Foundations -Revlon - Nearly Naked Foundation
velvetbuurns 2/22/2013 6:22:00 PM
Coverage: Medium (I used my finger after my first attempt with a blending brush failed) Finish: It was incredibly matte on my very dry skin and I ended up mixing it with a cream highlighter to combat it. Price: At $7.50 it was very affordable. Packaging Quality: The packaging is disappointing. There is no pump. Final verdict: It didn't dry out my face (I wear it with a primer), It covered up my redness and it still looked good after six hours of wear.

-Moisturizing -Makeup glided on (even on my nose, which is a problem area) -Makeup still looked great six hours later -Kept my skin hydrated -Hygienic (tube) packaging Overall, I love this primer. It's a bit pricey, I paid around $13 USD for it, but it's worth it.

This is a great lengthening mascara. This product provides no volume.

Foundations -Cover Girl - Covergirl and Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation
velvetbuurns 1/30/2013 2:39:00 AM
Great for my very dry skin post Accutane. This doesn't turn orange and the lightest shade works well for my very fair, cool toned complexion. This provides moderate coverage. (Definitely not full) The price is expensive for a drug store brand coming in at $13 at my local Walmart. Update: I'm beginning to suspect this is what is drying out my skin. I've been trying out a new foundation and yesterday I mixed the two. Rather than forgetting I was wearing foundation, my skin started to feel dry and itchy.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Extra Volume Collagen mascara
velvetbuurns 8/9/2012 5:53:00 PM
The brush is bulky, which is annoying, but I'm overrall satisfied with my purchase. I put this mascara first and follow up with L'Oreal Voluminous Fiber Lashes. I have naturally long lashes, but I'm definitely lacking volume. This gave me both, but I still like the false lash effect of layering. Once again, I have long lashes naturally, not sure how this would work on someone with short lashes.

Skincare - Body -Burt's Bees - Burt's Bees Hand Salve

This product is amazing. My hands and feet are as dry as they get and moisturizer just wasn't penetrating. I bought this on a whim, and I love it. It smells a bit like celery, but the smell is hardly noticeable. I bought it for about ten dollars at the grocery store and I've used it several times. I don't feel it's greasy, it penetrates rather quickly. My skin feels so much better. A complete God send.

Makeup Brushes -Essence of Beauty - Angle Blusher & Touch Up Powder Brush
velvetbuurns 3/17/2010 6:21:00 PM
Ugh. I've been looking for an angled brush for contouring. I was overjoyed when I found this for under six dollars at CVS. I'll start with the pro's. I liked the length of the brush handle; it wasn't too short or too long. The thickness and angle work perfectly for believable contouring. Now, for the cons. Right away, the handle came off. I hadn't handled it roughly or anything, it just came off. Some wood glue fixed that. Now the biggest problem is the shedding. I take around two hours to get ready in the morning and the last thing I need is another step in my routine. I started finding all of these white fibers on my face, and I wasn't happy. For now, I'm sticking with this. But believe me, I'm on the look out for a better brush.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lipstick

I loved this stuff. I found in moisturizing and it stayed on much longer than other lipsticks I had purchased in the past. I bought this in True Red at CVS for seven dollars. I also found it doesn't smudge horribly like my last lipstick. As an everyday red lipstick wearer, this was a great find.

Brows -Unlisted Brand - castor oil

This stuff is amazing. I was skeptical but I decided to try it anyway. I started using this on Februrary 19th and it's now March 17th. After nearly a month I've noticed a lot of differences. I've always had long eyelashes, but this made them longer and even a bit thicker. My bottom lashes became even longer. I used this on my brows as well and it helped to fill in bare patches. They look lovely. I'm in love. I also have been using it on my face. At eighteen, I've been noticing light lines around my mouth (sneer lines). This concerned me. They are far less noticeable now. The tiny creases under my eyes look a bit better as well. The only con I can really think of is that if you get it in your eyes, it does irritate them. Other than that, I'm a happy camper.

Liquid -Maybelline - SuperStay Makeup - New Version
velvetbuurns 2/11/2010 11:41:00 PM
Pale girls, this is not for us. The color alone is an unnatural orange/tan color and the selection is horrible. The palest shade is still tan. The packaging/bottle is ridiculous; a pump would have come in handy. It felt very dry. The worst part was that this made me break out. Needless to say, I threw it away.

Mascara -Maybelline - XXL Pro Volume Waterproof
velvetbuurns 2/11/2010 8:07:00 PM
This was an absolute but lovely surprise. I picked it up on a whim after failing to find any remaining Volume Shocking Mascara. With my ride tapping his foot I grabbed it, sighing. I'd tried XXL Pro Volume's predecessor and was not impressed. I'm not a huge fan of two step mascaras. When I got home I curled my lashes. I put several coats of the primer on; I was happy to find it didn't leave a thick white film. I put several coats of the top coat on and peered into the mirror. HOLY GRAIL MATERIAL. My lashes were dramatically long and had good volume. They curled perfectly. I was so shocked that I tried out my other mascaras on my other eye; my volume nor length ones couldn't compare. If you're looking for high drama, false eyelash like mascara, you might want to try this.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Trio - Egyptian Sands [DISCONTINUED]

It's not bad for the price. The colors are pigmented well. I use the darkest brown for contouring. My complaint is that it's too red of a brown; I'd prefer something more neutral. The white makes a pretty good highlighter. I don't use the peachy/pink middle color often, but it can be good for a neutral lid look.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Length
velvetbuurns 2/9/2010 11:43:00 PM
This stuff was awful, a complete waste of money. My lashes are long to begin with and decently thick. This made them look like short twigs. The formula was dry and flaky. It did nothing lengthwise; it would have looked better if I'd left them bare.

I hate this mascara. I have long, decently thick lashes to begin with. This makes them short and stubby and not even my spoolie can get rid of the clumps it leaves.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
velvetbuurns 1/13/2010 12:53:00 AM
I love this stuff! I'm Dita Von Teese pale; I'd give Casper a run for his money. I don't have pink undertones, and it's been nearly impossible for me to find a foundation that's doesn't make me pink or orange. I tried this stuff originally in C1 and I stopped using it because I was pink. Tried it again in N1, once again, too dark, stopped using it. Finally, I found W1. Surprisingly, it's the palest shade and no nasty undertones. It can be thick and cakey if you don't apply it correctly; I'd recommend using your fingers instead of a brush and applying in small amounts until you get the desired amount of coverage. With this, I've been getting comments on my "beautiful porcelain skin" rather than my skin disease, or makeup. It's been great.
