Gels/Soaps -Dr. Bronner's - Peppermint Castille Soap
rated 5 of 5

Yes, yes, and yes to this soap. I am a lifelong addict from now on. It is perfectly mild and non-irritating, and the peppermint is a perfect way to cool off on a hot summer day. I have the most finicky, sensitive skin when it comes to soaps, and this has not irritated me in the least. I used it in place of my facial cleanser one day in a pinch, and let's just say I threw my facial cleanser away once I found it. I get so many compliments on my skin when I use this in conjunction with a good moisturizer. Try this soap in any variety! The lavender is just as great.

Polishes -Essie - Fair Game
rated 5 of 5
valexander 6/3/2011 4:28:00 PM

This is one of my favorite nail colors to date; it is a lovely, complex shade of grey-blue. I have a light skintone, and this suited me well. Normally am not a fan of metallic colors, but this one is lovely and quite sophisticated, especially for a blue. Like the reviewer below said, try it out in person before you purchase it. Photos online do not do it justice.

Lipstick -Korres - Mango Lipstick #52 - Orange Red
rated 5 of 5
valexander 7/22/2010 3:43:00 PM

This product is wonderful. Like the reviewer below, I always have trouble finding a red that suits me, and not only can girls with olive or golden skin pull this off, but I could see this being a very universally flattering shade. While this isn't siren red, it's a nice subtle color that is absolutely perfect for summer (can't beat the SPF 10 in it).The texture is that of a lipbalm; ideal for those who want a fun color but not all the heaviness of a lipstick. I think this is definitely one of my favorite lipcolor purchases.

Polishes -L'Oreal - Pro Manicure Nail Polish - Sand Castle 510
rated 5 of 5
valexander 7/15/2009 3:03:00 AM

LOVE this nail polish shade. After Sally Hansen discontinued my favorite pinky nude shade, Spa Sandalwood, I've been on a quest to find a replacement. The L'Oreal shade is even better. It does take 2 or 3 coats to get nice, even coverage, but with the aid of a buffing block before painting nails and a topcoat after, my manicure lasted a solid week before I started to see minimal chipping. I highly recommend this shade if you're looking for something subtle that is, as another reviewer stated, not too pink or not too nude. I'm stocking up in case L'Oreal decides to discontinue the shade!

Blush -mark - Good Glowing Mosaic Blush - Hush Baby
rated 5 of 5
valexander 7/15/2009 2:54:00 AM

This is one of my new favorite good glowing blushes. It seems to give me the most natural glow of all the good glowing blushes. For my light skin, it's an absolute perfect shade. It isn't too harshly pink, but it isn't too orangey or muddy like some bronzers tend to be. For me, it gives me a slightly sunkissed look and a nice glow. One day, I skipped foundation and applied Hush Baby right after my moisturizer, and it gave me a fresh, dewy look. I highly recommend this Good Glowing shade! Looks amazing paired with the Skinny Dip Dew Drenched lip color by mark, as well as Lilith Liquid liner and a bit of mascara. A nice, natural look. Enjoy, ladies!

Eyeliner -mark - On The Edge Hook Up Liquid Eyeliner - Lilith
rated 5 of 5
valexander 7/2/2009 3:42:00 PM

On the edge is one of the best liquid liners I've ever used. It's pretty easy to build since it creates such thin, precise lines. I don't find the packaging too small; I usually dispose of eyeliners and mascaras within three months and this lasts in that amount of time (just be sure to close the cap tightly; I made the mistake of not doing that with one of my OTE Cleo liners and it was useless after that). The Lilith shade is a gorgeous bronze-brown shade that is wonderful if you want to make your eyes pop, but you want something a little softer than a traditional black liner. I definitely didn't expect the bronze element to the color, so that was a nice surprise. I recommend this product to anyone; it's an especially wonderful product if you're looking for a "first time" liquid liner.

