Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - rosehip seed oil
venteux 6/20/2011 2:00:00 PM
I LOVE this using this stuff. I had a really bad bug bite that left a big, red scar that looked like a welt. It was in a prominent place on my collarbone so I wanted to try something that would reduce or fade the scar. I've been using rosehip oil on it every night for the past week and so far the redness has completely disappeared and the scar is definitely fading. I don't think it will go away completely but it has definitely helped. This is really good stuff!

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Sweet Almond Oil
venteux 6/5/2011 10:07:00 AM
I love this! I've been making the switch to more natural and organic products (in my health and beauty routine as well as my diet!) and my naturopath recommended using sweet almond oil as a body moisturizer. It's awesome! At first I thought it would be really greasy, but it's really not. It absorbs quickly, and you only need a little dab here and there. I bought a 4 oz. bottle for $4.99 cdn and it's probably going to last me a long time! It just feels like a really rich and creamy body moisturizer. I'm hooked. I don't use it on my face and probably won't because I'm scared of clogged pores, etc. but as a body moisturizer I totally love it. I love that it's 100% natural and organic and am sticking with this from now on.

Liquid -Maybelline - Fit Me Foundation
venteux 3/14/2011 1:54:00 PM
It's my first day using this foundation and I am liking it so far. I've been using Shu uemura's foundation for awhile but it's just too expensive for my budget! I have sensitive skin with an oily t-zone and dry cheeks, and I don't find that this foundation makes me any oilier. The colour is a perfect match (I'm an NC35, and used 220). So far I haven't had any breakouts or reactions. The foundation is pretty sheer, and that's the way I like it, as I don't have a lot of blemishes. The bottle could use a pump, but at this price point (I bought it on sale for $7.99 CDN), I can't complain! I will continue using this unless I start getting irritations or breakouts. UPDATE: Broke out. Oh well. It's disappointing because I really did like this foundation. Back to Shu!

Moisturizers -Avene - Cleanance Antishine Regulating Lotion
venteux 3/14/2011 1:47:00 PM
This product definitely stopped the oiliness and shine in my t-zone. Usually by mid-day, I have to blot at least 2 times and then 2 more times in the afternoon as well, but after using this moisturizer, I really only have to blot once during the day! My only problem with it is that it's not moisturizing AT ALL. I have an oily and shiny t-zone but the rest of my face, especially my cheeks, is very dry. So I use another product just for my cheeks. I don't recommend this product for any dry-skinned gals.

Cleansers -Avene - Cold Cream Ultra-Rich Soap-Free Cleansing Bar
venteux 3/14/2011 1:42:00 PM
I was traveling for work and ran out of my usual cleanser, Avene gentle gel cleanser and saw this on the shelf for $9.00. As other reviewers have stated, it's pretty cheap compared to their other products so I thought I'd give it a try especially since I wouldn't be able to bring the full bottle cleanser on the plane with me after I bought it! I am now loving this cleanser. My face feels clean and I haven't had any breakouts or reactions from it. Also, my face doesn't feel dry or stripped of moisture after I use it. The only thing I don't like is the scent but it doesn't stop me from using it. I have now switched to this cleanser and will continue using it!

Moisturizers -Avene - skin recovery cream (US name: cream for intolerant skin)
venteux 2/4/2011 10:41:00 AM
I've been using this cream for months and I can clearly see a difference. It does feel a little heavy, but it absorbs quickly and is great for sensitive and intolerant skin. I still get the occasional hormonal breakout, but it's not due to this cream. I find it expensive for the amount of product you get. I've taken off a lippie because of the packaging. Although it's a great concept that they've created a package where they try to minimize the dirt and bacteria that will get into the tube, I can never get it work properly. Maybe it's just me since I haven't seen any other reviewers complain about this, but I find it hard to squeeze the right amount of cream out. I always end up squeezing A LOT more than I need and wasting it! And since I'm paying so much for such a small tube, all of that wasted cream just hurts my wallet. So while I do like the cream, the packaging turns me off so I'm going to see if I can something else.

Concealers -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Concealer [DISCONTINUED]
venteux 7/20/2010 10:53:00 AM
This product feels great when I put it on. It covers my undereye circles really well, and it lasts all day without creasing or settling into fine lines. I took off one lippie because I can't find a perfect colour match. After reading other reviews, I'm going to try using it as an eyeshadow primer too!

