Moisturizers -SkinMedica - ULTRA SHEER MOISTURIZER

I also use this over thier Retinol Product and I find that it sinks in quickly (no sticky, greasy residue!), has no perfumy smell, and doesn't break me out. This product does what it's supposed to do, no more and no less. I will repurchase.

Treatments -SkinMedica - RETINOL COMPLEX
rated 5 of 5
vickyc123 3/3/2006 4:45:00 AM

This is the first and only retinol product I've used and I have no plans on seeking out others. This product is truly amazing! For the past 1/2 year I've had some pretty damaging acne breakouts that have left brigh red marks. The acne is long gone, but the marks remained up until I started using this.

Like another reviewer mentioned, it only takes a pea-sized amount to cover my face, and it sinks in quickly. I do use the Ultra Sheer Moisturizer along with this because it leaves me with some minor dry patches, but other than that.... this stuff has been nothing short of amazing for me!

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
rated 3 of 5
vickyc123 1/11/2006 5:02:00 AM

I have mixed feeling about this product. On the plus side it will remove the most stubborn waterproof mascara with ease, but on the down side it's ridiculously greasy and leaves behind a film like you wouldn't believe! I would consider this a great product if it wasnt for the terrible greasy mess it leaves behind.

I give this the full 5 lippies for effectiveness, but -1 for the greasyness and -1 for the price. There are removers out there that are just as good, without the greasy mess, and for less money.

Foundations -Clinique - Continuous Coverage
rated 5 of 5
vickyc123 1/11/2006 4:52:00 AM

I've had this tube for about 3 years now and I'm barely 1/2 way through it. This product comes in a large plastic tube and is a very thick cream that is highly pigmented to be used for concealing imperfections, which leads me to believe that some of the reviews here are for a different product entirely.

This works wonders on my heriditary dark circles and any discoloration anywhere else. The color selection is limited but I was VERY surprised that the 08 Creamy Glow (which looks ORANGE) is a perfect match for my LLL skin (MAC NC20, NARS Deauville) and blended in seamlessly. I've never experienced any creasing, caking or slipping that I have with other concealers and would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for 'Continuous Coverage' of hard to conceal imperfections. You can't beat the price (about $16 for a huge amount of product) I would definitely repurchase!

Mascara -Stila - Major Lash Mascara
rated 4 of 5
vickyc123 1/10/2006 4:35:00 PM

This is a good, basic, every-day kind of mascara. It's not dramatic in the slightest, but the price is right ($9.50), it doesn't smudge or flake and it holds a curl pretty well considering it's a non-waterproof mascara. I consider this a step above drugstore, but not quite up to playing with the big gals in the Department Store. For a truly amazing Stila mascara, that also has an attractive price, try Major Lash's big sister Lash Visor!

Mascara -Stila - Lash Visor (New- Fall 2004)
rated 5 of 5

I can't believe how much I love this mascara! I've been a Dior Maximeyes fan for a long time and thought I'd never find anything comparable. Well, I did. not only is this mascara better than Maximeyes, it's less then 1/2 the price!

For regular every day all I need is to curl my lashes and apply one coat. (I use 2 coats for a more dramatic evening look.) That's it. My lashes come out long, seperated, defined and they stay curled all day and night until I remove my makeup. This has never flaked, smudged or given me spider lashes. I seriously can not say enough good things about this product. The one and only drawback is that it's not the easiest to remove. A good makeup remover is needed for this.

Blush -NARS - Gina
rated 3 of 5
vickyc123 12/16/2005 5:13:00 AM

This blush is described as a Sheer, Matte, Tangerine by NARS's website and I totaly agree. The color is true, but it just doesn't work well on me without a tan. I'm a HUGE NARS fan, but this one I just can't seem to get in to.

I'm Deauville in NARS foundation and this blush is just plain orange on me. I was hoping that it would have a smoother texture like the other NARS matte blushes, but unfortunately it was just plain chalky. This *may* work better for darker skinned ladies but the chalky texture of it is a big downer.

Eye Makeup Remover -Biotherm - Biocils Eye Makeup Remover Gel
rated 2 of 5
vickyc123 12/6/2005 4:26:00 PM

I've been wanting to try this for a while now since I'm a big Biotherm skin care fan. I received a 1oz GWP of this recently and I'm pretty disappointed. It's a gel formula that like most others, needs to be put on a cotton pad and swiped across the eye area. It took a few passes to wipe my mascara (Biotherm, haha.. non-waterproof) off of my lashes, but it still left a bit here and there. It also didn't do much in the way of removing my eyeliner (also not waterproof).

As others have said in their reviews it's a nice gel that feels 'cool' on the skin, but that's about all. My eye makeup wasn't taken all the way off and it left my entire eye area feeling dry and tight (odd for Biotherm!). The only plus that I can think of is that it didn't leave a greasy residue, and there was no heavy fragrance like a lot of removers have. I will not purchase and can not recommend.

