I wouldn't normally write a review about an antiperspirant but I feel compelled to because of my experience with this product. I started to use this during the summer this year because I live in a very hot and humid state. I am not a person who sweats a lot but I wanted extra dryness protection because when you're in the sun it's inevitable. One more about a month into using this product I got an underarm cyst the size of a pea that soon because the size of an almond. It was sore and painful and I went to my doctor who put me on antibiotics. I had never in my life had an underarm cyst before. I continued to use the product and to my surprise, I kept getting cysts under both arms, in different places. Sometimes they would get painful and other times they would seem to grow and then go away. I finally realized it was the DOVE antiperspirant. I switched to Secret's clinical strength and have not had the cysts since. It kind of freaks me out to think that an antiperspirant could cause cysts...what kind of ingredients are in there that are making this happen? I enjoyed the scent of the product and it was nice overall, but I can't use it because of the cysts.
Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid

This sunscreen is the best I've ever used. It has a miraculous way of keeping skin matte for hours on end, even when I wear it to lay out in the extreme heat by the pool. My makeup still looks great even after laying out and I think it's because this product keeps skin matte. My best friend has used it too and she loves it. The best thing about this product is the liquidy consistency which makes application very easy, and you don't have to use a lot of the product at all to cover your entire face. I always wear this before I go to the pool or if I am going to be in the sun for a long period of time (ie: I don't wear it daily if I am going to be in the office all day.) I also like that it doesn't have a heavy scent, feels light on the skin and overall just looks like you aren't wearing sunscreen at all. I will definitely repurchase.
Lip Treatments -Christian Dior - Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm

I've wanted to purchase Dior's Lip Glow gloss for awhile now but could never justify the $30 price tag. Once I discovered that the gloss makes lips a pretty pink shade (kind of like O-Glow) I was sold because it wasn't just a clear gloss anymore. So I bought it at Sephora with my 15% off and opened it the moment I got out of the store and happily applied it to my lips. Within seconds my friend said "wow, your lips are super bright pink" and I looked in the mirror and sure enough they were a brighter pink than I'm used to, but it looked cute. A couple of minutes later I started to feel a tingling sensation on my lips which by the minute turned to a burning sensation. Not good. I know lip plumpers like Too Faced Lip Injection can make your lips feel this way (which I why I never use plumping glosses) but I didn't expect this from the Dior gloss since it is not a plumping gloss. I basically immediately returned to Sephora and though I hated to return it (because I wanted to love it)...I'm also not going to pay nearly $30 for something that HURTS my lips.
My friend let me use some of her Morrocan Oil. She gave me enough for about 4-5 blowouts. I must say, that this oil is incredible. It makes my hair look like all of the split ends and damage is gone. Also, when I run a flatiron through it, it gives off the most incredible sheen and gives a great texture to my hair. I have medium/fine hair, but a lot of it and it is damaged. I wash and blowdry/faltiron about 2-3 times a week and I really believe this improves my hair and nourishes it so that further damage doesn't happen. I am going to buy my own bottle. My best friend also uses the shampoo and conditioner from this brand, and loves it!
This is probably going to be my HG eyeliner. I have always struggled to find a liner that will stay on and that doesn't smudge when I apply it to the bottom on my eye. This eyeliner is like a miracle liner. I use the slanted brush to apply it, and it lasts all day. I can even sleep in it and when I wake up it is not smudged and still is on for the most part. I will more than likely never use pencil liner again. This product has changed the way I think about eyeliner. I am BIG into eyeliner, and this is the solution I have been waiting for.
Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime Bronze Airbrush-Effect Dry Mist BODY
veronabrit 10/27/2008 10:15:00 PM
This is one of the best self tanners I have ever used- it gives a nice, even tan and the airbrush spray dries very quickly. I have my fiance do my back and the rest I can do myself. The color is not AS dark as the gel and lotion version, but it is a perfect glow and does make you look much more tan than your regular skin tone. I don't like gradual tanners because there is no instant gratification- that is why I love this product- instant results and it is always streak free! even when I use the gel version (which i also like but takes forever to dry and can streak) I still use the airbrush on my feet and other places that get uneven and the two products can work beautifully together. If you have never used self tanner or have used lotions and don't like them, i would recommend using the airbrush spray. It is the closest you can come to a professional airbrush tan application-but in the comfort of you own home.
This is the single best spot treatment I have ever used. I used to use the entire line, but once I got on the pill my cystic acne went away. However, I still use this product every single night (so does my fiance) to spot treat pimples and/or potential pimples. It honestly clears them pretty much overnight. I dot on the masks in areas where I am prone to break out (mainly my chin) and it is like it prevents the pimples before they even start. My fiance loves it too. We both laugh because we go to bed with little white dots on our faces, but it is better to have clear skin than breakouts! 100% recommended.