Treatments -Avene - Diacneal Acne Treatment [DISCONTINUED]
venteux 7/20/2010 10:42:00 AM
This product did wonders for my skin! I was using differin xp gel for 3 months a little while ago, and it helped clear up my acne-prone skin. After I stopped using it though, the pimples came back. I was about to get another prescription for it when I read about this product on the boards. I started using it a few weeks ago, and it's just as good! It's not as strong as differin but this definitely works! And it's available at the drug store without a prescription, so it's much more convenient. I started to use it at night directly after I washed my face, but it irritated my skin and made it a bit dry, so now I put moisturizer on my face before applying this. It leaves yellow stains, so be careful. I use a q-tip and apply it only on areas where I have acne. It clears up the existing pimples (makes any pimples that appear go away after one or two days) and prevents new ones from appearing. I will definitely keep using this!

Conditioner -Jason Natural Cosmetics - Natural Apricot Conditioner - Super Shine
venteux 5/13/2010 3:27:00 PM
I was on the search for an inexpensive, natural conditioner and stumbled on this one. I've been using it for a couple of months now, and really like it. It works great. It smells good (although the scent doesn't last very long) and leaves my hair really soft and shiny. I will definitely keep using this (unless I get bored)!

Shampoo -LUSH - ultimate shine shampoo bar
venteux 5/13/2010 3:21:00 PM
I LOVE this shampoo. It makes my hair so soft and shiny. Like others have mentioned, it doesn't have much of a scent, but I don't mind at all. That's a small price to pay for the way my hair looks and feels! I have and will definitely buy this again. It's become my HG shampoo!

Liquid -Shu Uemura - Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation
venteux 5/13/2010 3:16:00 PM
I've tried a lot of foundations over the years, both DS and HE. This is probably one of the most expensive ones I've ever bought (such a small bottle!) My skin was acting up and everything was breaking me out. This foundation, however was great! I didn't get any breakouts or allergic reactions, and the colour match was perfect (I'm an NC 30-35, and I used #554). I did find that my face was very shiny and oily after a couple of hours though. That's the only complaint I have about this foundation. UPDATE: I'm on my third bottle of this so far. I've tried other brands to see if I could find something cheaper, but I keep going back to this because the others caused a reaction and/or break out. I also find that this foundation really accentuates the dry, flaky patches I get on my cheeks during the cold, Canadian winter months! But I still like and use it.

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Full Cover Concealer
venteux 12/9/2009 3:55:00 PM
Why haven't I tried this product before?? I feel like I've been on the hunt for an HG concealer forever. I used to use the concealer crayon from The Body Shop, but my skin is extremely dry lately due to Retinoids (I'm using Differin) and the pencil just doesn't work for me anymore, so I was looking for a liquid. I saw a review on this and went to try it out at Sephora. It's awesome! It covers so well, and lasts all day! At first I thought it was kind of pricey, but I realized you really only need very little! A little definitely goes a long way, so this tube will last me a long time, I think. Speaking of tubes...another lippie added because of the convenient and hygienic tube packaging. For reference, I'm an NC35 and I bought this concealer in #10.

Conditioner -LUSH - Coolaulin conditioner
venteux 12/7/2009 12:52:00 PM
I absolutely hated this product! It's supposed to smell like coconuts, and maybe there was a hint of it, but it really just smelled "smoky" to me. It also did nothing to condition my hair. I felt like I was just using water.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Pretika Sonic Dermabrasion Facial Care System (Clarisonic dupe)
venteux 12/1/2009 1:37:00 PM
I used the pretika for 3 weeks and was satisfied with it. I found that the brushes were really rough, but my skin seemed to handle it fine. I noticed an improvement with my acne after the first week, but then my acne came back. I continued using it though, because it made my face feel really clean. However, I just bought the clarisonic and can't believe I was ever happy with the pretika! The clarisonic brush is sooooooo much softer - there's no comparison! Now I feel like I've been using a toothbrush on my face when I was using the Pretika compared to the Clarisonic.

Treatments -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Moisture Serum
venteux 10/22/2009 11:03:00 AM
I've never used a serum before so I can't compare to other products. But I do really like this! The Body Shop was having one of those "buy two skincare products get one free" promos, and so I picked this up on a whim. As one reviewer said, once you start using a serum, you'll never go back, and she's right. What a difference it makes. My moisturizer isn't moisturizing enough for my dry cheeks (I have combo skin - oily t-zone but dry cheeks) so it's hard to find a good moisturizer that will tackle both problems. I started using this on my cheeks, and my dry patches are gone! I also have very sensitive, intolerant skin and this hasn't broken me out or irritated my skin at all. The texture's great, and it absorbs very well. I will definitely repurchase!