Eyeliner -Avon - Glimmersticks in Emerald
rated 5 of 5
vickyc123 12/2/2005 5:14:00 AM

I buy this one when I have easy Avon access. It has the *Avon* stigma attached to it, but it really is a great product. The glimmerstick draws a nice line, as thick or thin as I want it, and it stays put! I love the color of this one especially. It's described by avon as Warm / Shimmer and it's a very nice shade of green that does wonders for brown eyes!

The liner is softer and easier to apply then both MAC Powerpoints, and Make Up For Ever Pearly Pencils. But it lasts just as long. It's in between Powerpoints and Pearly liners for smudgyness. (Mac is somewhat smudgy on me and MUFE doesn't budge without soap). Will definitely repurchase again especially for $2.99! This 'retails' for $6.00 but they're almost always on sale as either 50% off, or BOGOF.

The glimmerstick draws a nice line, as thick or thin as I want it, and it stays put! I love the color of this one especially. Only NARS lliquid eyeliner in Silkwood compares, but I prefer the Avon because of it's ease of use and sometimes I'm just too lazy to put on a liquid eyeliner.

Pressed Powders -Avon - Personal Match
rated 5 of 5
vickyc123 12/2/2005 4:57:00 AM

I can't believe I'm about to give this a 5 LIPPIE rating, but I am. My mom lent me her compact a few weeks back and I was very hesitant to use it because a) it's *AVON* and b) my skin has recently become acne prone and EVERYTHING seems to piss it off lately.

But I tried it and it worked just as well, if not better than my usual MAC Blot powder. I was shocked. The color stays true, blots away the oilies, is sheer enough that I can put it everywhere I need to and it wont tone down the color of my blush or bronzer, it doesn't cake or streak, I haven't had any new breakouts or skin aggrivation when using this product (my face has been clearing up because of something seperate), or any of the bad stuff that usually happens with cheap powders. Even the color match is good, which is very hard for me to find. I have light olive skin, leaning more towards the yellow side (NARS Deauville). I like this powder so much that my mom ordered me one for myself (she wanted hers back, haha), and I will definitely repurchase! I got this on sale for $6.99, but even for the retail price of $9.00 it's a STEAL!

Blush -NARS - The Multiple in Riviera
rated 5 of 5
vickyc123 11/28/2005 7:36:00 AM

This is a God-Aweful Sparkling SHOCKING Pink in the tube which made me cringe in the store. Thankfully, this doesn't wear like that in the slightest once it's applied. I apply this with a VERY light hand directly to the skin, then blend where needed. Comes out a perfect flush every time with VERY minimal sparkle. I was searching for a replacement on my beloved MAC Pink Glow blush that has been discontinued. NARS Anjelika, though very nice, was way too sparkly for my taste. This fits the bill perfectly, even on my break-out prone, light olive, LLL skin. Will definitely repurchase if this ever runs out or gets lost.

Lip Gloss -Philosophy - Cinnamon Buns Lip Shine
rated 4 of 5
vickyc123 11/22/2005 3:20:00 PM

YUM! What a great smelling gloss! I was lucky enough to get the full 0.5oz size as a GWP recently and I'm very glad I did. This isn't something I would normally buy myself... a clear gloss that smells like cinnamon buns, hehe.. no. But this goes very nicely with my coordinating 3-in-1 and it smells just like a fresh from the oven Cinnamon Bun. Overall it's a nice clear gloss that actually has some lasting power, and you can't beat the smell. I took off one lippie because it's very sticky.

Lip Gloss -DuWop - Venom Flash in Gold
rated 1 of 5
vickyc123 11/22/2005 2:40:00 PM

I can't believe all the positive reviews on this product. I'm giving this 1 lippie simply because it does absolutely nothing aside from just being a clear gloss. My lips tingeled for a whopping 15 seconds and I had absolutely no visible change in color, size or fullness of my lips. I may as well just buy a $0.99 clear gloss for that.

There are much better (and better priced) lip-plumping products out there. This one was useless and overpriced, unfortunately.

Fragrances -Demeter - Mojito
rated 4 of 5
vickyc123 11/19/2005 6:12:00 AM

If you've ever had a really good Mojito, you will appreciate this PMU! I don't like my Mojitos with too much mint, but with plenty of lime and sugar and this smells very true. Like most other PMUs, it fades out to almost nothing after a few hours, but it does last on my clothes and in my hair until the next time I wash it, so that's a plus. Definitely another great, fun, summer scent from Demeter!

Mojito - light rum over crushed lime wedges and sugar, topped with mint sprigs, with a splash of gingerale and/or club soda. yum!
