Eye Primer -NARS - Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
valskuiken 8/12/2011 12:34:00 PM
This stuff is amazing and the only e/s primer that works throughout a workday - workout for me. It just holds everything in place like nothing else. I don't use the wand to apply because for it gets smudgy, but I apply a very thin even coat with my fingertip. Not cheap, but already been lasting me 2 months and still have so much left. I will never use any other e/s primer again.

Polishes -OPI - Skull & Glossbones

Like the reviewer before me, I have a skin with olive undertones, and this color works marvelous for it!!! The light grey tone is subtle and yet stylish, good for work and still very fashionable, and fits with tons of other colors, so you don't have to worry about your outfit. I love grey on my nails, but Essie's Chinchilly is too dark for the Summer I find, so this is perfect. Didn't give it a 5 because first layer is very uneven, so have to keep applying until completely opaque

Polishes -OPI - Isn't it Romantic?
valskuiken 5/18/2011 6:37:00 PM
I love this nail polish. Yes it is sheer; it doesn't promise to be opaque ;) I think the best way to use this is to apply over, as mentioned before, an opaque neutral pink, or alone if you want a nice subtle sheen. I love the green sheen; it is very subtle, so I don't feel like I am too old (30) for it as I do with some more out-there duochromes. It's classy, and works great with my NC 25 skintone.

Polishes -OPI - Shanghai Shimmer
valskuiken 5/18/2011 6:34:00 PM
I love this color in the bottle....but it does not work on my skintone (NC 25, olive undertones) AT ALL. I am sad, because the way the color looks in the bottle was so promising. The green sheen doesn't quite come out. I am still giving this a 4 because: - Apllication was very easy for me, and I am clumsy. No streaking at all. - I think this color would be great if you are fair and cool toned....I can imagine this working very well on NC 5- NC 15 skintones. All in all, I kept trying to make this work....applied and removed it at least 6 times over the last 6 months, but I am going to have to get rid of it. For me, Isn't It Romantic is a better alternative for a pink with a green sheen.

Nothing to say that hasn't been said: finally jumped on the 217 bandwagon and will never go back.

Liquid -Maybelline - Fit Me Foundation
valskuiken 4/19/2011 9:13:00 PM
Hmm I bought this in 235 (which was too dark for my NC25 skin, but that doesn't matter) and initially loved the finish, until by midday it had all creeped into my fine lines or seemingly disappeared, leaving a blotchy oily face. I have the feeling there are hardly any natural ingredients in this. That being said, it is dirt cheap, so for me was worth a try.

Hair Styling Tools -Goody - Spin Pin
valskuiken 4/19/2011 9:37:00 AM
Very usable, but I do need extra pins for my long hair. One of the few things that works for me; even stayed put with one small elastic to reinforce when I went running. Easy to use!

Liquid -Sisley - Phyto Tient Eclat Oil-Free Foundation
valskuiken 4/18/2011 9:43:00 PM
I wish this review didn't include the word 'shades' because it gets confusion as to whether the review is for the foundation or just the shade selection. Anyway; this foundation is amazing. I use soft beige, which is a perfect color match, dries a bit darker than it initially looks, and doesn't break out my oily skin. It stays put all day when I use finishing powder and I don't even need to use concealer when wearing this. I only use a little bit. I haven't looked at the ingredients, but I believe it's so expensive because of the natural ingredients. I wish it was less expensive, but I feel this foundation is actually doing my skin good, and for that I am willing to pay the price.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Nouveau Monde Duo
valskuiken 4/18/2011 9:37:00 PM
The photos don't do the colors justice. It's such a gorgeous combination of silvery purple and green (reminding me of Mac's sumptuous olive, but darker). I love the colors and texture, and it makes my grey-blue eyes pop without looking like a clown (I was worried at first because with blue eyes it's easy to go over the top with color). I love this duo and now I am curious for other NARS eyeshadow duos...sigh!

Eye Shadow -NARS - Bali
valskuiken 4/18/2011 9:32:00 PM
A girl at the NARS counter recommended this for my eyebrows. She applied it for me, and I was sold. It was a perfect color match for me, but more importantly for a review; it looked natural and blended easily. I apply it with a eyeliner brush. Sometimes I also use it as a liner or shadow. It's not cheap, but I think this will last me a year!

Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - Glossing Cream with Olive Oil

I have horrible hair. It's fine, dry, frizzy, and I have tried everything in the world to fix it. Anything, nothing will fix it, but this stuff makes it shiny and manageable, and if I also flat iron it; my hair is actually beautiful for a day! I just use a quarter-sized drop for my long hair when it's towel dry and that's it. I've already repurchased this 3 times. Don't use too much of it at once, or your hair will look greasy. A little goes a long way. HG for me.

Powder -La Bella Donna - Mineral foundation
valskuiken 1/13/2011 1:36:00 PM
Finally....my HG foundation!!! I have tried almost every foundation under the sun: Guerlain, Biotherm, BareMinerals, Mac, Dior, Maybelline, La Mer...you name it. But never I could find a foundation that made me look soft and natural, covered my sun damaged skin, didn't cause me to break out, or made me an oil slick. There was always something wrong with it. My derm recommended La Bella Donna for me; as it has only pure mineral ingredients and my skin is a disaster. I was skeptical but desperate, so I spent the nearly 70 CAD on a tiny box of mineral powder in the color Marta. I thought I was a fool....but now I have been using it for 3 weeks and it's truly amazing. I feel I am not wearing any make up at all, but my skin looks smooth with a glow that is not like the Christmas tree shine of BareMinerals, but natural and healthy. My skin has been healthy, no breakouts, and the foundation holds up throughout the day, no blotting needed. Marta is also my perfect color match, but I can't judge a product based on match; that's different for everything. This powder is EXPENSIVE, but you need very, very little of the product. It's incredibly fine, so it spreads out very easily. I think it will last me a good couple of months, so the money is worth it to me. The only big downside is the packaging. You can't travel with this and you have to puncture your own holes for powder to come out. It can be a bit messy. I preferred the "slide" of the new BareMinerals packaging that allows you to travel with a loose powder. However, I didn't take a lippy off because of the fact that the actual product is amazing. I will purchase the compact as well, to see if that is a good alternative for me to be able to travel with, and bring to the office for touch-ups. I'm in heaven though; finally my HG...

Polishes -Essie - Fiji

Gah! I didn't think I am THAT bad with applying nail polish. It's impossible to make this look decent unless I apply 4 coats; otherwise it looks horribly streaky. I'm going back to OPI.

Polishes -NARS - Orgasm

I don't have much to add to what has been said below: gorgeous in the bottle, tacky orange on nails, and VERY sheer. Not worth your money. I wish the color on my nails looked like the bottle; pink with a hint of gold shimmer, but it's just not that.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose
valskuiken 7/31/2010 7:01:00 PM
I have used this mascara for a month now. It's really thick; I have to scrape the brush before using it to avoid having my eyelashes look like tar slicks. Really clumps my lashes. However; if I do scrape the brush it does look pretty; but I shouldn't have to do this for a mascara in this price range. Back to Dior Iconic!
