received compliments from strangers, mainly men, who want to know what I'm wearing so they can purchase it for their sweeties. It seems to last a long time on me and can be too overpowering, so I spray the air and step into it.

Concealers -Dermablend - Cover Creme - Cream
violetsrblu 5/29/2006 2:49:00 AM
The spokeswoman for Dermablend was making an appearance at Macy's and I asked for her advice on the correct color for my skin tone. She immediately said, "True beige and use the colorless setting powder". Whoa, she really hit the mark! It truly blended in perfectly with my skin. I think that it is very important to have a salesclerk with expertise on this product to recommend your best match for your skin tone in order to be truly satisfied with this concealer. I usually use it only to cover my eye circles and skin imperfections, but occasionally I will use it as a foundation. Whenever I do that, I have never failed to get compliments on my "perfect and beautiful skin" by strangers of both genders and all ages from teen and up. I am 46 years old and have sun damage from living most of my life in a Florida beach town. Despite the compliments, I won't wear it often, because it does feel heavy on your face and I hate that feeling. Dermablend does seem to resist water and sweat, but it rubs off easily if your skin is oily, like on my T zone. I haven't found a concealer yet that doesn't accentuate my lines and wrinkles and Dermablend is no exception. I do feel that it's not as bad as the other concealers as long as you use the setting powder and no other powder brands. I am still prone to acne and Dermablend doesn't seem to cause problems as long as I remove it completely and wash my face well at the end of my day. The price is fairly reasonable, b/c it will last a long time if you don't use it as a foundation daily (I only have to purchase it about every 3 years).

Hair Color -Clairol - Nice n Easy - Gray Solution
violetsrblu 5/29/2006 1:38:00 AM
I am more than 50% gray and have extremely resistant gray hair. Every hair color that I've ever tried left some uncolored and the color on the rest would quickly fade away . This product covered all of my gray and there is very little fading. I am pleased with the results and will definitely use this product again. I do agree with the previous reviewer that the color outcome will be darker than expected. I used the medium brown and the result was a very dark brown, so I plan to purchase a lighter shade next time.
