Conditioner -Aveda - Madder Root Conditioner

So I'm a natural brunette and don't have any colored bits in my hair. some golden highlights from the sun this is it. I just wanted to enhance my hair color a bit, so it doesn't look so boring, but I really never want to color it. I read all the great reviews here about this conditioner and so I went to the Aveda Salon to try it out. I hesitated, because of the price to buy it straigth away, but at the salon they washed my hair with the shampoo and conditioner for free to try it out. The stylist there said she never tried it out on someone with uncolored and brunette hair, so we were both excited about the results. They let the conditioner sit for about 10 minutes. The results were FANTASTIC!!!!! This was actually exactly the result of "coloring" that i hoped to achieve!!!! I love being able to keep my natural, individual haircolor and just adding a bit of an exciting reddish tone to it!! It is subtle, so my actual haircolor remains unchanged, just the normal blonde hightlight from the sun have turned into subtle light red hightlights and the parts of my hair that are darker got a bit of a subtle darker reddish tint. And it only was in my hair ten minutes!!!! I think if I would leave this in over night I wuold turn really noticable redred!!! My friends asked me if I colored my hair, but said it looks so natural and effortless. It is subtle but definitly noticable, enhances your hair with reddish tones, but doesn't lay over your natural color. I really loved the results and bought it straight away after trying it at the salon (they said the conditioner is enough, the shampoo doesn't really deposit color). Just watch out that when you use it, you put in the conditioner evenly all over your hair, maybe comb through, becuase if you don't it will come out a bit streaky. This is what happened to me after the first time I used it myself at home. The ONLY small downside is that, as a conditioner itself which it also claims to be, it does an average job, there are better conditioners out there, its more for depostiting color effects. Also it is quite pricey. Nevertheless I would buy it again because the effect is great and exactly what i wanted, not too strong, not too subtle.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Color Surge Duo in Strawberry Fudge
rated 4 of 5

I love this color!!! I have searched for a loooooong time for the perfect new daytime color for me as I got a bit bored with my MAC naked lunch and my Shiseido H12 lemon sugar. The Shiseido is bit too boring and has no other color than subtle gold in it and the Naked lunch sometimes is a bit too pinkish for me. I searched all brands for a long time from estee lauder to bobbi brown, dior,...you name it. but they were all a either too boring (like the shiseido, goldish, but just not very exciting), or too pigmented and popping for the daytime look i wanted to achieve. The strawberry fudge is right in the middle and perfect!!!!! It looks a bit different on the eye than in the pan. It will actually come out as a peachy gold, really lovely and just the right amount of shimmer. nice highlighter too! For light skintypes like me with brunette hair and blue eyes, i always think a subtle goldish tone with just a hint of color is the best daytime look and this is it! the only downside is that it builts up SOOO subtle. i always have to go over it like 3 or 4 times, thats a bit annoying. with the shiseido i only go over my lid once, but whatever, the result is definitly worth it!!!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
rated 3 of 5

this is an okay mascara, but it really doesn't blow me away. it looks messy quite quickly. it clumps and your lashes stick together immediatly if you don't apply it with a lot of patience. I will only use this on nights when i go out dancing and my eyes can use a bit of a drama look and nobody really sees if your mascara is applied properly. for that purpose its good. but fot the natural daytime look definitly not. for that it gives me a little bit too much of a fake, unnatural look. my lashes really stick upwards. i bought the volum express by maybelline some days later and i like it a lot better for the daytime because its basically the same effect, just a bit more turned down and natural. and it's cheaper too! i wish i would have bought another mascara other than that for my money.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask
rated 5 of 5
veroS 8/4/2009 1:46:00 PM

this is the best version of putting this mask on: i do it with one of these THERMOACTIVE MASKS from the drugstore (i use the garnier thermo active mask - both of this little package) and 6 aspirin (although you can definitly use less - 4 are enough actually). i let the aspirins dissolve in a tiny bit of water and then mix it with the masks. put it on face, neck, cleavage, upper arms and let it sit for about 20 minutes. et voilá: smoothest and most beautiful skin ever! my acne spots got definitly lighter after using this! i found out the trick with the aspirin in combo with these mask when i first tried out the aspirin mask. they didn't seem to dissolve in the first place and i got really frustrated and wanted to leave it and do the thermoactive mask instead. but after opening the package they started dissolving and i thought why not just mixing them. also it easy to understand the great results: the thermo active mask opens up your pores and lets the salicylic acid from the mask sink in even better while the zinc from these mask work great for you skin too!! so important is to use a thermoactive mask, it won't work as good with a normal mask. i am regular with microdermabrasion, i had several at the beauty salon and also i do the neutrogena kit at home. but really: nothing works like the aspirin mask! i am amazed because microderms at the beauty salon are really expensive and the results are the same with the aspirin mask! just don't do that too often, your skin needs to recover - not more than once a week probably.

