Lotions/ Creams -La Maison de la Vanille - Vanille de Divine Tropiques Body Lotion
vfer 3/10/2013 10:19:00 AM
I love the Vanille Divine des Tropiques Fragrance by La Maison de la Vanille fragrance and wanted to try the lotion and the shower gel. The lotion and the gel smell NOTHING like the original fragrance. There is a cheap, plastic smell with a touch of jasmine. Don't order these online, try to test them in a store if you can. maybe I got fakes or something.

I just can't stand the odor. Super fruity and lingers all night. I won't buy it again.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverCreme Cleansing Conditioner
vfer 10/25/2012 12:55:00 PM
I LOVE the fragrance of the EverCreme line. Sadly, all of them made my fine hair dry, brittle and actually stiff at the ends. It turned my hair into straw and it took a few argan oil treatments to get it back to normal.

Pros:
Made my grays and highlights very bright and shiny. Reduces brassiness.
Cons:
Strong fragrance that lasts for days on my hair.
Biggest Con: Made my hair fall out by the handfuls. I had to stop using it!

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Slice of Nature - Virgin Argan Oil
vfer 10/11/2011 3:29:00 PM
My HG moisturizer! I've been using the "Slice of Nature Virgin Argan Oil: 100% Pure, Raw, Organic" for about six months and love it! With my acne-prone skin, I NEVER thought I'd be putting oil on my face. From the very first use, it felt soothing and nourishing to my skin. The oil doesn't feel greasy and sinks in after a few minutes. There is a nutty odor which dissipates quickly. After about a month of use, I noticed some fine lines were softening. I don't expect my hard-earned wrinkles to disappear, but like it when a product softens their appearance. (FYI, I also use Renova and the Alpha Hydrox Souffle.) This argan oil gives my skin a nice glow and moisturizes without causing any breakouts. In fact, it seems to keep my skin clearer. I also use it on my hair and hands with good results. I did try another brand, Watts, and I didn't like it as much. The Watts brand didn't seem as soothing and got into my eyes and bothered them. The Slice of Nature Argan Oil doesn't bother my eyes if put near that area. (I never put anything too close to my eyes as they are extremely sensitive.) I like the pump dispenser as it won't spill. This product is available from their site or from Amazon. ***UPDATE: 10/12*** I have to update my glowing review. I did find that the oil migrates in to and irritates my eyes. I still use it, but keep it well away from my eyes.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Slice of Nature Organic 100% Pure Real Vanilla Shea Butter
vfer 5/14/2011 10:39:00 AM
I ordered two shea butters from Slice of Nature. The East African Niloteca and the Real Vanilla scented. I was very disappointed with the texture. Both are VERY grainy and gritty. Not just a few grits here and there, probably 75% grit and 25% butter. The grains of hardened shea butter are hard to rub in. I can rub it in my palms for over a minute and still have grains that fall on to the floor. Not very appealing. I'll use it up though. I contacted the vendor who informed me that there was nothing wrong with the product, only with my expectations.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverPure Moisture Shampoo

I fell for the idea of no sulfites, etc. This shampoo made my hair limp AND flyaway at the same time. Not too crazy about the smell. The companion conditioner smells even worse.

Conditioner -L'Oreal - EverPure Moisture Conditioner

I should have smelled this in the store. The fragrance is VERY strong and lingers for days. It just too much and overpowers any fragrance you might wear that day. Even the DH noticed. Didn't do much for my color-treated, find hair. Not really moisturizing.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Cashmere Vanilla Jasmine [DISCONTINUED]
vfer 1/12/2010 4:12:00 PM
I love this fragrance. I've been on a vanilla kick for a few years. I love this and also the VS Vanilla Lace. I had spritzed it on a little fabric reading glasses case in my purse. Every time I took out the case, I smelled the fragrance and thought, "Yummm!" I noticed the Parfum Intimes section disappearing at the stores. A VS rep said thy are discontinuing several of the Parfum Intimes line, so I loaded up during the Annual Sale - 50% off.

Lipstick -Cover Girl - CG Continuous Color in Really Red
vfer 11/12/2009 1:59:00 PM
This is my HG lipstick! I decided to go for red and #575 is red! I can see why the color wouldn't appeal to everyone, but it looks good on me. I've tried so many lipsticks that creep in to my lip lines and this one doesn't budge. MAC matte lipsticks crept slowly and shockingly in the lines, even when I used a lip liner. CC RR is not moisturizing, but not drying either. I LOVE that it stains my lips and the color lasts. I've stocked up. Seeing as no one else really likes Really Red, it will probably be discontinued.

Misc Beauty Tools -Shu Uemura - Eyelash Curler
vfer 8/21/2009 10:26:00 AM
I bought a Shu Uemura curler several years ago based on great reviews here and elsewhere. I thought it was OK. I had to fool with it a lot to get to all my lashes. The curl didn't last all day.
I lost my Shu recently and bought a cheapo Revlon gold, cushioned-handle curler at Walgreen's. The Revlon works great, so much better than the Shu Uemura. The Revlon catches all my lashes and the curl lasts a long time. Overnight, if I heat the curler.