Brows -Anastasia Of Beverly Hills - Eye Lights Shimmer in Sand Shimmer
veronabrit 9/7/2008 5:10:00 PM
Recently, I bought the sephora eye brightener pencil. I thought it was pretty good until I saw this product and ended up exchanging the sephora pencil for this one. The sephora brand pencil was more chalky and more of a pastel pink color whereas the Anastasia pencil is a beautiful, sheer shimmer pencil that truly brightens up your eyes. I use it under my eyes and also on the inner corners to give them a "woken up" look. This pencil can also be used as a brow highlighter and even as a shimmery eyeshadow. You could even use it on the upper bow of your lip and in the center of your lip to define lips and make them look fuller- very versatile. Basically, with the sephora pencil i had to really blend to get the chalky pink color away and leave just a highlighted shimmer, but with this pencil it is not at all chalky, just a gorgeous shimmer that would flatter most skin tones.
OMG! This is my HG bronzer. I used to swear by Hula by Benefit but I have a friend who introduced me to this bronzer and I gave it a try and have been in love ever since. I use this with the Sephora brand bronzer brush. I will admit that the first time I used it, I was a bit shocked because it felt darker than my other bronzer (it is not). I realized I had used some self tanner on my face the night before I used the new bronzer, and this made me darker, not the bronzer. Laguna is a gorgeous, sheer bronzer that gives the right amount of color and looks good on pretty much everyone. I use it on my nose, cheeks, forehead and chin (really lightly, just to accent my features and give myself a *glow*). I get a lot of compliments and this bronzer looks fantastic in photos, especially with a little pink blush layered over the bronzer just on the apples of your cheeks. Overall, this is 100% my HG bronzer and I highly recommend it. You will notice it has a shimmer to it, but amazingly, it does not show up on your skin. Your skin looks glowing, not shiny or sparkly.
A nice, very sheer light pink. Along with OPI's "sweetheart" this is my go-to neutral shade, especially in the summer for my nails. This is a bit more sheer than sweetheart and lasts long and chips don't really show. A great neutral that looks good on any nails.
I bought this mascara in the black, waterproof version. I really like it! It makes my lashes long and nice. I used to use L'oreal voluminous mascara but I got tired of it and a friend with fabulous lashes told me about this mascara. It is expensive, but for the summer I need a good waterproof mascara. My only complaint is that as the day wears on, sometimes it smudges onto my brow bone area...I don't blame the mascara though, because i use a lash curler (Shu Uerma, amazing!) that makes my lashes sky high and so they kind of touch my skin above my brow bone. I
Moisturizers -Cosmedicine - Medi-Matte Oil Control Lotion
veronabrit 6/30/2008 8:40:00 PM
Ok...I don't know how I feel about this product. At first, I thought I hated it because it did not work as well as i had hoped...but I gave it a chance and started using it daily for a week and I must say, i think it works pretty well. I know this product has a lot of bad reviews, but I think its because you go into it hoping that you face will be matte all day with no blotting, considering it is a 42$ lotion. The truth is, if you have oily skin or an oily t zone (my t zone tends to get shiny in the summer), this lotion can reduce the oil and leave you matte longer, but not all day. I still occasionally blot, but a lot less than I used to. Also, you can apply more during the day (a tiny thin layer) and it makes you matte again. Note: I have pretty clear skin *knock on wood* and an oily t-zone (but not crazy oily) I use this product on my nose and chin only. I use my regular moisturizer on the rest of my skin (cheeks and forehead). Do NOT put this product over your regular moisturizer, only use it on clean skin. I find my makeup looks the same with this product under it. I know a lot of people say it messes up their makeup, but I am using such a tiny amount that it does not seem to affect my makeup at all, in fact, it makes it look matte and smooth.
I really like this shampoo...it gives me volume without that dry feeling. It smells good and doesn't leave my hair feeling coated, which is nice. Overall, for a drugstore shampoo, it is great and does what it says it will...it gives you volume that lasts but doesn't dry out your hair or make it greasy really quickly. I can usually make a blowout last for 3 days using this shampoo. I also ONLY use conditioner from the nape of my neck, down to the ends of my hair which puts less product and less weight on your roots. I recommend only using conditioner on the ends of you hair for the best results with ANY volumizing shampoo.
Styling Products -TRESemme - Instant Heat Tamer Spray
veronabrit 6/30/2008 8:30:00 PM
I LOVE this spray! I brush my hair when i get out of the shower and then i spray this from the mid part of my hair to the ends (NOT on my roots). I feel this product makes my hair softer and smoother than before I started to use it...it makes it feel more...manageable and controlled. I truly recommend this spray. I have read other heat-protectant reviews (like CHI and GHD), I have tried both of those sprays which made me hair feel coated and kind of straw-like and stiff. This spray makes my hair smooth and soft!
OMG! I always used a revlon eyelash curler thinking all eyelash curlers were the same...boy was I WRONG! I used to have to heat up my revlon curler for it to even make a curl. The Shu Uemura eyelash curler is SO amazing it curls you lashes sky-high with just one squeeze. This is worth every single penny! I will never use another lash curler!