Misc Beauty Tools -Shu Uemura - Eyelash Curler
rated 3 of 5

Well, I love Makeup. Getting this much reviewed curler was a must when my old one broke after years. But honestly: what else can a lash curler do other than... well curling lashes upwards. I was satisfied with my old one and it costed almost nothing. This one one ist superexpensive and what it does is: curling lashes just like my old one. Yes it fits my eyeform really good, yes it gives a nice curl and doesn't twitch. But there certainly isn't a 25 € difference between this one and normal drugstore ones. I mean just look at the design: all curlers look kind of the same, so don't expect wonders from the most expensive one. That's what I learned. It's just not worth it, especially if you can have the 'revlon' curler which will do the job just as good. It's a good curler but really: if you don't have much money and want to invest it well: rather splurge on a very good moisturizer than on this overpriced curler. Others will do the same job. And that you can't buy the silicone pads seems just outrageous to me!!!

Styling Products -TiGi - Bed Head Masterpiece Massive Shine Hairspray
rated 1 of 5
veroS 6/12/2009 9:57:00 AM

I hate this smell!! Such a strong, synthetic pineapple smell, it's just disgusting!!! It won't go away, and it even layers over my perfume! I gave it one lippie, cause as a hairspray it does its job (not much better than any other though) and it does add a tiny bit of shine, but THIS SMELL! If you like soft, nice and clean perfumes like estee lauder pure white linen or something, than this smelly bomb is not for you. I bought it because of the great reviews here, but this was just a total waste of almost 20€... .

Bronzers -Chanel - Soleil Tan de Chanel - 61 Desert Corail
rated 4 of 5
veroS 6/10/2009 3:46:00 PM

I really love this bronzer!!! I went through so many bronzers for my fair skin and blue eyes and there is no other color from any brand, that matches my skin so well and gives me such a healthy, beautiful look!! it so clean and chic!! the only con is that I have to apply several layers when I want very noticable results and this takes too much time. The downside really is the price, cause when you wear it everyday, it won't last too long sadly ;(... . Still, theres no other color, that is so perfect for cool skintones who want a subtle bronzing effect!!!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Naked Lunch
rated 4 of 5
veroS 6/10/2009 3:35:00 PM

I never liked pinkish eyeshadows as well and haven't bought one in years. When you don't get much sleep they will always reinforce your red eyes. But I heard that all the big makeup artists are working with this one and its supposingly perfect for anybody. So I went and bought this and am really surprised. I'm quite tanned right now and to my blue exes, this color is just absolutely perfect!! really really like it! gives a wonderful shimmer and really beachy and nice glow! Just for days with little sleep, I rather use my shiseido H1, cause the golden-brown shimmer won't draw the attention to red, tired eyes, like naked lunch probably will.

Primer/ Corrector -Clinique - Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector
rated 5 of 5
veroS 4/18/2009 7:42:00 AM

This is my first review - I just had to write it for this product! I love it! I have very light skin and sadly large pores and blackheads as well on cheeks and nose. The instant perfector makes them almost invisible!! It's amazing! For the first time I can leave the house without wearing a foundation PLUS it leaves my skin feeling supersilky, it doesn't wear off, gives a matte look (which you should always try to keep when you have problem skin like me) and I don't feel like I'm wearing a primer! Apply it in circles clockwise. then counter-clockwise as well for best results. I loved the Chanel blanc universel almost as much. Shame they take it off the market. The stuff in the dipenser is simply not as good as the stuff in the jar, it was more firm and therefore better cover. If you find one though and have very light skin buy it though!! It's wonderful too, gives a porcelain teint, just not as good for covering big pores like this clinique stuff!!