Highlighters -Clinique - Up-lighting Liquid Illuminator - Blush
rated 5 of 5

I use this in the Blush shade, and just a little bit gives a dewy, healthy flush. It's lightweight and perfect for summer. There's no greasy consistency whatsoever. I'm definitely going to give the Bronze shades a try now.

Mascara -Clinique - Lash Power
rated 5 of 5
valexander 6/1/2008 2:35:00 AM

This is one of the best mascara's I've ever used. After a sales girl at Nordstrom let me try Lash Power, I knew I had to have it. I have long, thick eyelashes and i don't like the feel of heavy mascara. I love that this still emphasizes my eyelashes and eyes, but it doesn't have a thick "hi, I'm wearing makeup!" look. I decided to test the staying power. It didn't smudge or flake after I rubbed my eyes, and I washed my face with cold water and soap to see if it would come off. There were a few minor flakes, but nothing noticeable. With the warm water, all I had to do was press a warm cloth to my eyelashes for a few seconds and the mascara slides right off. No mess! Everyone, seriously! This is $14 well-spent.

Blush -L'Oreal - Blush Delice - Front-Page Peach
rated 5 of 5

I got my pan of FPP in the mail today, and I have to say that I really think it lives up to the hype. Being a broke college student, I've always wanted to try NARS Orgasm but it's been way too expensive for my tastes. After hearing about the similarity to NARS, I had to try this blush (I scored mine on eBay for 4 bucks...talk about a deal). While I can't compare this to Orgasm, I have to say that FPP is one of the most flattering blushes I've ever used...it's definitely buildable on my light-medium skin; the perfect peachy pink! I'll definitely buy another pan to have on hand.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Beyond Perfect nail color in sandalwood
rated 4 of 5
valexander 6/14/2007 7:42:00 PM

I think Sally Hansen polishes are the best as far as drugstore polishes go...for me, they tend to last a week without chipping as long as I use a topcoat or a second coat of the color. Most polishes barely last two days on me. Sandalwood is a nice pinky brown color...I think the previous poster was right in saying it is best suited for warm skin tones. It really complemented my skintone...and the sleek square bottle is nice-looking, too.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Glosswear for lips Nude Nectar
rated 2 of 5
valexander 6/14/2007 7:38:00 PM

The color of this gloss isn't completely horrible (just don't apply too much or you'll end up looking like a Bratz doll)...the smell is really what put me off. I'm sorry, but even if this stuff looked amazing on me, there's no way I would ever purchase it because of the chemically smell. If you're looking for a pinky nude color and have no objections to smell or a thick texture, go ahead and buy this...I guess it just wasn't for me.

Blush -mark - Good Glowing Powder Blush in Love Glo
rated 5 of 5
valexander 5/12/2007 9:39:00 PM

My mom bought me a special edition "In Love We Trust" palette from Mark that contained Love Glo, as well as a pale yellow eyeshadow, a gold eyeshadow, a similar pink lipgloss, and a bronze gloss. The eyeshadows and glosses weren't a problem, but I was really apprehensive about the bright color of the blush. I gave it a chance, and it goes on surprisingly light! It gives the cheeks a soft, fresh flush...kind of like you just came in from the cold. This blush especially looked great with all the colors that came in the pallete (I'm not really sure of the specific shade names right now...but I'm pretty sure they were LE). This is great for someone who wants to keep their look fresh-faced and subtle. Don't let the bright pink appearance scare you off!

Liquid -Almay - Nearly Naked LIQUID foundation
rated 5 of 5
valexander 5/12/2007 12:41:00 AM

I usually have bad luck with drugstore foundations, but I've found that Almay suits my combination skin perfectly. It doesn't go on too heavily, yet it manages to even my skintone. I apply it with a foundation brush and set it with the Nearly Naked powder. Since I've been using it, people have been telling me that my skin has a nice glow...that was an added bonus! Definitely recommend it if you need minimal coverage with an SPF.
