Liquid -Unlisted Brand - Gabriel Cosmetics- Moisturizing Liquid Foundation

I have very fair skin and what appealed to me about this product was: a) not tested on animals (cruelty-free) and b) it comes in a shade of pale that is perfect for me. I like the fact that it has titanium dioxide as a sunscreen as I am tired of all the chemical ones. This is a great foundation with great coverage, no odour, no problems with it at all except the price ($45) and the bottle. It's hard to get enough product out of the bottle, I prefer a squeeze tube. Oh well, it's a minor irritant for a great product which I will buy again.

Nails -Essie - Lapiz Of Luxury

I haven't been this excited about a nail polish in quite some time. It's a light periwinkle blue that just sparkles in the sun. It's light and ladylike, kind of reminds me of the water in a pool. I really love it. Here's some hints: make sure you don't move your hands for half an hour after you put it on, as it chips easily before it dries. I also use a top coat to encourage the shine. I not only would buy this colour again, I already have!!!

Cleansers -Lancome - Creme Douceur

My most expensive makeup indulgence, I love this $35 cleanser. It feels like a mini-spa. Yes, it's crazy expensive, but I'm hooked. Total luxury, and it cleans my face very well, very gently but thoroughly. Love this product. HG all the way

Bronzers -Unlisted Brand - Mistura 6-in-1 Beauty Solution

Please stay away from this product. It's the worst product I've used in years. First of all, one shade does not fit all. If you have fair skin, this is way too orangey brown for you. If you have oily skin, this will make you ten times oilier. If you're on this site, you probably like make-alot and so it's no problem for you to find a foundation you like, a powder you like, and eyeshadow/blush etc. YOU DON'T NEED THIS! I returned it after first use. Really, really awful stuff. Save your money.

Powder -Clinique - Almost Powder Makeup SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
veganbonnie 10/20/2011 11:28:00 AM

This is now my everyday foundation. It got rave reviews from Paula Begoun which is why I bought it - she says the sunscreen protection is excellent. For very oily skin, this is the HG product as far as I'm concerned because it mattifies without oxidizing, plus you can touch up no problem. It doesn't feel cakey or heavy, it sits on your face like a second skin. I would definitely recommend this if you have oily skin and want sun protection that doesn't make your skin even more oily - and we all know that liquid foundations with sunscreen will definitely add to your oily shine!!

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Colorburst Lipgloss 002 Crystal Lilac
rated 5 of 5
veganbonnie 10/20/2011 11:15:00 AM

The colourburst line is now my HG lipgloss. I'm buying up all the pink shades and wearing them over lipstick. They are not sticky, they provide decent shine, and they don't run - I had a terrible experience with NYC lip gloss running down my chin - don't ask! Horrifying! I just bought my 2nd Crystal Lilac tube because this is great for over lipstick as it is so light it won't change the shade of the lippie, just provide a more comfortable experience as my lips tend to get very dry. Well done, Revlon!

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Moisture Renew Lipgloss

Beautiful colour in AWFUL packaging. The wand is so thin, cheap and bendable that it doesn't deliver sufficient product to your lips. It is a very thin, useless wand. I'm disappointed I bought this product and if you love your lipgloss and like to apply it liberally without hassle, this product will let you down like it did me.

Loose Powders -E.L.F. - Studio High Definition Powder
rated 5 of 5
veganbonnie 9/22/2011 9:31:00 AM

A great (cheap) alternative to similar products from MUF and Urban Decay. Mine cost $6 online and I'd rebuy in a second. I just want to clarify what some people are saying. This powder does not hold oil at bay - no powder does, not even the expensive ones mentioned above. If you are oily, I mean really oily, like I am, then the oil will come regardless what you put on your face and you will have to blot. Luckily ELF makes great affordable blotting papers! This kind of powder diminishes the look of the shine, so you'll be more presentable, but no powder stops the oil from coming so don't be under any illusions - oily skin people like me cannot leave the house without their packet of blotting papers.

Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Eyelid Primer
rated 5 of 5

Works tremendously well, and doesn't cost much at all. No, it doesn't have the glow of Urban Decay's primers but I'll save the $30 and use this one from now on.

Tinted Moisturizer -MAC - Studio Moisture Tint SPF15
rated 5 of 5
veganbonnie 9/22/2011 9:20:00 AM

I love this product. It feels light as air and the lightest colour, which is what I use, is a perfect match to my skin, but the next colour up would also work. Just one note of caution: It does not provide enough sun protection, according to Paula Begoun. So I use an SPF underneath, which bugs me a bit because I have REALLY OILY skin and that just makes it oiler. Still, I love this product and will continue to buy it and use it, even though I have many bottles of high-end foundation still unfinished. In my opinion this product is more comfortable to wear than a regular foundation, the colour doesn't oxidize, and so it's my HG product from now on.

Polishes -Essie - geranium
rated 5 of 5
veganbonnie 8/18/2011 12:48:00 PM

I love this colour. It's an explosion of fiery orangey-red and goes great with light skin. Note that it's very similar to Essie's Fifth Avenue. Overall this is my favourite colour nail polish and so yes i would buy it many times over.

Lipstick -Urban Decay - Buzzkill
rated 4 of 5
veganbonnie 8/18/2011 12:46:00 PM

On my light skin this berry colour fairly explodes, provides a lot of impact on just two swipes. However, much as I love the colour, it's drying me out. I need more moisture in my lipstick so this won't be my berry HG, though Urban Decay is by far my favourite makeup brand in the world.

Bronzers -Urban Decay - Baked Bronzer
rated 4 of 5
veganbonnie 6/16/2011 1:43:00 PM

I have light-porcelain skin and blue eyes, and I always hated even the idea of bronzer. Then I walked into a drugstore and just asked to see one, just out of curiosity. Well the saleswoman marched right over to Urban Decay (which is great, because I'm vegan and already use Urban Decay) and she swiped this bronzer in "baked" in a W shape over cheeks, nose, cheeks, also along jaw line and down neck to chest. When I looked in the mirror I couldn't believe the transformation. I was suddenly much healthier and fresher looking than before! Wow - gone are my bronzer phobias, replaced by a love of this fabulous bronzer. It goes on natural and stays natural all day (no streaking, oranging or anything else unpleasant). It even stays while I blot my skin, and being oily, I blot 10x a day or more. I wear this with blush too, for more oomph. Definitely a must-have product, costs $31 at Shoppers Drug Mart in Toronto

Polishes -Bourjois - Very Vernis Rose Lounge 45
rated 2 of 5
veganbonnie 5/9/2011 3:22:00 PM

I bought this because it was one of the nail polishes used on Kate Middleton for her wedding. It's basically sheer with a touch of pinkishness. Apparently Kate wore it with Essie Allure. I think I'd do the same, because on its own this nail polish isn't much to look at, but the formula is quite nice nevertheless. But $10 for something you can't see? I dunno....

Blush -TheBalm - Down Boy
rated 4 of 5
veganbonnie 5/9/2011 9:37:00 AM

OK, this is one hell of an expensive blush at $26 Canadian plus tax. I got it at a local Rexall pharmacy here in Toronto. The packaging is cheap and tawdry. However, truth is: the blush is very, very nice! It's a lovely doll pink, that I pair with Bobbie Brown's Sandwash Pink lipstick for a cheerful pink look. The blush goes on well and lasts all day. It looks great in all conditions. It's matte, matte, matte which is perfect for my oily skin. Perfect, I tell you! BUT - why so much money for a brand nobody's ever heard of before, and such ugly packaging? I think I'll go with a power brand next time, and match the shade of pink. If I'm going to pay $26 I want a brand name, sorry but that's just the way it is.
