Treatments -La Prairie - Cellular 3-Minute Peel
rated 5 of 5

Despite the ridiculously expensive price point of LaPrarie, my mom (who already has pretty perfect genes --> skin) swears by their products. I unfortunately don't have her perfect skin, so the next time she went to pick up her products I tried this 3-minute peel (after reading the reviews from MakeupAlley) and I love it. Smells quite fresh and flowery. Don't use the brush, the product's way too precious to wash out in a brush that soaks it up. After washing my face, I use a small spoon to scoop and then spread it on my face with my fingers. Instead of 3 minutes, I usually go up to 10 minutes and afterwards, my skin just gloooowwws the next day. My pores are less visible. I'm using it in conjunction (every 2-3 weeks) with Acanya (day) + RetinA (night) so am hitting my skin with a triple whammy--it's especially sensitive in other words, but trying to rid my face of scars! After all my semi-uninterest in skincare throughout highschool and college, I've decided that if I'm going to go out with a bare face, I might as well try to have fabulous skin. This 3-minute miracle def helps.

Eye Makeup Remover -Almay - Dual Phase Eye Makeup Remover
rated 2 of 5
verbivorous 1/31/2009 12:36:00 PM

So the Almay Dual Phase Eye Makeup Remover performed its job well, which was to remove my eye makeup. But it also stung my eyes like crazy, I was literally tearing from the pain, and was extra oily. My eyelashes were glittering with oil. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. ever.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Benetint
rated 4 of 5

Great great product. It leaves you with a natural looking flush and natural lip color. You can fool everyone into think you're a natural rosy-cheeked/lipped beauty! It lasts longer on my cheeks than my lips though. It smells pretty as well. The one thing I wish they'd fix is the packaging. I need something that will prevent clumsy me from wasting precious drops of this stain on my dresser (in case I knock it over.)

Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Rosebud Salve
rated 5 of 5
verbivorous 1/31/2009 12:18:00 PM

The packaging is precious and perfect. I'll admit -- the balm is kind of like glorified rose-scented Vaseline -- but I attribute the price tag (and the hype) to its cute packaging (so vintage!) and portability. I put this in my jean front pocket all the time, forget about it, and then remember to apply. By that time, my body heat has warmed it up so it glides on easily. I put it on my cuticles as well.

Lips -Biotherm - Aquasource Lèvres Moisutrizing Balm Protective Lip Care
rated 4 of 5
verbivorous 1/31/2009 12:11:00 PM

I love this thing to death! I'm so sad that they don't sell biotherm in the us anymore. I got a few free samples of this while sitting business class on Asiana Airlines and I'm so freaking glad I did. The peachy flowery scent is addicting and makes you want to apply the extra shiny (pretty!) and moisturizing gloss more often than necessary. I dab a little of this on after brushing my teeth and going off to bed. :)

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Original Lotion for Dry Skin
rated 4 of 5
verbivorous 1/31/2009 12:03:00 PM

Great lotion for the winter time when my skin is extra-parched. It's a pretty dense and rich lotion that I apply on my legs, knees, and elbows to soften and moisturize. It really does work... The scent is a bit heavy for me though -- I tend to go for lighter and more citrusy scents. Nonetheless, Nivea definitely served it's purpose during my first really cold winter in Massachussets.

Lotions/ Creams -Origins - Make a Difference Hand Treatment
rated 3 of 5

Love love love the orange blossom, fresh sweet scent of this lotion. It's a bit greasy on me and a bit pricey ($16) but I'd buy it again just so my hands can smell that delicious. It's quite good at softening my hands too... I've made my bottle last for nearly half a year now... I don't know what people mean about making the bottle longer-lasting. The packaging makes it easy to carry too. I might try out some different hand lotions but for now: Origins is the one!

Toners -LUSH - Tea Tree Water
rated 5 of 5
verbivorous 4/5/2008 1:46:00 AM

i looove this product. i like to use it after washing my face with lush fresh farmacy soap, which makes my face tight. this makes my face less tight, moisturizes, and gets rid of any oil. i think it's this product that's largely responsible for clearing up my acne. (but then again -- who knows? i may just have outgrown acne since i'm going past my teen years.) still i LOOOOVE this stuff. i usually spray the tea tree water on a cotton ball and apply and then spritz some on my face. it's refreshing, smells good, and doesn't sting.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Soft Coeur Massage Bar (The Honeymooner)
rated 5 of 5
verbivorous 12/16/2007 10:07:00 AM

this was one of my first LUSH purchases and one of my best ones. the honey/toffee/chocolate scent is MARRVELOUS and delectable. the chocolate chunks can be annoying and streak on your skin. so i try to buy bars with less chocolate in them. i love how easily it melts and moisturizes your skin. the scent stays on your skin long after so i get many compliments. one piece of random advice: don't try the white chocolate massage bar. LUSH advertised it as the "edible" version of soft coeur but the two massage bars smell nothing alike.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Flying Fox Shower Gel
rated 2 of 5
verbivorous 12/16/2007 10:00:00 AM

based on rave reviews of flying fox, i expected to be blown away by the jasmine scent. i really wasn't however. flying fox smells sweet and a little jasminey. it was O.K. in my book. but my mom and sister kept complaining that i smelled like "a grandma," like "mothballs" and hid it from me. i don't really mind since i wasn't crazy about the scent either. the flying fox shampoo is way too expensive.

the heavenly honey and toffee aroma makes the soap worth it. i love all of the honey scented products by LUSH and this one is no exception.

Lotions/ Creams -Sally Hansen - Spray On Shower Off Hair Remover
rated 1 of 5
verbivorous 12/16/2007 9:46:00 AM

to be crude: this stuff sucks. i'm pretty lazy about hair removal so i bought this in the hopes that my shaving days were over. wrong. i sprayed this on my legs and left it on for well-over the recommended 3 mins. when i washed it off, my legs remained hairy. and smelled like chemically hair-removal stuff. don't buy this product!

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Raspberry Sorbet 3-in-1
rated 4 of 5
verbivorous 12/16/2007 9:38:00 AM

I think KatieLynn (the reviewer below) said it best. But i'll share my own two scents. i love this 3-in-1. The raspberry scent isn't cloying or artificial. It's fresh and summery. Like all 3in1s, it's useful to pack when you're traveling and want to save up space. i'd buy it again if there weren't so many other 3in1s to try out.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clean & Clear - Oil Absorbing Sheets
rated 5 of 5
verbivorous 12/16/2007 9:11:00 AM

these are terrific at soaking up oil. they dont leave a powdery residue bhehind. and it's strangely satisfying to look at the powder blue color of the sheet turn clear as it soaks up the oil on your face. the only drawback is the price. i think it's a bit too high for the number of sheets. rice paper or the toilet-seat covers in public bathrooms can work just as well at oil-blotting.

Eye Makeup Remover -Almay - Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover Pads
rated 2 of 5
verbivorous 12/16/2007 9:04:00 AM

the pads effectively remove makeup but leave a gross greasy residue behind. the oil from the pads seeped into my eyes and made them tear up and sting. i wouldn't recommend this to contact or eyeglass-wearers.
